To eat croissant with butter?

We’re in France and I’m enjoying a wee swipe of butter on my morning croissant. I KNOW they’re made with a shit ton of butter already but I just think an extra bit of salty creamy French butter takes it over the top. DH muttering about heart attacks as he nibbles his poor man’s breakfast. Who IBU?

There is no joy in a croissant without a good smear of delicious salty butter on top.

dementedpixie · 24/07/2022 08:42

No jam as well?

DilemmaDelilah · 24/07/2022 08:44

Definitely butter and jam!

TheKeatingFive · 24/07/2022 08:45

Do what you want 😆

stuntbubbles · 24/07/2022 08:45

Jam only, you monster.

Babyiwantabump · 24/07/2022 08:46

Another vote for butter AND Jam here!!

pd339 · 24/07/2022 08:46

Who spends their time on holiday asking mumsnet what they should eat for breakfast?

No jam as well?

You definitely need jam to go with the lovely salty butter.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 24/07/2022 08:46

Always butter & jam. And warmed croissant so the butter melts……now I’m craving one!

Summerof22 · 24/07/2022 08:46

Mmm, going to France next week and you’ve made me look forward to it even more.

any particular butter brand you’d recommend? Or are they all nice and salty?

Ontomatopea · 24/07/2022 08:47

Eat what you like. It's your body.

georgarina · 24/07/2022 08:48

Couldn't stand it, they're buttery enough as they are! Butter on top would make me feel sick.

But I love toast with tons of butter and scones with an unreasonable amount of jam and cream. It's just preference!

catless · 24/07/2022 08:49

There's something about croissants in France that makes them extra delicious on their own, but back home definitely butter and jam, preferably raspberry.

Thegreatestshowoff · 24/07/2022 08:49

Butter and apricot jam!

cushioncovers · 24/07/2022 08:50

Butter and jam obviously

WOPTF · 24/07/2022 08:53

YANBU. I can't wait to get to France next month and plan to exist on baked goods, butter and cheese almost exclusively.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 24/07/2022 08:58

Butter and honey in this house, croissant warmed up so the butter melts.

Restingbitchface01 · 24/07/2022 09:01

Bacon and cheese here......I'll get my coat 😄

abovedecknotbelow · 24/07/2022 09:12

Of course butter.

babyjellyfish · 24/07/2022 09:13

Not my taste (I prefer them plain or with a bit of jam) but you do you, OP.

Enjoy your breakfast.

Allmarbleslost · 24/07/2022 09:16

Butter and strawberry jam every time.

TroysMammy · 24/07/2022 09:17

I like them with ham and cheese, no butter.

newtb · 24/07/2022 09:18

Ham and cheese croissant every time

LunaLoveFood · 24/07/2022 09:19

You need 2. The first with butter and cheese the second with butter and jam.

Skinterior · 24/07/2022 09:21

Ham and cheese obvs. Not butter on a proper one, just on the cheap ones that don't already come full of the stuff
