To wonder what is out there in space that they’re not telling us?

Something is out there.

If you look into the sky you see a million different stars shining back at you. We are told these are all suns in the sky. And we are then told that in those million suns there is absolutely nothing out there? It’s not true. It’s very likely that they are already known about and have made themselves aware to us on many occasions. Why are we being kept in the dark again?

There is more out there .

When I was 10 I saw a huge orange triangle hovering above the trees opposite my house. Totally silent .
It wasn't solid - I can't describe it . It was silent - hovered for around 30 seconds then twisted through the trees and shot off faster than anything I've ever seen

All silent

I was accused of dreaming it except a group of workmen leaving a factory at 10 pm saw it too . They reported it to police and there was a piece in the local paper next day . So I definitely saw what I saw . I feel privileged tbh . It was completely out of this world . This was 40 years ago now . I've never ever forgotten it .

Wow this is haunting

can you tell me more about the triangle? Did you feel anything because of it? Did it manipulate you to feel a certain way? Or did you feel there were life forms onboard of it? what did it look like it was made of?

Also the question we all really want to know

whats on Mars? Why is everyone so keen to get there? What are they hiding up there?

Humans are a bit like cats.

We share an abiding curiosity about new places and need to explore them for no other reason than because we can.

Phrenologistsfinger · 28/08/2022 00:07

The truth is out there, OP. Trust no-one.

The one thing I’ve learnt about this forum is that several people are actually those who want to coerce us in disguise and the naysayers flood in whenever someone starts challenging the status quo

I did actually rewatch the Xfiles recently, still good but the clothes look so dated. It was my teen fandom thing at the time.

Lunar270 · 28/08/2022 00:09

Currently we only have telescopes to tell us what's out there. These are great but limited. Thus , so is our understanding as we can't quantify a great deal from images.

Closer to home, we are sending spacecraft and miniaturised science labs to planets and other places to take measurements. But these are also limited to some extent. Therefore I don't think it's a case of anyone hiding anything. It's just that we are currently limited by technology and science.

Mars was a target (after the moon) as it was thought water was found and that this could lead to other discoveries. Now that more understanding of the chemical composition of the Martian surface/atmosphere is known, we seem to be fixated on the moon again.

Manned space flight is only just starting but it takes six months to get to Mars. It would take forever to get outside of our solar system and taking that much food/water would be unfeasible, notwithstanding the physical horrors associated with spending time in space.

Deep space flight is a dream and won't be happening in our lifetimes.

stillvicarinatutu · 28/08/2022 00:10

I can't describe it other than to say it was a tubular triangle with a column down the middle and two Collumns off to each side - it wasn't a solid triangle . I'd seen an orange "star" about 10 mins before I'd seen it close up - th "star" was moving really quickly across the horizon. I opened my window and watched it until it was out of sight. The this large glowing orange triangle appeared 10 mins later . It was low - just above the poplar trees opposite my house . It made absolutely no noise what so ever .

I felt stunned - but not scared . I was elated . I felt special that I'd seen it . I felt vindicated the following day when it was in the paper .

maddening · 28/08/2022 00:11

But what you are seeing is in the past, the further away these things are the longer the light takes to get here, so even if there is a planet the whole population might be dead by now.

Twiggywinkle13 · 28/08/2022 00:11

I can’t accept that there are people who are so arrogant that they honestly think that in a completely infinite universe we humans are the only living things ever!

stillvicarinatutu · 28/08/2022 00:12

It didn't hang about- hovering for maybe 30 seconds before silently twisting in mid air and jetting off - it was fast .

So true - door that’s normally closed which is now open? Quick, scoot in there.

New item in the house/garden/wherever - check it out straight away.

Stars in the sky - view them with apprehension as the all-mysterious “they” are out to get you.

Cats are always right two thirds of the time.

Liebig · 28/08/2022 00:13

The great silence (i.e. absence of SETI signals from alien civilizations) is perhaps the strongest indicator of all that high relativistic velocities are attainable and that everybody out there knows it.

The sobering truth is that relativistic civilizations are a potential nightmare to anyone living within range of them. The problem is that objects traveling at an appreciable fraction of light speed are never where you see them when you see them (i.e., light-speed lag). Relativistic rockets, if their owners turn out to be less than benevolent, are both totally unstoppable and totally destructive. A starship weighing in at 1,500 tons (approximately the weight of a fully fueled space shuttle sitting on the launchpad) impacting an earthlike planet at “only” 30 percent of lightspeed will release 1.5 million megatons of energy — an explosive force equivalent to 150 times today’s global nuclear arsenal…

The game plan is, in its simplest terms, the relativistic inverse to the golden rule: “Do unto the other fellow as he would do unto you and do it first.”

