To eat croissant with butter?

We’re in France and I’m enjoying a wee swipe of butter on my morning croissant. I KNOW they’re made with a shit ton of butter already but I just think an extra bit of salty creamy French butter takes it over the top. DH muttering about heart attacks as he nibbles his poor man’s breakfast. Who IBU?

Butter and jam - everyone knows that. The croissant should not be heated so the cool salty butter sits on top of it. Apricot conserve is the best, strawberry is a close second.

I like chilled butter on my croissant, nothing else. The flakey slightly sweet pasty and the cold salty butter is a perfect match.
