Don't understand fashion/ cosmetic trends

AIBU to think the big thick dark eyebrows and lip injections (that look like duck lips) just looks awful on everyone who has it? I don't understand why you would pay good money to look like that?
Also the trend of guys getting what looks like a poddle perm on top of their head - it just looks silly.
AIBU or am I just to old to understand why it looks good?

I agree OP. To me they look utterly ridiculous. And really fake. But I am also aware that my grandmother used to say that the fashions that were "in" when I was in my 20s looked ridiculous.

Quite, we looked ridiculous in the 90s too. At least I did.

I don’t personally like overly thick eyebrows or inflated lips, but each to their own. I don’t suppose I looked the best with my patchy, skinny eyebrows back on the 90s either!

I've been in Bristol this weekend admiring the new trend for thin eyebrows. Lots of teens and young women have them!!

So hopefully you won't be getting too much massive eyebrow rage for much longer.

Yes, I think they look ridiculous. But I look at photos of myself in the 1980s wearing a neon yellow ra-ra skirt and a billowing pirate-style shirt, with my hair backcombed until it was pretty much vertical and white make-up stripes on my cheeks to emulate the Adam Ant look. So I looked like an even bigger twat and feel inclined to keep my mouth shut about the youth of today.

Not a fan of overly injected lips or tattooed brows. Nowt to do with my age - just preference.

I like the perm look on teen boys. Think it quite cool and stylish. Not always - seen some bad perms! - but often.

I'm just laughing at my 90s tiny thin eyebrows that were like two half circles above my eyes. They were so arched 🤣🤣🤣

I agree, but I'm old so that's probably why. I imagine if I was 20 years younger I'd have them too. My parents probably thought the orange faces and barely there eyebrows of the 90s were hideous, and looking back they were!

Some people like it. I’m not a fan. My sister who is a few years younger than me (I’m 33) has massive lip injections, and I mean massive, like cartoonish. She’s also had filler in her face to create cheekbones. I saw her the other day sans makeup and phone filter and she looks truly terrifying. The fillers are almost rectangular. She was by all accounts a very pretty woman. She’s now maybe two more injections away from botched. She’s only in her 20s, what will she look like at my age? Or at 40? All her friends have had lip filler, face filler, fat freezing injections, eyebrows tattooed or micro bladed etc etc. They look like Bratz dolls and not in a good way, and i’m not some mealy mouthed country girl, I love a bit of glamour.

Today's eyebrows look better than the overly-tweezed, overly-arched eyebrows of the 90s.

Ever since cosmetics became popular, older women have said that younger women look ridiculous in the current trends. It's the cosmetic equivalent of your Dad saying all today's music is rubbish, you can't hear the words and they are not proper musicians, oh no, not like The Who, blah blah blah.

They may be iconic now, but the 60s beehives and moptops didn't really look objectively beautiful, did they?

Mind you, they had nothing on the mullet and the quiff. Quiff. Sounds vaguely obscene now.

Those ridiculous red, yellow and brown highlights from the 90s. What a crock of shite they looked. And all the brown makeup too. Brown shadow, brown blush, brown lipstick.

Let them have slug eyebrows and overpainted lips. I remember the magazines in the 90s telling me to draw the liner just outside my natural lip line and paint it in with the lipstick for full, luscious, kissable, punched-in-the-mouth lips. We really have no right to talk.

I think the mullet is coming back though 😆