Presumably there is some sort of inhibition against killing another member of our own species, because we have to work to overcome it.

But the rules do not apply to other species. Both humans and wolves lack inhibitions against killing chickens.

It’s an entirely new situation, emerging from the physical possibilities that will face any species that can overcome the natural interstellar quarantine of its solar system. The choices seem unforgiving, and the mind struggles to imagine circumstances under which an interstellar species might make contact without triggering the realization that it can’t afford to be proven wrong in its fears.

They won’t come to get our resources or our knowledge or our women or even because they’re just mean and want power over us. They’ll come to destroy us to insure their survival, even if we’re no apparent threat, because species death is just too much to risk, however remote the risk…

The most humbling feature of the relativistic bomb is that even if you happen to see it coming, its exact motion and position can never be determined; and given a technology even a hundred orders of magnitude above our own, you cannot hope to intercept one of these weapons. It often happens, in these discussions, that an expression from the old west arises: “God made some men bigger and stronger than others, but Mr. Colt made all men equal.” Variations on Mr. Colt’s weapon are still popular today, even in a society that possesses hydrogen bombs. Similarly, no matter how advanced civilizations grow, the relativistic bomb is not likely to go away…

We ask that you try just one more thought experiment. Imagine yourself taking a stroll through Manhattan, somewhere north of 68th street, deep inside Central Park, late at night. It would be nice to meet someone friendly, but you know that the park is dangerous at night. That’s when the monsters come out. There’s always a strong undercurrent of drug dealings, muggings, and occasional homicides.

It is not easy to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys. They dress alike, and the weapons are concealed. The only difference is intent, and you can’t read minds.

Stay in the dark long enough and you may hear an occasional distance shriek or blunder across a body.

How do you survive the night? The last thing you want to do is shout, “I’m here!” The next to last thing you want to do is reply to someone who shouts, “I’m a friend!”

What you would like to do is find a policeman, or get out of the park. But you don’t want to make noise or move towards a light where you might be spotted, and it is difficult to find either a policeman or your way out without making yourself known. Your safest option is to hunker down and wait for daylight, then safely walk out.

There are, of course, a few obvious differences between Central Park and the universe.

There is no policeman.

There is no way out.

And the night never ends.

FlosCampi · 28/08/2022 00:13

@DaphneSprucesPippasClack I agree.

Leafy3 · 28/08/2022 00:14

Follow the money, op.

There's no big conspiracy about alien life. There is a determination by the v rich and powerful to make ££££$$$$ and gain more power by colonising places like the moon and Mars, and mining them for the minerals we've depleted on earth.

I do believe the government and defence forces test advanced weaponry and other technologies, but again don't believe this is a sign of alien visitors.

The balance of probability tells us alien life does exist somewhere, however our galaxy (let alone the Earth) is sooo tiny that the distances between us and other life forms are likely to be forever insurmountable. That's if we're even capable of perceiving and recognising other forms of life.

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 28/08/2022 00:15

FlosCampi · 28/08/2022 00:13

@DaphneSprucesPippasClack I agree.

It's just a cry for attention masquerading as a simple statement. There was one about 5g.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 28/08/2022 00:16

There's loads of aliens, but they know about human beings and consider us parasites. Don't go to earth, it's got human beings on it.
😁 Love Red Dwarf.
We're the universe's equivalent of chicken pox lol

Who in our society has been influenced by aliens.

world leaders? Musicians? Actors?

OP posts:
CaptainBarbosa · 28/08/2022 00:17

There must be something out there, living. We just don't know what or where. We simply are not advanced enough.

I'm sure if a alien race wanted to visit us and had the ability to do so we'd know about it.

Or maybe they have like star trek rules that they can't engage with us because we are too primitive and they are concerned of "ruining our way of life"

Who knows, let's just hope if anyone does come to visit, they are friendly 😬

I don't think any government is keeping some massive secret from us. Some scientist are spending their entire life dedicating it to the search for life. Why would Bob from MIT mid 50's with a NASA badge, his lovely wife Patricia and a dog called Jack, spend his life looking for something if he had to cover it up the minute he found it?

MonaLena · 28/08/2022 00:17

The Government are hiding aliens and extraterrestrial in plain sight. There are many many things on our planet that just don’t comprehend with what we know.

I'm an alien. I don't like to tell people. There are many of us among you.

We live exclusively on Macdonalds, hence the push to a 24/7 service and deliveries.

We hope our time to rise up is soon, but may be too fat when it occurs.
