To think that the film Bohemian Rhapsody….

……portrays Freddie as being absolutely captivating?

The days of Queen were when I was very young so although I knew of them (my mum liked them) I never paid much attention to them.

But I watched the film earlier and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, I couldn’t look away from him. The Actor who plays him is fantastic but I just can’t get over how arousing, mesmerising and sexually alluring he portrayed Freddie Mercury to be.

My mind feels blown!

Is that actually what Freddie was like?

The great tragedy of FM's life seems to be that he never found a man he loved like he loved Mary. He wrote 'Love of my Life' about her but was clearly attracted to men. If he had found a male partner that he had that connection with he might have lived a very different life.

Fancydancer1934 · 27/07/2022 23:12

I.was told that Freddie Mercury once solicited a young man for sex. The man in question had a collapsed sphincter due to previous activity. And FMs alleged response was "This one's broken - get me another".

Think about that when you want to feel "emotional"

Yes definitely agree
And astounded to find out in the past few years we are related to Faroukh Bulsara (through my fathers side who is a fellow Parsi) and discovered Faroukhs sister was at my uncles wedding and I had no idea (I was 14 at the time) they kept it very quiet. And because they are the older generation simply weren't phased by it.
So watching the movie for me and my siblings was surreal and emotional ❤❤

Lordylord1 · 27/07/2022 23:22

I was obsessed when I watched this. Was born in 1980.
he was captivating and charismatic. But like anyone else he had his faults. I love him

What think about a bit of third hand gossip on mums net?

lightisnotwhite · 27/07/2022 23:33

it was I find it very off putting. But then I was never a fan so if the real person didn’t appeal then an actor wasn’t likely to change that. In actual fact I found his performance more sleazy than anything else but then I thought that about Freddie Mercury also.

Interesting. I think he’s the opposite of sleazy because Freddy’s so emotionally honest. All the songs are from authenticity and he’s happy t9 take risks musically. He’s got nerve.
Someone said about George Michael. I see the opposite with him. You could tell he was lying in every song. He was never singing to the girls despite the lyrics.

I loved George Michael also and remember 30 years ago laying on a Greek beach with friends listening to his music over and over. Was so sad when he passed as he was an amazing writer and performer.

Vicliz24 · 28/07/2022 05:53

The most amazing captivating front man ever .I adore Freddie and genuinely mourned when he died .

knittingaddict · 28/07/2022 05:54

ChagSameachDoreen · 27/07/2022 22:34

I've never seen the appeal, personally. All I see is his overbite.

You don't find incredible talent attractive?

I thought FM was an incredible human being and the difference between the performer and the man is fascinating. A genuinely lovely man too, apparently.

Roselilly36 · 28/07/2022 05:55

Great film, I loved FM, awesome.

tigger1001 · 28/07/2022 06:40

Freddie was just an amazing performer. Hugely charismatic. Just a fantastic showman.

No doubt he was a flawed individual but these who knew him best certainly loved him and that says a lot.

maddiemookins16mum · 27/07/2022 20:36

Freddie is probably most missed music star ever.
(although George and David come close).
I still recall where I heard the news.

Please. I know it is early, but who is David (… I don’t think I can proceed with my day until I know … all I can think of is Essex)?

undermilkjug · 28/07/2022 07:03

Bowie

Stripeyzebraz · 28/07/2022 07:15

Of course! Thank you. Yes: that’s quite obvious now (… and I so agree!).

Sorry, David.

balalake · 28/07/2022 07:20

I've not watched the film, quite intentionally. I am old enough to remember Queen when Freddie Mercury was alive.

honkeytonkwoman38 · 28/07/2022 07:28

I miss George more. Such a beautiful person inside and out.

ShreddedMarmalade · 28/07/2022 07:29

I discovered Queen as a young teenager and have loved them ever since. Freddie was the best front man ever imo. To the people commenting that he was unattractive... so what?! I loved that, back then, you could have imperfect teeth and not be conventionally attractive but still be a huge star based purely on your talent. Wish it was like that now. Queen are just amazing both on record and live. Freddie is missed so much. I wonder what he would have gone on to do had he survived. Another year or so and the drugs to keep him alive would have existed.

BrandNewBicep · 28/07/2022 07:36

Loved Queen, but thought the film was truly appalling. The Live Aid concert bit was the best bit.

KatherineJaneway · 28/07/2022 07:41

I love Freddie and thought the film captured him very well.

Moonmelodies · 28/07/2022 07:58

He was no Elvis.

whenwillthemadnessend · 28/07/2022 09:44

I love that film.

I love the relationship between him and Mary and I'm glad they managed to move in and find love again.

I love the cats too as I'm A mad cat person myself.

mydogsteppedonabee · 28/07/2022 09:52

This thread made me smile. I adore Freddie and Queen. He was such a special individual who will be adored by generations to come.
Thy are 50 years in and still cultivating new fan bases.
The music is just captivating. I watch the live aid set, Queen live at Wembley, Hungarian rhapsody as well as some of their South American tours regularly.
My kids love Queen
My cat is called Freddie
We saw the recent QAL tour and it was so emotional. Freddie made a couple of appearances on the big screen and there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Whilst there were some factual inaccuracies in the movie, I thought it portrayed the man amazingly well.
Brian and Roger are doing so many positives with Freddie's legacy.

Perplexed0522 · 28/07/2022 10:08
