……portrays Freddie as being absolutely captivating?

The days of Queen were when I was very young so although I knew of them (my mum liked them) I never paid much attention to them.

But I watched the film earlier and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, I couldn’t look away from him. The Actor who plays him is fantastic but I just can’t get over how arousing, mesmerising and sexually alluring he portrayed Freddie Mercury to be.

My mind feels blown!

Is that actually what Freddie was like?

Yes

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2022 20:15

He was a legend and it was so sad when he died. Even if your not a fan of the music, you can't deny that he was one of the most charismatic front men ever , unique and just so different.

Lottapianos · 27/07/2022 20:17

'you can't deny that he was one of the most charismatic front men ever , unique and just so different.'

Absolutely. In interviews, he seemed shy, a bit awkward and softly spoken. On stage though - jaw droppingly charismatic and such a glorious voice. Born to do it

If it was I find it very off putting. But then I was never a fan so if the real person didn’t appeal then an actor wasn’t likely to change that. In actual fact I found his performance more sleazy than anything else but then I thought that about Freddie Mercury also.

Antarcticant · 27/07/2022 20:19

I really enjoyed the film, and I'm old enough to remember Freddie in the 80s though I never saw Queen live. He was indeed very charismatic.. It was very sad when he became obviously ill and then so suddenly after his illness was officially confirmed, his death was announced. I was at college at the time and almost everyone was upset even if they weren't particular Queen fans (similar reaction to the death of Bowie but with no social media back then).

Staynow · 27/07/2022 20:25

I haven't seen the film but I always considered FM to be one of the most unattractive men I had ever seen. I never found him captivating or mesmerising in any way. Just didn't get it at all.

givemeastiffone · 27/07/2022 20:28

I loved the film x

YesJess · 27/07/2022 20:35

I haven't watched it bur Rami Malek was great in Mr Robot.

maddiemookins16mum · 27/07/2022 20:36

Freddie is probably most missed music star ever.
(although George and David come close).
I still recall where I heard the news.

SophieJo · 27/07/2022 20:37

Went with my husband to see it one afternoon. Only about 8 people in the theatre so it was like a private showing. Loved it!
Now find myself tapping my teacup with my teaspoon!

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2022 20:40

I miss George Michael too :(
He had a beautiful voice and was a bit of an outsider , the music industry in general were pretty shitty to him really :(

Itiswasitis90 · 27/07/2022 20:40

I came across this film by mistake and apart from knowing a few songs, I didn't have much knowledge about Queen but was blown away by the film. The actor was amazing and was intrigued by Freddie after watching it.

dudsville · 27/07/2022 20:43

I'm looking guard to seeing it because the actor is amazing, but FM as a concept missed me by at the time. I wonder if it will be like the elvis film, stands on its own as a piece of work?

DontKeepTheFaith · 27/07/2022 20:47

Freddie Mercury was incredible. Such a performer, his voice and the songs, no one quite like Queen.

It was such a huge loss when he died and I still feel it, all these years later. The music of Queen really captivated me from a very young age and I grew up loving Queen. Freddie died when I was a teenager and I remember feeling really upset at the time.

I finally got to see Queen with Adam Lambert live this year and it was literally a dream come true, loved every single moment.

Rami Malek did a really good job in the film.

TrueNorthernBird · 27/07/2022 20:50

I thought the film was abysmal. Genuinely wondered if I were watching a Spinal Tap-esque spoof. Shocking lead performance and a dreadfully hammy narrative. The film company ditched the original director half way through and brought in Dexter Fletcher (who did an outstanding job on Rocket Man).

Thought the film was insulting to the rock god and one in a million performer that was Freddie.

RockinHorseShit · 27/07/2022 20:53

I have an old friend who knew & worked with Freddie & he said he cried when he watched the film because it took him right back to his youth & yes, Freddie really was that fabulous according to him

exnewwifeproblems · 27/07/2022 20:53

You need to find his live aid performance on YouTube. It is absolutely outstanding.

MatildaJayne · 27/07/2022 20:54

I sobbed when he died. I went to the memorial concert at Wembley and pretty much cried all the way through. Surprised me no end!

He was very charismatic and I absolutely loved his voice and stage persona. I wasn’t attracted to him at all, but I was definitely a fan.

ThreeRingCircus · 27/07/2022 20:57

I think Remi's Live Aid performance in the film is incredible, really incredible. Freddie was such a showman and knew how to engage with an audience. I loved the film!

Merryoldgoat · 27/07/2022 20:57

I absolutely adored the film - not especially a Queen or FM fan but heard good things and it was fantastic.

bellsbuss · 27/07/2022 20:57

The live aid scene gave me goosebumps, I would have loved to have seen him live.

Perplexed0522 · 27/07/2022 20:59

This is exactly it. I don’t feel attraction…..but I am riveted by him.

Same here - it made me feel so overwhelmed….borderline emotional!

Freddie was the King

Anyone who tries to tell you it was Elvis is lying. I enjoyed the film as a drama but Remi is a very poor version of the real thing.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 27/07/2022 21:04

Freddie was gift to us all.
So we would always have epic songs and vocals entwined in good memories
