I. currently in hospital with a rather embarrassing problem.

I woke this morning and felt a really sharp pain in my right thigh. Then it went numb. Then earlier I went to the toilet and realised I'd wet myself. I didn't even feel it. So 111 sent me to A and E. So now I'm waiting on the A and E doctor but it's still a 4 and a half hour wait to be seen

So while I'm waiting I'd love to read your tales of woo.

Recently I have been hearing my sons voice, clear as day, shout for me or ask questions while I'm in the house. I go find him and ask what he wants and he denies calling me. I didn't think much of it to be honest as there's always music/TV/Console blaring somewhere so I assumed I had just misheard. It then began happening when he's at school or out with friends. Always the same DC (We have 4 between us). I put it down to maybe a neighbour having a similar sounding voice. I didn't mention it to anyone until one day I saw DH asking the same DC what he wanted and DC saying he had not called him. We then chatted and DH said its been happening to him for weeks and he also hears it when DC is out. Cannot for the life of us figure out what/who it is. DC isn't much of a joker so I do not think it's him playing a prank. There is clearly a logical explanation but it it sounds exactly like DC, coming from his bedroom or a direction he is in (if he's home), using expressions and phrases he would use, in very clear sentences.

Ohh this is an evil spirit. Never shout back and reply to it but go to find your son to see if it was him calling you.

One of my friends had a ghost in her old house. I never saw him but she and her husband both saw him out of the corner or their eyes and called him Fred.

The dogs and cat also seemed to follow something invisible so they said they were calling Fred.

So one day my friend gets home from work and the door handle looked as if it had been played with.

The house was straight on to the street and next to a bus stop so sometimes people would lean on it so she didn't think much about it, her husband was still at work.

The next morning she was walking the dogs and a woman approached her and said, "Oh you got her back then" pointing at a dog.

My friend asks what she means.

The lady tells her that yesterday one of the dogs had got out so she had taken it to my friends house, the correct number and an elderly man had opened the door and taken the dog back in and thanked the lady.

Probably just a coincidence, but yesterday I was sitting outside a shopping centre having a drink and reading my book, waiting for DDs to rejoin me. Someone said a shortened, familiar version of my name, it sounded like my mum's voice, and I turned round- there were a group of women and I assume one had called to another though it had sounded like the voice was much closer. Then a few seconds later DDs turned up. My DM is still very much with us (and was safe and well at home) and DDs don't use my first name. Probably not a bit woo at all, but I thought it was funny that I was so engrossed in the book, someone called (I thought) to get my attention, it certainly got my attention, then DDs appeared.

What's woo is that none of the anti woo Mnetters have turned up yet to crap all over the thread! Grin

I might have a woo one. My aunt is currently in hospital. She is in Australia so I am not there but my parents are. When my mother was visiting yesterday my aunt was apparently chatting away and completely lucid and normal and was looking over the menu and choosing what she wanted to eat when she commented ' I am not sure why all these people are in the room though and why they are just standing looking at me'. My mother was the only person in the room.

So hopefully some guardian spirits looking after her. That's how my mother interprets it at least.

I hope you're well soon, OP!

I went to a castle when my two DS were tiny with exDH. They were scampering about as little boys do, I was looking up at the architecture and one of my DS started tugging at my jeans for attention. I asked if they were okay, looked down, no DS. They were across the courtyard with exDH. I mentioned it to one of the guides who said that was a common experience for mums with young sons.

Dover Castle, tour of the tunnels, eldest DS and I were at the back. He was about 5. He kept asking who the man was behind us wearing 'funny clothes'. No man there.

Same DS, abandoned village in France which was raided in WW2 and everyone killed. Its a memorial now. He asked me why all the children were killed 'in there' pointing at the school house. He was 3. All the signs were in French and he couldn't read anyway. We weren't discussing anything because of the sensitive nature and we were the only visitors so he wouldn't have overheard anything.

I could bore you with loads more! You'll like this one though - same DS (!), I was feeding him in his highchair and he was facing out of the kitchen towards the garden. He kept waving and saying 'man'. I kept looking behind me. No one there. He wouldn't eat because he was so excited about the 'man'. I was beginning to get very nervous and when he shouted 'man' again, I managed to turn around fast enough to see him - a man in my neighbour's garden at the end, trimming the hedge and kept popping up and down as he was on a ladder!

