Christmas presents in July

LionKween · 15/07/2022 16:05

I know itโ€™s July ๐Ÿ˜‚, just wondering if anyone else has already bought Christmas presents? I found some really nice jumpers and other clothing in the sale (60% off), so I bought them and will keep for Christmas, mainly to spread the cost out a bit. My friend thinks Iโ€™m being very unreasonable, but is it that bad..? ๐ŸŽ„Just hoping Iโ€™ll remember by then where I hid them..

I totally agree with you! Spread the cost is the best way to go; I couldnโ€™t afford half the nice things I get my DC and family if I had to squeeze it from one December pay check!

ShaunaTheSheep · 15/07/2022 16:09

You may get a better response in the Christmas topic. Plenty of folk over there who do their shopping all year round.

Oh really, so there are more like me then.. Not sure if I dare, could be expensive. ๐Ÿ˜…

Good for you, several of us here are doing the same thing!

elQuintoConyo · 15/07/2022 16:14

I've got a couple of things : banana socks for DS, fidget toy half price, something for a friend. But not a lot. Haven't had our August holiday yet! I usually start keeping my eyes peeled in September.

marmitegirl01 · 15/07/2022 16:17

If I saw something Iโ€™d get it now but wouldnโ€™t specifically shop for it yet.
I do save for it through the year tho so I donโ€™t have to find a lump sum in Dec! ๐ŸŽ„ ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป

Fundays12 · 15/07/2022 16:20

I got Christmas PJ's and jumpers in Jan sale. I have bought little bits for my kids such as Lego on sale etc. I also have ยฃ450 away for it. I don't get everything but do buy bits.

SparkyBlue · 15/07/2022 16:24

Yes I have. My mum was like this and I swore this year I was going to get better at budgeting. I bought a kindle for DD1 on Amazon prime day and an urban decay make up set that had massive reductions a few weeks ago. I've also a game put away for DD2 and I plan on getting Santa organised early and going to start buying extra bottles of wine etc to stash away for Christmas so no massive bills especially this year with energy prices soaring. So I'll keep my eye on reductions in the summer sales for gifts.

OldTinHat · 15/07/2022 16:39

I've bought everything apart from for my parents and DS1 - but I know what I'm getting!

I do too (a bit), but I know these clothes wonโ€™t be in the sale in December, they never are.. But itโ€™s a good idea to save if you can.

Christmas cards were on the shelves in our local Clintonโ€™s last weekend ๐Ÿ˜. So it must be time to start.

Have just seen a Christmas tree ad on tv as well, so looks like present shopping is fineโ€ฆ

HermoineJeanGranger · 15/07/2022 16:44

I'm also getting a head start on Christmas shopping this year! I know what DH and I are going to purchase DS (bought first thing) and I've nearly finished DS gift guide for extended family. No shame in getting the ball rolling, your friends will be jelly come November ;).
Though admittedly I'm a Santa's elf married to the Grinch! but not even he can dampen my Christmas in July spirit! xx

LaTangerina · 15/07/2022 16:45

Yes I've bought lots! I nearly have one child entirely shopped for & have stocking stuffers for the elder two.
No such thing as too early!
I actually started in the sales just after Christmas. Just for stocking stuffers.
But last few weeks have really ramped things up ๐Ÿ˜„

Imissprosecco · 15/07/2022 16:45

I have a present stashed away for DS that I bought in Feb 2021. Beat that ๐Ÿ˜„
Come over to the Christmas board and join your people!

Maggiesgirl · 15/07/2022 16:45

I finished this month. DDIL hosting thisyearso won't even have to worry about food much.

LubaLuca · 15/07/2022 16:48

I can't be arsed to think about Christmas when I'm enjoying summer, and I think I'd probably spend more if I 'spread the cost' because I'd just keep buying more pointless toot to add to the pile.

I love Christmas, and I love buying presents, but I like to keep it for December.

I bought some matching Christmas outfits in the Next sale last week! I also got some great presents at an NCT sale new in the box a few weeks ago. No point in waiting until the week before and paying 5x the price!

I've already done the stockings for my two! I tend to look out for little things during the year I know they'll like. Just got the last thing for both of them a week or so ago.

ManateeFair · 15/07/2022 16:56

I donโ€™t tend to shop so early these days but I used to do it from around June/July onwards to spread the cost and it did make things less stressful so Iโ€™m considering doing it again this year, especially if I happen to spot something unusual that I know I might not be able to find again.

AxolotlEars · 15/07/2022 16:59

I have bought loads! I just checked my list and I have the majority of them. I make a lot of Christmas decorations as small gifts which I haven't done yet. I will probably do those during the summer holidays

canonlydoblue · 15/07/2022 17:02

Funnily enough, I bought three Christmas presents today and felt quite smug.
