I. currently in hospital with a rather embarrassing problem.

I woke this morning and felt a really sharp pain in my right thigh. Then it went numb. Then earlier I went to the toilet and realised I'd wet myself. I didn't even feel it. So 111 sent me to A and E. So now I'm waiting on the A and E doctor but it's still a 4 and a half hour wait to be seen

So while I'm waiting I'd love to read your tales of woo.

Except my older ds was at his df's...

Just last week I was sat in my office and a two pound coin came spinning under the door.

I told my DH to stop messing about, what was he up to and he shouted back from the bathroom across the hall what was I on about?

Nobody else was in the house…

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/07/2022 22:16

Ooh a ghost throwing money! I could do with one of those

I once stayed in a very old B&B, the room was on a split level with half being the old building and half an extension. I walked from the new part into the old (one room to another) and instantly knew there was something(one) else in the room.

The next morning the owner asked if I'd slept well, I said yes, and they replied "it's haunted you know". I knew instantly!

As a student, lived in an old house where me and my housemates would hear someone in the kitchen bashing the pots and pans about.

At first I thought it was just me, until one evening I mentioned it and they all said they'd heard the same on several separate occasions. We'd all gone and checked who was making the racket to find the kitchen empty.

I also heard someone come up the stairs and prowl about one evening. Checked the house thoroughly, there was no one there.

Strange shadows in midair as well seen by two of us in different occasions.

Never harmed us though so we just got on with it lol

eatingasatsuma · 09/07/2022 22:21

PS I hope you're okay, OP!

007DoubleOSeven · 09/07/2022 22:21

I'm sorry you've had such a crap experience today and hope they see you soon and get you sorted quickly. You're in the right place Flowers

Went to the coast on a day trip. Got back late. As we unlocked the door a lovely smell of baking wafted out, like cake and apple pie.
The oven was cold and I hadn't baked for weeks.
Telling my neiighbour next day about it I was still puzzled.
He looked startled and told me that the lady who first bought the house in 1935, used to bake all day and give away apple pies and cakes to all the neighbours.
He was born in his house and remembers it vividly. Strange.!!
Hope you're ok and are better soon

Clarich007 · 09/07/2022 22:30

Sorry I meant to say 'who first bought our house'

Sorry I meant to say 'who first bought our house'

Ooh that is strange! Did the ghost leave a pie or just the yummy smell Grin

Another one from a friend at work.
She couldn't stand a ticking clock, so wouldn't have one in the house.
One night she and husband were laying in bed when she heard the stairs creak and footsteps coming up the stairs. Also she could hear a loudly ticking clock being held by whatever was coming up the stairs. It came closer and closer, passed their bedroom door and went into the spare room. No one else lived in the house.
She had just about convinced herself that she was hearing things, when her husband turned to her and said "omg, did you hear it too!!"

HerRoyalHappiness · 09/07/2022 22:49

i also had a spooky student house. It would be quite normal and usual to hear house sounds (people moving round, up and down the stairs) only to realise there was nobody else about. Parts of the house felt very ‘off’ and I hated going to the bathroom at night. My room always felt very calm in comparison, a sanctuary, safe and not at all threatening. One day I lifted a bit of carpet (can’t remember why) and discovered that the whole area of the room had runes carved into the floorboards - apparently runes of protection

007DoubleOSeven · 09/07/2022 23:37

@Clarich007 that sounds wonderful! Wish my ghost had got baking!

@CaptainBeakyandhisband not heard of runes being carved into buildings before, at least in the UK. Most old houses here will have had something built in for protection though, witches bottles, cat skulls, etc. The practice went on until quite recently!

@HerRoyalHappiness I hope you're seen soon, you must be longing for your bed Flowers Good luck xx

Gonnabegrandma · 09/07/2022 23:44

We moved into an old Victorian house without a thought ! Soon after we keit hearing people walking around and paintings from the walls would end up on our bed !!! After closing/ making a lift hatch that stopped but not before an enormous mirror seemed to jump off the wall and smash . At the same time my 2 children kept telling me about the old lady who used to sit on the end of their beds !!!! And the room was above our kitchen and we used to get a urine type substance running down the wall from that room …. It was creepy . My mum would never babysit there even though we hadn’t told her of the goings on she said it freaked her out

Gonnabegrandma · 09/07/2022 23:46

Oh gosh sorry hope you are seen soon ! A and e here is like a patch up satiation in a war zone ,so I hope yours is better

My Ddad died 38 years ago when my Ddaughter was just a baby of 8 months old. On the evening of the day he'd passed away,I went into DD's bedroom to check on her just before I went to bed,and noticed that the mobile on her cot was playing, very slowly,as if it had been going for several minutes. I'd wound it up several hours earlier when I'd put her to bed,and it only played for 5 minutes. There was also a strong smell of cigar smoke. Neither myself or my DH smoked cigars but my Ddad was a cigar smoker for much of his adult life. I felt that he was paying his granddaughter one last visit.

On the night my friend’s mother died, their landline rang. He picked up the phone, it was an open line but nobody spoke. He hung up, dialled 1471, and found that the number was… their own landline number.

Just the other day around 3,30pm I needed to nip to the loo. Only me and the dog in the house, but foster son 12 due in shortly.
Sitting on the loo(downstairs) I heard a noise in the kitchen , assumed it was FS and then the door handle moved and rattled. Dog jumped up barking and I told him it was ok it was just D. I said I wouldn't be long.
Came out no sign of FS, checked right through house, doors locked. Checked the time , too early for FS to be in from bus. He arrived 10 mins later!

No idea what it was.👻

Hope you're ok and you get some answers X x

Recently I have been hearing my sons voice, clear as day, shout for me or ask questions while I'm in the house. I go find him and ask what he wants and he denies calling me. I didn't think much of it to be honest as there's always music/TV/Console blaring somewhere so I assumed I had just misheard. It then began happening when he's at school or out with friends. Always the same DC (We have 4 between us). I put it down to maybe a neighbour having a similar sounding voice. I didn't mention it to anyone until one day I saw DH asking the same DC what he wanted and DC saying he had not called him. We then chatted and DH said its been happening to him for weeks and he also hears it when DC is out. Cannot for the life of us figure out what/who it is. DC isn't much of a joker so I do not think it's him playing a prank. There is clearly a logical explanation but it it sounds exactly like DC, coming from his bedroom or a direction he is in (if he's home), using expressions and phrases he would use, in very clear sentences.

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/07/2022 03:33

Got seen at 2

Waiting for an MRI. I've got a catheter in because I'm completely numb down there so can't feel when I need the loo. Have had to take all of my jewellery and piercings out and I feel naked.

Thank you all for your tales and keeping me entertained

First time I spent the night at my wife's house, we were asleep and I felt something jump up onto the bed, the whole covers shifted. I looked up and saw a dog there - a brown spaniel. I told her that one of the dogs had gotten into the room but when she woke up nothing was there.

The next day I met her two dogs and neither of them were spaniels but their last family dog who passed away a year prior was. I still think little Penny was giving me her approval.
