Dog Disco

Would you go to a doggy disco and what would you expect.
Would you just like to meet other people with dogs?
Would you like to dance with your dog?
Can you tell me your thoughts, good or bad please?

No. Just no. I would hate it. The dog would hate it. There’s bound to be a fight and someone will get bitten, someone else will fall over another dog’s lead, you wouldn’t be able to serve any food as the dogs would go mad - just no.

Like a normal human disco then

SheilaWilde · 18/07/2022 12:12

No. No. NO.
What on earth would dogs get out of it? Apart from being completely distressed and overwhelmed.

twistyizzy · 18/07/2022 12:16

Please tell me this is a wind up?
Why do we have to humanise dogs 🙄? Dogs enjoy going for walks, sniffing and eating. What you are describing sounds extremely stressful for the majority of dogs.

@twistyizzy I was just coming on to say the same thing about the 'humanising' of dogs. They are animals not humans. They don't need to go shopping, sit on chairs/sofas and they definitely don't need to go to a disco.

I have actually been to a Pug Party. This was about 10 years ago and it was a proper event in the southeast to which many many people brought their pugs (including my parents which was why we attended). It was held in a field and there was wall to wall pugs and pug puppies everywhere you looked. There were pug races, pug fancy dress (I recall one dressed as King Henry VIII) and a paddling pool for hot pugs. They all seemed to be very excited and enjoyed sniffing each others butts and making friends. It was actually very sweet. I think maybe an event like this works best with a friendly, laid back type of breed.

My dog prefers classical music - Bach, or if he's really excited Offenbach.

Faccthefacker · 18/07/2022 12:40

So what, op? You came up with a cute name and are now trying to manufacture a concept to go behind it? Odd way round….

It's not a concept - dog discos are already actual things.

Shite-fest.

We took our Dachshund to a "Dachshund Disco" a few weeks back. Music isn't loud, it was more of a theme so like the doggy cafes but with glow sticks.
Our dog had a great time running around off the lead with other Dachshunds, we had a drink and he had a puppacino. It was a nice way to spend an hour or 2 and allow him to socialise with other dogs in an enclosed safe space.

I know it sounds silly but these things are quite popular and if I had nothing else on I would go again.

AryaStarkWolf · 19/07/2022 15:02

ummm no

Poor Pugs should have been bred out years ago (or never bred in the first place)

You thought you had come across everything in the world!! I have led a sheltered life as a non dog owner it seems.

AndiPandi70 · 19/07/2022 18:55

Those of you who find the idea weird may find it even weirder that it's not just dog owners who go to these. People who don't have dogs also attend. I've been to a dachshund Disco and pup up cafe and at both there were people who either just wanted to meet dogs or were thinking of getting one and wanted to meet some and talk to owners. Most of these events are breed specific.

I get why people think its silly but as someone who used to go to SciFi Conventions I gave up worrying what other people thought of things I found fun😀

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 19/07/2022 19:37

I think the exhibits at comicon are either willing or plastic though! Not animals

AndiPandi70 · 19/07/2022 20:13

Lol, fair point. I wasn't comparing the 2 in that sense just that what some people find fun isn't for others. Also, any decent dog owner wouldn't stay if their dog was distressed in anyway.

Our dog enjoyed himself, he loved playing with other sausage dogs and getting a wee treat. We left early as he was tired. He loves playing chase so tired himself out with so many dogs his size, his dog pals from the park are all so much bigger.
