2 kids age 8 and 6 would like the pool out ive said no because its not really an appropriate time there in school every day untill 4 we have plans this weekend so it won't get used and then next week when they finish school on Thursday- on Friday were away for 5 days so its not practical then either id be putting it up blowing it up and filling it pretty deep for them pretty much not to use it as its far too hot after school at the moment and we have to get on with the evening things dinner baths after school clubs which are Tuesday and weds and then bed. Plus the amount of water it uses costs!

Anyway a friend said im being unfair and should let them have it up

Is your pool up ???
I'll happily put it up when we come back from holiday because then they've got all day in it for 4 weeks untill another holiday we've got

Put the flippin pool up!

TenoringBehind · 14/07/2022 07:58

Put it up!

DisgruntledPelican · 14/07/2022 07:59

I get where your head is at because at the weekend I spent three times as long sorting out and filling the paddling pool than DS spent playing in it - but just go with the flow. Like PP have said, if not now then when?

plus it can replace a bath, surely? 😂

AlisonDonut · 14/07/2022 07:59

It's a kids pool, not an ornament.

coffeecupsandfairylights · 14/07/2022 08:00

Hugely unreasonable!

It's roasting - let them have their pool!

Ontomatopea · 14/07/2022 08:00

Dependa where you are in the country a few places have been told to try and conserve water so they don't have to do hosepipe bans etc

ZooMount · 14/07/2022 08:00

Definitely put it up, and it counts as a bath in this house! Perfect entertainment for after school, and now can it be too hot for a cooling pool 🤦🏼‍♀️

TheRookie · 14/07/2022 08:05

The kids are old enough that you don't need to watch them constantly while they're in the pool so you can get on with dinner and the 'evening things ' while they have a ball in the pool, then they come in for tea at what 6? Then it's showers and bed after that! You're being so mean!

Wiglio · 14/07/2022 08:09

Knowing it’s there but not being put up isn’t nice for you kids OP
please put it up for them

araiwa · 14/07/2022 08:10

Too hot for a pool??

Ffs

itsgettingweird · 14/07/2022 08:11

If you are out after school then it probably won't get used.

However unless you are out all weekend and have no spare few hours around the house where someone can keep an eye on them then yes yabu!

And if you get it up now it'll warm up the next 2 days so less moaning about how cold it is Grin

DilemmaDelilah · 14/07/2022 08:11

I completely understand where you're coming from - it can be a real faff to have to fill and empty the pool especially when you're going to have to supervise the little one closely. However this is the ideal time to have the pool out and they will probably enjoy it a whole lot more than going out to other activities in this heat maybe?. I don't know what you have planned for this weekend, but if it isn't something you have already paid for or it doesn't let down other people maybe just let them play in the pool instead? At least it is nearly free, it doesn't involve driving anywhere or going on public transport in the heat, and, in my opinion, it is far less exhausting than supervising activities whilst out. Depending on what you had planned, could you do that on a rainy or cooler weekend instead?

And I think it is most rude and unfair for other MNs to call you a misery or a grinch - they don't know your circumstances any more than I do.... And I know this is MN but since when do normal people think it is acceptable behaviour to call people names because they don't think the way you do!

NotKatherineRyan · 14/07/2022 08:11

Got to be a reverse. OP you’re actually the paddling pool aren’t you?

I use to Chuck ds is paddling pool instead of bath too 🤣🤣

Footbal · 14/07/2022 08:13

Put it up. I don't live in the UK so my DC are on school holidays. I get up every morning and set the pool up. It was so warm here that my DH had a dip at 9pm the other night.

GoldPig · 14/07/2022 08:13

At her than bath/showers, give them a wash in the paddling pool. Sorted.

GoldPig · 14/07/2022 08:13

*rather

DilemmaDelilah · 14/07/2022 08:13

And I have just realised the little one is 6, so will require less supervision and giving you more time to yourself.... A bonus in my book!

Testina · 14/07/2022 08:16

Weird as fuck. Why did you actually buy it?

BurbageBrook · 14/07/2022 08:17

YABU. Unclench.

OhmygodDont · 14/07/2022 08:19

Of course you put it up. Ours has been up since April.

Paigeworkerx · 14/07/2022 08:19

Put it up and cover it with a bed sheet for when you’re not using it, it’ll stop stuff flying into it.

Surely it’s going up at weekend anyway?

I read most of the comments as lighthearted to be honest!

Iwantmyoldnameback · 14/07/2022 08:22

If not now, when?

RosesAndHellebores · 14/07/2022 08:22

Put it up, they can have an hour at least playing, skip the bath, quick hose down with soap which will be hilarious and off to bed at 9ish. Let them have their salad days.
