Would you go to a doggy disco and what would you expect.
Would you just like to meet other people with dogs?
Would you like to dance with your dog?
Can you tell me your thoughts, good or bad please?

I'm sure Tchaikovsky would be thrilled for his music to be compared to disco music...
I think he's past having his feelings hurt

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 17/07/2022 16:03

Not something I would want to go to, but if they introduce Cat Ice-skating I would be along like a shot.🐱⛸️

Goldfish tennis? Hamster paintballing?
Horse bowling? That one I'd definitely do

kindlyensure · 17/07/2022 16:38

Monkey Tennis

Frequency · 17/07/2022 16:40

I'd need more information.

How loud?
How many dogs?
Off lead or on lead?
Any intact males?
Who is testifying as to the temprement of these dogs because you can't trust every owner to operate common sense?
What is the mix of ages/breeds/sizes?
Structured activities or juts a free for all?
Size of the venue and space per dog?
Any qualified behaviourists present?

iklboo · 17/07/2022 16:41

Dogs don't dance & loud music, lots of people and flashing lights will be stressful - plus loads of other dogs.

FourChimneys · 17/07/2022 16:45

Discos are for humans, or at least those who like pop music.
Dogs are animals and should be treated as such. They are not toys or accessories.

I expect the real purpose of a dog disco is to put it on Instagram though rather than for the enjoyment of the dogs.

dottypotter · 17/07/2022 16:47

If you google dog disco alot comes up. Seems they di run.

Rogue1001MNer · 17/07/2022 16:49

A dogging disco might be more entertaining.

My dog would hate it, and she's got no sense of rhythm, so it's a no from her and from me.
To both.

TenoringBehind · 17/07/2022 16:50

My idea of hell! Don’t think dogs would be that keen either.

TenoringBehind · 17/07/2022 16:51

If I wanted to meet other dog walkers I’d rather go for a walk.

Blackdiame · 17/07/2022 17:02

I'll stick the radio on.

Trulyweird1 · 17/07/2022 17:03

You are being unreasonable for using the word doggy.
Canine Disco sounds like a nightmare for my dogs.
And while we are on it, and acknowledging that you did not suggest it , OP -
dogs dancing at Crufts is an abomination; show dogs working, doing field trials, sniffing drugs, whatever, but don’t dress the poor things up and train them to do unnatural things
OK, clearly together heat is getting to me too.

Mummyoflabradors · 17/07/2022 17:06

Well one of mine is a really good dancer………think strictly type dancing……..the other one has four left paws so probs not🤔

BritWifeInUSA · 17/07/2022 17:10

Georgeskitchen · 17/07/2022 16:03

Just asked my dog.
He's up for it. He wants to know if you will be playing Hounds of Love 🤣🤣😍

Mine was hoping they’d be playing some Bach.

cbatopainttheshed · 17/07/2022 17:19

YABU.

No. Just no.

Diplidocus4 · 17/07/2022 17:19
Confused I was listening to Claudia on Saturday morning radio 2 while at work - rarely but fairly sure that's who it was. She apparently does a 10:00 news - what's your 10:00 news type thing.

Lady came on to say she had been on a date with her dog .......
Taken her dog on a date - is what I thought she meant ? Ok ish ?
But no,
She goes out for meals NYE etc with the dog , 7 course dinner etc where they were moved to a separate room in the restaurant due to the dog going .....

AllFreeOwls · 17/07/2022 17:21

OP - definitely some more information needed her, about the whole set up and especially about if there is going to be loud music?
I've googled it and seen a few places have done Dachshund discos, but can't see ones for any/every breed of dog

DiscoBadgers · 17/07/2022 17:25

No. Just no. I would hate it. The dog would hate it. There’s bound to be a fight and someone will get bitten, someone else will fall over another dog’s lead, you wouldn’t be able to serve any food as the dogs would go mad - just no.

Monkey Tennis

I think dogs would like to go youth hostelling with Chris Eubank too.

MikeWozniaksMoustache · 17/07/2022 17:27

Sounds like hell in a tacky idea. Lights could confuse and annoy, music would need to be quiet due to the sensitive nature of dogs hearing, seems like it would need to be indoors so would stink and be hot, plus it’s an uncomfortable environment for a dog. I would actively judge anyone who took there dog to something like this.

SirChenjins · 17/07/2022 17:28

I would expect over-stimulated dogs and lots of poo and wee.

Dogs don’t need discos, they’re animals. Join a local dog group, go on dog walks, and meet other owners that way.

SarahSissions · 17/07/2022 17:32

Just sounds horrible.

TiaraBoo · 17/07/2022 17:33

Would you go to a doggy disco and what would you expect.
No I wouldn’t go

Would you just like to meet other people with dogs?
I meet people with dogs when I’m out walking my dog

Would you like to dance with your dog?
No

Can you tell me your thoughts, good or bad please?
Think it sounds crazy

AllFreeOwls · 17/07/2022 17:41

Would you go to a doggy disco and what would you expect
No, if it had loud music and lights, that doesn't seem fair on dogs.

Would you just like to meet other people with dogs
Yes, I'd just like more socialisation sessions in my area. The nearest one is good but an hour away.

Would you like to dance with your dog
No, I've got a giant breed and I think it would cause carnage.

Can you tell me your thoughts, good or bad please
Dog socialisation sessions, yes...a disco, no.

girlfriend44 · 17/07/2022 15:46

Music does help distress dogs actually.

And that is why spelling matters!
