To love crows

Frivolous thread.

Sick of doom and gloom.

I absolutely love crows . All corvids really but crows are just ace .

I love the way they stand in the road like "come on then car ....come and have a go if you think you're hard enough "

I love their attitude. I love how they walk .

I'd love to find a baby crow or a raven that needed rearing . They're just so hard !
Recently saw a you tube video of. Crow that fed a mouse that was trying it's luck with a bread bun the crow had ....crow broke a bit off and took it to the mouse .
That is one intelligent bird . I love them.

What are you raven on about?

Iflyaway · 26/08/2022 00:18

I love them too.

There's a page on FB dedicated to them.

LiveatCityHall · 26/08/2022 00:18

You can tame them quite easily. My husband has been asking for one for his birthday for years!

FarmerRefuted · 26/08/2022 00:21

I know someone who has a pet crow. He was injured and even though he survived with treatment he couldn't be returned to the wild as he was no longer able to fend for himself. I would love own of my own.

stillvicarinatutu · 26/08/2022 00:27

I'd love one ....they have so much attitude! And so clever . If I found one that needed care I'd be in my element!

A sign of death..

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/08/2022 00:31

They even recognise you so I get lots of calls in the winter because I put monkey nuts out for them. They start as soon as I go out to the garage to get them.

MrsAvocet · 26/08/2022 00:34

We have loads of jackdaws nesting in the trees in our garden. They are awesome - so clever and funny. I can even forgive them the early morning racket and the poo all over my car. We had one living in the bushes with a damaged wing for weeks during the first lockdown (we called him Corvid 19 ) who got quite tame and would come to us for food, but despite our best efforts we couldn't catch him to take him to the wildlife rescue and one day he didn't show up. I like to kid myself that he got better and flew away but of course he probably ended up dining with Mr Fox or similar. 😥 He was a real character though and I became very fond of him.

This tickled me <cah CAHHHH> Grin

I like . A murder investigation! See they're not so far removed from us 😂

We don't have crows, but the starlings are hilarious. And there's definitely one that alerts the rest to my appearance... glorious whoops and calls.

Leafy3 · 26/08/2022 00:39

Me too, op, me too.

You know they're the only bird which returns to visit their parents?

Super intelligent and recognise individual humans and other animals, remember who had been nice to them (or not).

Grumpusaurus · 26/08/2022 00:40

Love crows too. When I walk my hounds, I speak to them and they seem to accompany us.

FixItUpChappie · 26/08/2022 00:43

I like them but they are so loud in the morning…. I try to remember they are just chatting it up. If you google them they are so very smart.

This was my bird feeder the other day….

They've always made me laugh on a roundabout near where I used to live - they just stand in the rod like "yeah. ....I'm ard me ...." they seem to think they'd dent the car bonnet if they stood there 😂

I just love em .

Apparently corvids have been known to use tools. I can't remember where I read that but I mentioned it to DH and now he's always blaming them for the amount of time he spends in his workshop...he turned his back and those bloody birds were in there using the pillar drill without permission again and it's going to take him ages to clean up after them.😂

I have a neighbourhood cat like that.

Won't move for love nor money.

stillvicarinatutu · 26/08/2022 00:45

I can't li k the crow feeding the mouse but it's
So cute!! The crow defo knows what it's doing - takes a bit of bread to a frightened mouse at the side of the road - mouse takes it and runs .

They can solve quite complicated puzzles too. Quite a few years ago I went to a lecture by a researcher into corvid intelligence. I think she was mostly working with jays. Really interesting!

stillvicarinatutu · 26/08/2022 00:48

Corvids are amazing. Tho I have had to save a magpie before now being attacked by other magpies ....sadly he didn't need me beyond shooing the others . I love birds but I think corvids are thinkers .....

OP posts:
Leafy3 · 26/08/2022 00:48

I follow an insta account where they filmed a magpie watching a cat sleeping in the garden. It danced about it for a bit, getting closer, stealing looks, then flew up, pecked it quickly and flew away 😂

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 26/08/2022 00:49

I love crows too. They are so clever and somehow not like other birds.

stillvicarinatutu · 26/08/2022 00:51

I watched an Instagram where this crow followed this cat and evertime the cat looked round the crow nonchalantly walked the other way like " nope ! Nothing to see here !"
But then as soon as the cat turned round it follows it again . So funny . I think they are proper thinkers . Clever . Love em .

😁

BarryBantam · 26/08/2022 00:53

Yes they are terrifically intelligent.

Also, round here they eat kebabs left as litter from the night before. Like you say, they're that 'ard.

Magpies are intelligent too but they are sneaky. Crows are just brazen.
