I. currently in hospital with a rather embarrassing problem.

I woke this morning and felt a really sharp pain in my right thigh. Then it went numb. Then earlier I went to the toilet and realised I'd wet myself. I didn't even feel it. So 111 sent me to A and E. So now I'm waiting on the A and E doctor but it's still a 4 and a half hour wait to be seen

So while I'm waiting I'd love to read your tales of woo.

My gran was an identical twin and her & her sister had lots of woo stories.

When my gran fell pregnant for the first time her twin told her she was before she’d tested, or mentioned it to anyone at all.

When my gran was quite elderly she had a stroke and had been in hospital for some time. One night her twin woke in the middle of the night in a panic, made her husband driver her to the hospital.

When they arrived my gran had passed away at the time she woke up, the staff hadn’t called anyone yet.

In the 60s my MIL was a locum and lived in a house in a small village that the GP rented out to his locums. She used to hear someone walk up the stairs and open the bedroom door.

A few years later at a party she met a very down to earth Australian woman who, it turned out, had been a locum in the same village and had rented the same house. Without prompting the Australian said, “did you hear the ghost that used to open the bedroom door?”

Ive had an MRI
Still no closer to figuring out what's what
I'm guessing it's not Cauda Equina as I've not been rushed anywhere.

Have they told you it's normal ?
Hope so and you find out soon , it's worrying waiting .
@StealingYourWiFi I've heard stories like that from the old hospital I worked in, we need a whole thread for woo hospital stories ! I used to work on a very very old ward with a wandering elderly couple ...

My own is fairly tame but I'll tell it anyway . When I was very young , I was out with my DM and saw a person standing across the fields , I started to to yell grandad grandad at them . My DM was a bit woo , and she told me later it was my dead auntie . When my DM died, I also had a couple of visitations from her ..would have liked more !

Sorry you’re having to wait. You may well need an MRI to exclude cauda equina (A&E staff here!)

I have loads of woo here. If I can persuade dd to nap I’ll come back.
what would you like? Medium stories, ghosts or just plain odd?
Hope you get seen soon!

Please share your stories, all of them. I'm really interested to hear! 😊

I went to stay at a quaint country house hotel in Sussex. I was on a weekend break with friends who were a married couple. After dinner we went back to our rooms, and I watched some tv in bed. When I switched off the tv, I put the remote on the bedside cabinet, switched off the light and went to sleep.

In the morning I thought I'd watch some breakfast tv news as it was still too early to go down for breakfast. No remote. No problem, I thought, it's fallen off the cabinet. I looked all round the cabinet, pulled it away from the wall, went through the two drawers, nothing. Then I pulled all the bedding off in case it had fallen into the bed. Nothing. Went down to breakfast and told my friends.

They came back to the room with me and we searched further, including pulling the bed away from the wall, looking under it, even looking elsewhere in the room, in my hand bag, you get it, we were pretty thorough.

When we were checking out I thought I'd better mention it, in case the owner thought I'd nicked it. I explained it to him and he just shrugged and said: "Number 7 - he's at it again. Don't worry about it, he'll put it back somewhere where I'd least expect it." Turned out Room 7 had a bit of a history of weird goings on, and he owner was resigned to it.

Theyve still no idea whats wrong.

They're just arguing over which neurosurgeon is best for me to be referred to.

My mums fine with the kids, she's going to get them all sorted. She's even cleaning out the pet mouse, Julius Cheezer for me and she hates mice.

DS was ventilated in PICU. We were moved to a room because he developed diarrhea. As we stood in the room I looked over him in hid bed and I saw out of the corner of my eye a small boy in a stripey long-sleeved top and brown cords. He was about 5 and had mousey brown hair. Look properly and he was gone!
The nurse knew exactly who I was talking about and she had actually worked on him years previously !!!

Hope you find out soon and the stories keep coming in to distract you. Keep strong …. My little bit of woo for you is that out Siri HomePod turned itself on in the middle of the night on 2 or 3 occasions this last winter . One night my DS came down about 4 in the morning as she’d been woken up by loud orchestral music . Somehow I’d slept through it. I’m was Strauss, theme from A Space Odyssey.

Went to view a house at the weekend. Very old converted dairy. (Actually going to offer on it when they open on Monday!)
however, can anyone else see a man in this photo?

ZarquonsSandals · 10/07/2022 16:45

Yesterday.
I was going out in the early evening and wanted to take a particular small bag with me.
DC had borrowed it about a fortnight earlier and had no idea what they'd done with it. DC and DH are away at the moment so I took the opportunity to search bedrooms thoroughly and the usual 'dump stuff' points but to no avail.
I ended up standing in the lounge and asking out loud to please find it as I really wanted to take just this small bag (I have a shoulder injury at the moment so comfort was essential). I described it and tried to picture it in my mind.
Spent another half hour searching around and decided it was never going to turn up, so started to decant what I needed into the next smallest bag I could find.
Got a sudden urge to re-search on of the usual spots for stuff being left around and it was right there, beside the area I'd been looking in. There was no way to have not seen it before - it's bright yellow.

HerRoyalHappiness · 10/07/2022 16:48

I'm coming home.

I slipped a disc in my back which is pressing on some nerves causing the numbness.

I have to have a catheter still and my mums going to stay and help me clean etc while I have it, but I'm going home!

And I still want woo stories!

I’ve never actually told anyone this in real life as I’ve no way of explaining it that doesn’t make me sound like I completely lost the plot. I experienced what I can only describe as some sort of time slip a couple of years ago.

