2 kids age 8 and 6 would like the pool out ive said no because its not really an appropriate time there in school every day untill 4 we have plans this weekend so it won't get used and then next week when they finish school on Thursday- on Friday were away for 5 days so its not practical then either id be putting it up blowing it up and filling it pretty deep for them pretty much not to use it as its far too hot after school at the moment and we have to get on with the evening things dinner baths after school clubs which are Tuesday and weds and then bed. Plus the amount of water it uses costs!

Anyway a friend said im being unfair and should let them have it up

Is your pool up ???
I'll happily put it up when we come back from holiday because then they've got all day in it for 4 weeks untill another holiday we've got

How big a deal is it really to get it up and stick the hose in it? It's so light and hot in the evenings they could be playing for 3 hours or so after school -

don't be a misery.

SnowyPetals · 14/07/2022 07:41

Surely this weather is precisely the time for the pool. How miserable of you, your poor kids.

Harridance · 14/07/2022 07:41

I don't have one but if I did I would put it up

Maltester71 · 14/07/2022 07:43

Itll probably be too cold once you decide it’s time to put it up.

paddling pools are opportunistic!

Finfintytint · 14/07/2022 07:43

How can it be too hot to use a pool? Put it up ya misery 😁

urrrgh46 · 14/07/2022 07:43

Yeah you're definite BU - it's very hot. It's great fun and keeps the kids active. There is plenty of time to play in the pool after school.

RaininSummer · 14/07/2022 07:44

Now is the time. The weather will change soon no doubt.

Gazelda · 14/07/2022 07:44

I can't see the point of having a pool if you don't put it up in a heatwave that's lasted this long and is forecast for the foreseeable?

I'm afraid it does read that you're being a miserable killjoy.

But I also get that life is exhausting at the moment and one more thing to deal with and clean/refill daily can feel a faff.

SparklingPeach · 14/07/2022 07:45

It's so hot! Put it up and let them cool down.

Prinnny · 14/07/2022 07:45

Yes YABU, the grinch who stole summer.

Booked · 14/07/2022 07:46

If their after school clubs are Tuesday and weds then surely today and tomorrow after school are the perfect opportunity for it?

Get it filled

Oblomov22 · 14/07/2022 07:47

Eh? God yes. Paddling pool has been up for a week. Normally it's cool enough to be refreshing when you get home and dip your feet in. But this time the water itself is just too warm, not doing it for me! Ds2 had used it every day though!

Norden · 14/07/2022 07:48

Put it up! It was boiling last night until after sun-down. Let them enjoy the hot weather!

Bayleaf25 · 14/07/2022 07:49

Definitely being unreasonable. It’s perfect weather to have the pool up (and too darn hot for most other activities anyway unless they are in an aircon building).

GabriellaMontez · 14/07/2022 07:49

You're a total meany!

StottyCakeandJam · 14/07/2022 07:50

Good Lord, if I had one it would be up & I’d be in there with them. YAB very U.

GabriellaMontez · 14/07/2022 07:51

Just give them a quick shower afterwards. Who wants a bath in this weather ?

MackenCheese · 14/07/2022 07:52

I say get it up before the hosepipe ban comes along! 😂

NerrSnerr · 14/07/2022 07:52

Just put it up. Ours had a pre bed dip in theres the other night at 8pm. Paddling pools are so exciting for little ones.

Vikinga · 14/07/2022 07:53

It makes sense to have q pool put now in this heat. Let them get home from school and have fun!

WinterMusings · 14/07/2022 07:54

Let me think...

heatwave, 6 hours of daylight after school,

how could you possibly be unreasonable?

how can it be 'too hot' after school for a lovely splash in a pool??

you're being incredibly weird.

sort the pool out today while they're at school, it'll be a lovely surprise for them.

girlmom21 · 14/07/2022 07:54

Put it up OP

Thefriendlymoth · 14/07/2022 07:56

My two have been in a teeny, quick to fill blow up pool every night this week. 😂 It’s too hot for them to do anything but. I understand it’s a faff if you have a much larger pool but surely this is the perfect time to make use of it - 5 days is plenty of time to pop it away after they’ve cooled off.

NoMichaelNo · 14/07/2022 07:57

Yeah you’re being weird, get it up.

Sheepareawesome · 14/07/2022 07:57

Definitely put it up.