CaptainBeakyandhisband · 10/07/2022 08:40

@007DoubleOSeven i don’t think the carvings were original. I assume someone with very woo tendencies lived in the room before me at some point and carved them for a reason. I can’t quite remember how I got that room as it was one of the nicest in the house. It’s possible I insisted, it’s possible everyone else was wary of the runes and didn’t want it. But it had such a calming feeling in that room.

Hope you're ok OP. Came on to tell you my woo story last night , but fell asleep !

zingally · 10/07/2022 11:14

Not that long ago, I took a plastic bottle from my kitchen, and dropped it in the outdoor recycling bin when I was on my way out to the shops.
When I returned from the shops, the bottle was back on the kitchen side.

A glitch in the matrix I think!

Mine is actually from working in A&E!! I was pushing a patient in a wheelchair out of A&E towards the ward for admission. We were approaching some double glass doors and the reflection showed a young patient in a hospital gown holding a drip stand following us. As we got to the doors I stopped and opened them both onto the magnets. I turned to let the walking patient pass first..except she wasn’t there. I said to my patient in the wheelchair ‘im sure I saw a patient following us’ he replied ‘yes me too, in a gown with a drip stand’. The patient was not there and there was no corridor or door for her to turn into before that.

Namechangedforspooky · 10/07/2022 11:35

Sorry you’re having to wait. You may well need an MRI to exclude cauda equina (A&E staff here!)

I have loads of woo here. If I can persuade dd to nap I’ll come back.
what would you like? Medium stories, ghosts or just plain odd?
Hope you get seen soon!

My grandmother has visited me twice since she died.

First one was 10 days or so after her death. She had had a stroke and died a few days later, so she still held the Church community group petty cash and record book, which obviously the Church needed back pretty urgently. She used to hide it in her house. I was asked if I knew where as I used to help with the records when I was younger. I didn't. However that night I had a dream that told me exactly where to look.

The second time was after my second daughter was born. I fell asleep with her breastfeeding on the sofa. I dreamt that my grandmother was handing me my baby saying "this is yours" which startled me into waking up and retrieving her from where she had wriggled down.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/07/2022 12:02

I hope you’re OK, OP! Here are a few for you:

Db and SiL bought a very old, more or less derelict stone house in France. It had apparently been used to house English prisoners during the Napoleonic wars, and during renovations they found a sword buried in the stonework.

Before they got around to renovating the attic, my DM (always a hyper sensitive type) said that while in the room directly below the attic, she would often hear the sound of pacing above. As she put it, ‘like someone walking back and forth as if trying to get a baby to sleep.’

More like some poor pacing prisoner, we thought!

But she wasn’t at all bothered by it, she liked any evidence of ghosts and had always hoped that my DF would show that he was still around, somewhere.

Dd said that she saw both her first and 2nd babies, at the sort of age when they’d learned to wave - so maybe 8-10 months - smiling and waving at someone who wasn’t there. Both in the same place, where there was no e.g. reflection in a mirror to account for it.

One of the former owners, a 60-something mother of 3, had apparently died in the house not long before they bought it.
Dd was slightly spooked but not really bothered - the house had always had a lovely warm atmosphere - you could tell it had been a happy family home.

Similarly, shortly after we’d moved into the house, at just 3 my younger sister used to tell us of ‘a lady’ who sat on the end of her bed and smiled at her. She was not remotely bothered, just matter of fact.

We heard soon afterwards that one of the former owners, a relatively young woman, had died in childbirth, her first. 😥

I was asked to do a day's cover work in a small branch office located in a converted old building on a very pretty traditional high street.

I was sent upstairs, alone, to brew up in a really nice airy staff room.
As I went up the stairs I was suddenly all cold and my skin prickled with dread. Took me a real effort of will to get back down.
When I got back to HQ I was tearful and panicky and begged my boss not to send me there again her response:

"Oh no! Not another one! That building is supposedly haunted. It used to be a draper's shop with girls doing dressmaking upstairs in that nice front room. The story is that one of the girls heard the shop bell go, ran down, tripped and broke her neck on the stairs"

I wasn't the only person who wouldn't work there although plenty of people loved going to the quieter office for a change.
