I was horrified enough earlier to read this tweet, but to see her blind ignorant responses AIBU to think she should never be allowed on tv again? Her judgement today is eye-wateringly offensive...

I’ve actually never heard of her or seen her on tvand I would say I’m about average in terms of intelligence/viewing habits.
So clearly she has to say outrageous things to get into the public eye.

The BBC showed itself to be craven and ridiculous when they included her on what was otherwise a good documentary about totalitarianism. Like, what does she know anyway?!

This is a particular low point though.

I saw something the other day where she was incandescent with rage because Piers Morgan called her Labour and she stated she was a communist, how did he not know? Etc. She seems perpetually 15 years old.

Very few people get the chance to appear on TV and radio and put their point of view across. It's a privilege to be asked to do that. If an interviewee demonstrates repeatedly that they are badly informed and have extremely poor judgement to the point of being offensive, they should disqualify themselves from doing interviews. Unfortunately, sometimes they continue to get invited on because it gets publicity for the programme. I'd like to see that change.

In a few years' time, I'd hope that Ash Sarkar will be a barely remembered nonentity.

As far as I'm aware, she isn't a member of any Communist branch. My DH is a branch member in our city, and they all tend to know each other. So in that regard she's all talk.

She is on the BBC antisocial podcast alongside Lawrence Fox. And she actually came across worse than him. That's quite the skill.

What she said is grim. I have never been sure what her qualifications are for being on TV anyway. I would like to see her left off guest lists for the fore-seeable or at least appear less regularly. Though I am pro-free-speech she is employed for her opinions so they are relevant (unlike a musician for example)- and I think she should be allowed to tweet what she likes without censorship. so it is not the same as 'cancelling' her.

Unlike the cancel culture lot I would disagree with her social media being impinged and with people being cancelled by association or because they follow her or share a platform with her or even agree with her on something else. Nor would I pester companies not to advertise with platforms that she appears on or in. Nor would I bully her publisher if she had a book deal or a bookshop if it stocked or displayed her work. I just don't want to see her on mainstream tax payer funded TV at the moment.

Apart from anything else this has proved yet again that she is not very bright nor a particularly incisive cultural analyst, so why have her on at all?

All very different to cancelling someone.

Her Twitter account bio says something like 'Luxury Communism now!' Does she have any idea at all what it was like to live in Soviet Russia, or what it's like to be in Communist China now? Not much luxury about unless you were in the ruling elite, as I suppose she would expect to be.

Akin to the tweets from Goldsmiths College Student Union a few years ago talking about sending women to the gulags for re-education. These tiresome numpties haven't got a clue. It's all posturing.

She's part of a group of ageing millennials who are starting to realise that the new generation is fast coming up behind them and making them irrelevant. The other's being people like Owen Jones, Laurie Penny, Jameela Jamal, and possibly Jack Monroe. All of them have written/performed one or two interesting pieces that deserved credit, but years ago would have given them their 15 minutes of fame then retreated into obscurity but an online presence has kept them going far longer than they should have and basically turned them into revealed the fact they are nob heads.

The honest answer is I think following today and the absence of any even faux apologies, she's cancelled herself.

She's an utter fool with nothing of value to say. No idea why she is asked for her opinion on anything.

Apparently it doesn't occur to her that if she hasn't got anything "clearheaded" to say best not say anything at all.
