For my fiancé's birthday present I bought a photo studio experience so he could have professionally taken photos of him and his 3 sons. On the day we were going back to the studio to choose the photos his ex wife asked one of their sons to take photos of the pictures on his phone for her to keep. This has upset me because the photos were my present to my fiancé. Fair enough if she wants some professional photos of her sons but I'd rather she had asked for details of the studio so she could purchase the photos from them. I've spoken to my fiance about this and he thinks his ex wife has done nothing wrong and I'm the one in the wrong for having an issue with it. Am I missing something here?

What exactly is your problem with this?

coffeecupsandfairylights · 19/07/2022 22:23

I really don't see the issue.

Dreamwhisper · 19/07/2022 22:25

Um.

I'd let it go - I'm assuming it's pictures of the son's she wants and not of your DP? The latter would be a bit weird tbf

FetchezLaVache · 19/07/2022 22:25

It's just you, I reckon.

Dryshampooandcoffee · 19/07/2022 22:26

I think any parent has a right to access any pictures of their own child.

RaininSummer · 19/07/2022 22:26

It's pretty cheeky to do that to the studio isn't it?

MiddleParking · 19/07/2022 22:26

I think it’s a slightly odd present for you to give him if you’re sensitive to stuff like this.

Lindy2 · 19/07/2022 22:27

She doesn't want to get involved in your present to your fiance but she does want to see what the professional photos of her sons look like.

I don't see what the problem is.

Caminante · 19/07/2022 22:27

Oh come on, thats a little bit petty. She's not exactly stealing a high quality print off you. It's just a screen shot of her own kids. Be a little compassionate here.

BewareOfTheCarpet · 19/07/2022 22:27

I’d find a boyfriend who doesn’t have kids if you have a problem with this.

it is very bad for his children to be aware of —unnecessary and nonsensical— conflict.

they come first. Not you I’m afraid.

My thoughts exactly

BewareOfTheCarpet · 19/07/2022 22:28

Strike through fail 🙄

huuskymam · 19/07/2022 22:28

I'm not seeing an issue. Her kids are getting professional photos done and she wants one for her phone. It would be different if she wanted one of her ex though.

alexdgr8 · 19/07/2022 22:29

i agree with the consensus.

BewareOfTheCarpet · 19/07/2022 22:29

Also, if you need it spelt out, Lindy22 has done so for you.

Nat6999 · 19/07/2022 22:30

I went mad when my brother had paid for a photo session for me, exh & ds when ds was born & out of the photos we gave one each to the grandparents, sil on exh side took the photo without asking & got it copied, I was fuming.

HouseInTheHills · 19/07/2022 22:31

So if she paid for them you wouldn’t mind her having them? I don’t see why that matters to you.

CombatBarbie · 19/07/2022 22:31

I'm. Surprised the studio didn't ask for them to be deleted. However, am guessing they didn't notice.

Adeleskirts · 19/07/2022 22:31

Bit of an odd present but I can’t see why you are being weird about the photos and declaring she can’t have copies unless she pays, they are her kids roo

is there a back story, are you jealous of her?

but yeah, is just you.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 19/07/2022 22:27

My thoughts exactly

Not really once you’ve bought them the studio doesn’t really give a shit who photos them, they don’t monitor your home or anything.

BotterMon · 19/07/2022 22:35

From a copyright point of view it's illegal so she is being extremely unreasonable as is your DP for allowing it.

Can you just imagine how shit the quality of the photos is going to be, given someone is taking a photo with a camera phone of a photo?! It will look absolutely awful, not like she could get it printed or anything anyway

Ummm why? Wasn’t it nice that she wanted a picture of you in her home?

Just you. It’s pics of her kids. I share those with my ex and vice versa.
