To ask what time you eat your meals?

Inspired by another thread, what time do you eat your meals every day? Posters were talking about having dinner at 5pm and I thought that was really interesting! It’s not something I’d previously come across.

Also interested in whether this varies by age or region, so it would great if you could say. I’ll start.

DH and I are in our 30’s, have no kids and live and work in Central London

Breakfast (well, a smoothie): 8.30am

Lunch: Half 1ish

Dinner: circa 8pm

Lunch - 2
Tea - 6
Dessert - 8
Snack at 9 & 10.

I don't eat much so I like to spread it out so I have something to look forward to!

CuriousCatfish · 14/08/2022 18:33

We eat dinner anytime after 5. Depends on the day, how hungry we are and what time we had lunch.

Rarely as late as 8 though.

Fluffyboo · 14/08/2022 18:35

Lunch around 12/12.30, dinner around 6/6.30

SnoopLabbyLab · 14/08/2022 18:35

South East, 40’s with DD13 and DS11
Breakfast- before school/ work between 7-8
Lunch- whenever I can when working. 1ish when at home
Kids normally have a little snack when they get on from school ( yoghurt, fruit etc.). We call it gouter as my mum is French and that’s what we called it at home
Supper- Between 7-8 all together, earlier on Scouts night.

QuickQuestionNotAZombie · 14/08/2022 18:35

I am extremely hungry all the time so I'm hardly functioning by 10 but it's better to try and hold out as long as poss so I can have more later.

Breakfast 6am
Dinner 12 noon
Tea 5.30pm

NumberTheory · 14/08/2022 18:35

Breakfast - don’t bother
Lunch - between noon and 1pm
Dinner - 6:30 pm

We used to have dinner around 8pm but have pulled it forward in an effort to be healthier, improve sleep and be more family friendly.

QuickQuestionNotAZombie · 14/08/2022 18:36

We are in our 30s, no children and from East Anglia.

Mistymountain · 14/08/2022 18:36

DH & I are in our 60's, live in the West Midlands and our meal times are roughly: breakfast around 8am, lunch around 1 to 3pm depending what we're doing, dinner around 8 to 9.30 pm also depending. If I book a restaurant it'll be for 8.30 pm.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 14/08/2022 18:36

All but 3 days a month:

breakfast/lunch - 3-4pm
dinner - 9-10pm

The other 3 days are a water fast.

sugarspiceplumfairy · 14/08/2022 18:36

Do dinner between 7-730usually

before 6 would feel to early but we live on the edge Sundays and eat about 630 😂

WalkingOnSonshine · 14/08/2022 18:37

Depends.

I don’t normally have breakfast but will have a coffee at about 9am.

Dinner is normally 10 mins anytime between 12 & 1.

Tea is usually 6-6.30 ish, unless DS has an early night or we’re getting a takeaway, when it’s about 8-8.30.

chipsandpeas · 14/08/2022 18:37

Not the point of the post, but if you don’t each much and you’re always hungry, why not eat a bit more?!

SquigglePigs · 14/08/2022 18:37

Breakfast - DH and DD about 7am, me about 8.30/9am (I can't eat first thing).

Lunch - 12.30/1pm

Dinner - 5/5.30 if we eat with DD, 7.30/8 if we eat after she goes to bed

Imissmoominmama · 14/08/2022 18:37

Breakfast- 7am
Lunch- noon
Tea (we’re northern and it’s too early for dinner)- 5:30pm

I don’t like eating any later- it disrupts my sleep.

SquigglePigs · 14/08/2022 18:38

We're late 30's and DD is 3.

Presumably neither you nor your DH has a 9 to 5 job?

Can I ask where put you live, please? Just general area.

QuickQuestionNotAZombie · 14/08/2022 18:39

@Cherchezlaspice because my hunger isn't related to how much I eat, I have a health condition which means I'm always hungry even after demolishing a roast. I therefore put on a few stone have had go reduce calories to lose the stone and now have to stick to low cals to maintain my weight.

carefullycourageous · 14/08/2022 18:39

Some combination of these meals (we don't have all five on a single day!):
Breakfast: 6am-7am
Second breakfast: 9am-11am
Lunch: 11am-3pm
Tea: 4pm-7pm
Supper: 6pm-10pm

We vary all over the place, we go out all the time and will often eat something small mid-morning before having a huge meal when we get home at 3/4pm, or we might have a second breakfast before we go and them nothing much until late teatime.
