To ask what time you eat your meals?

Inspired by another thread, what time do you eat your meals every day? Posters were talking about having dinner at 5pm and I thought that was really interesting! It’s not something I’d previously come across.

Also interested in whether this varies by age or region, so it would great if you could say. I’ll start.

DH and I are in our 30’s, have no kids and live and work in Central London

Breakfast (well, a smoothie): 8.30am

Lunch: Half 1ish

Dinner: circa 8pm

Also, can't eat after 8pm as get horrendous IBS if I try it and then there is no sleeping that night.

Blip · 18/01/2023 10:42

Mostly skip breakfast
Lunch 12:30
Dinner usually 6pm

housemaus · 18/01/2023 11:00

'Breakfast' (coffee and some kind of smoothie, usually): 8ish at my desk
Lunch: 12.30 - any later and I'm starving, probably because I don't have proper breakast
Tea: About 8pm if I'm going to the gym, about 7 otherwise

My and DH in our late 20s/early 30s, no kids, South West, work hybrid of home/office.

Breakfast: c. 9am (either at home or at desk at office, usually coffee plus a yoghurt or banana)
Lunch: c. 12.30pm
Snack: c. 3-4pm (fruit, cereal bar, biscuits, something like that)
Supper: c. 7-8pm depending on what else we have going on

Curiosity101 · 18/01/2023 12:25

7-7.30am
12-12.30pm
5.30-6pm

Me, DH and 2 DCs aged 1 and 3 all follow roughly these timings

Curiosity101 · 18/01/2023 12:26

*12 - 12.30pm

Genuine question, how do you go 8 hours between meals?

I get hungry every 3-4 hours, even if I have a meal that leaves me feeling full. I also eat quite healthy so the food should technically have more staying power than a bag of crisps but I just don't know how people last so long between meals?

I wish I could! It feels so impractical to eat so often.

I am early fifties, so is DH but works away, only home on weekends so they sometimes look a bit different.

We have young adult children at home which means they eat breakfast and lunch when they are up and here and hungry.

I have breakfast around 9am, very rarely eat lunch but if I was peckish it would be around 11:30am. I love dinner early 4:30- 5pm. I got to bed at 8pm.

Caspianberg · 18/01/2023 12:58

@Miajk - I imagine many people go 8hrs regularly without food.
Here, dh, myself and toddler roughly eat:
Breakfast -7am
lunch - 12/1pm
Dinner -6/7pm

So a 5/6/7hrs gap between those three main meals. Could be 5hours if we ate 1pm then 6pm, or 7hrs if 12 then 7pm.
After evening meal, we don’t eat again until breakfast which would be 12/13hr gap usually

Couple in our 60's. Breakfast about 10am although I often don't eat breakfast. Lunch most days at about 1pm but can be later. Tea is 7.30 most evenings, occasionally 8pm.

Quite a few of our neighbours say they have their tea between 5pm and 6pm. I find that far too early.

We are both Londoners but now live East Midlands. Quite a few restaurants here stop serving at 8pm and, even the ones that serve food later, seem to empty out after about 7pm

Swiftswatch · 18/01/2023 14:18

Breakfast about 9am.
Lunch between 1 and 2pm.
Dinner about 7ish.

30s, London, 1 toddler.

We have to have regular meals so that DH knows when to take his medication, so usually :
Breakfast 7.30
Lunch 12.30
Supper 6.00
and if we are still hungry maybe a snack later on. We are usually in bed by 9pm. It does very sometimes it we are going out but it does make it difficult to judge when to take meds
South West.