I left the house with baby ds2 in his pram to collect ds1 from preschool. The first thing I noticed a couple of minutes into the walk was that it was unusually hot, like a bright summer day. It was February and had been very cold and rainy in the morning so I was surprised by the weather being so warm.

A few minutes later I passed the local doctors surgery and saw they had a new sign above the door which I thought was strange as the ‘new’ sign looked quite old fashioned and shabby and I wondered why they would have replaced the sign with an old one but didn’t give it much thought and carried on.

I was nearly at the preschool and planned to pop into the Co-op on the way to get some bread but when I got there it wasn’t a co-op it was a pub. I was so confused, it had definitely still been a shop when I’d passed it that morning and was thinking what the hell, how has it been turned into a pub in one afternoon. I looked in the window and it was a proper pub, people in it, people sat at the tables outside drinking. There was a sign outside saying you could watch the 2004 World Cup final inside. I was just so confused I carried on walking to get to the preschool.

When I got closer I started to panic because instead of seeing the preschool building there was nothing there, just a grass field behind a little fence in the grounds of the primary school, it had literally vanished. I ran closer and was properly freaking out. I thought about the sign I’d seen outside the pub and realised the preschool hadn’t been built until 2011. I was hyperventilating thinking my son is in that preschool how can I get him back if I’m in 2004, he’s not even been born yet. Am I stuck in 2004 with my baby without my son or husband.

I sat down on the floor against the wall of the school thinking what on earth can I do when I saw someone walk past texting on a smart phone, so thought I can’t actually be in 2004 can I. I stood up and looked and the preschool had reappeared. I went in and got my son and went home.

Nothing like it has happened since. It sounds mad. I’m not remotely woo and I did wonder if I’d had some sort of psychotic episode. I’d been struggling with postnatal depression after the birth of my baby (which is what made me not want to tell anyone about this!) but never lost touch with reality and wasn’t on any medication. I am stumped as to what happened really. I’m just immensely glad it was over quickly and hasn’t happened again. I’ve never felt panic like when I thought I couldn’t get my son back 😱 I looked into it and that coop had indeed used to be a pub which I wasn’t until then aware of as it had been closed long before I moved to the area which makes me inclined to think I didn’t imagine it.

Hope you are ok in hospital op.

ShahRukhKhan · 10/07/2022 17:13

We moved to a house where there was a real odd feeling of being watched. Hand-prints would appear on the feature wall, like kids had pressed sticky hands on there. There was a narrow corridor running from the bedroom to the bathroom and it often felt like someone was directly behind you as you walked down it at night. Once I came upstairs and a pile of change had been stacked up on top of the drawers. The dog kept getting locked in the under-stairs cupboard some how, and sometimes my husband would wake up saying the cat smelled so bad it woke him. But the cat wasnt there.

One night he had a night terror (total one off). I woke to find him kind of screaming but like he was part paralysed etc. It was scary. He said he woke up and saw a demon thing standing looking out the window. It saw he was looking and said it was going to come after him. He said 'don't even try it; and it replied 'fine, then I'll go after her' and pointed at me.

Shortly after I had what I now call a breakdown, where I felt I was being possessed. It was the worst experience of my life, I felt like my soul was in Hell. Eventually sorted by antidepressants and lots of positive visualisation of protective light etc.

I'll never know what happened to make me feel like that. My husband didn't tell me the part about what the demon said, until years after I'd recovered. I still sleep with a light on.

A friend of mine died in 1988. He was in Bilbao and the news took days to reach me except that the night he died, i could SMELl him. I was in bed and i could hear breathing. I felt rational like "i must be mistaken, that must be me breath" so i held my breath and still heard bresthing and still smelled him. I knew it wasnt a dream but i said to my mum "i dreamt that *George died.

About 3 days later a woman called to the door to tell us his family had died in a car crash.

TreePoser · 10/07/2022 17:25

I think there is a presence that can be felt when people die. A shift in the energy. Because a year earlier, the same happened to me when my aunt died. She had been sick for a while.

i went to a play with school, we had to see king lear. All through the play i felt my aunt's presence. Felt her "enjoying" the play and willing me to get more out of it.

I knew when i got home that my parents would tell me she had gone.

@MarisaMaryEllen I am very intrigued by the ideas of time slips. Also parallel universes. I sometimes wonder if ghost experiences are in fact experiences of parallel universes.

pogostickplastique · 10/07/2022 17:41

@Sunshineboo @NHSWoo people are still here! (Or are you?!) hahah
Okay I'll start at the beginning I suppose, first experience I was 2 years old. That day us actually my first memories. My mother and I lived house, she'd done a council exchange and typically (for the time) when we got to the house there were hardly any lightbulbs and no hot water.

After moving everything in my mum asked me to go upstairs and get dressed while she boiled me some water for a bath. I remember (as does my mother) going up the stairs on all fours (typical toddler) turning to go round the corner onto the landing and looking up and stopping dead and shouting 'mammy, who are these men?'

My mum stood at the bottom of the stairs looks up and shouts 'what men? Not any men living here' and I turn to look at her and point to the landing and say 'there... 3 men' and I look back to the landing and they've vanished. . One shorter rotund man and 2 thinner ones. All dressed in what I described as 'big but small trousers'. Which when I later went to middle school I recognised as Tudor attire. Never saw them again. Wasn't a Tudor house either but a post World War One terrace
