Cliche sayings that grind your gears!

Am I the only one who finds cliche sayings e.g. Facebook quotes Instagram quotes highly annoying. I feel like a lot of people used them to self soothe but I can’t help but find them extremely annoying especially the super obvious ones.

Some of the many that annoy me are:
I am working on me.
If they don’t accept you at your worst, they don’t deserve you at your best.

What cliche quotes or sayings grind your gears?

Okay, but now I need to know what David Bowie thought about badgers...

MiddleNameJane · 11/07/2022 15:32

Yes to all of these! I also need to add kind of suggestive sayings like "Hairy muff" for "fair enough" , or "That's what she said!"

often said by leery middle-aged blokes at work who fancy themselves as comedians.

When people refer to their life in chapters ie. they’re starting a new “chapter”. Since when were our lives a story that anyone else is going to read?

I have to disagree with “It is what it is” though. Sometimes, it really is… what it is.

Also can’t stand ‘my journey’

GriddleScone · 11/07/2022 15:58

Worshipped the ground he/she walked on.
Just doesn't sound like a good thing

Jasmine5552 · 11/07/2022 16:03

'At the end of the day' is one of my least favourite phrases.

I love the bones of him - ugh.

Awful.

My mum used to say this to DS, in general she is cringe and weird so I thought she made this up.
Where the hell did the saying come from?! Hate it.

I’m stepping away from all the drama - generally said by drama llamas.
I thought I’d stopped hearing it but Adele said words to the effect in Desert Isalnd Discs.

"you have the same number of hours in a day as Beyonce"

Who decided Beyonce was especially productive?

Proud mama.

Tired mama.

‘I love him to death’ said by an elderly relative about my son…
