I have just seen this article where Heather Mills claims that we should go the toilet after every meal that we have and not just once a day. Was just a bit in interesting to think about really. The article is linked below.

I can’t be bothered to read the article by a person who isnt medically trained to offer their insight on such a topic. all I can say is that if your body doesn’t need a wee/poo directly after eating then you’d be wasting time ‘trying’ to go and just sitting and waiting.

Yuk.

She's not a physiology expert. She could be the old guy hanging around the bus stop with those opinions. They are just opinions.

I wonder how big is a "meal" that she thinks should prompt bowl evacuation.

One crisp? A slice of apple? a cup of coffee?

LoudingVoice · 02/07/2022 22:13

Surely grown adults just go to the toilet just when they need to?

StopStartStop · 02/07/2022 22:15

Not reading it, but it sounds like the kind of advice an anorexic might give you. My mother had bouts of anorexia.

FatOaf · 02/07/2022 22:15

Why do you expect people to have any interest in what Heather Mills says about anything? Wasn't there any news in the paper? There's quite a bit going on.

Justmuddlingalong · 02/07/2022 22:16

Who the fuck has the inclination or time for that?

maravais · 02/07/2022 22:19

It takes 2 to 6 hours for your stomach to empty. This is the purpose of fasting before surgery.

ivykaty44 · 02/07/2022 22:20

if you look up about. whats normal amounts of poo a day - western cultures are between 3 times a day and once every 3 days

if you go other parts of the world then they poo much more often and produce twice the poo we do 😂as they eat far more fibre

JLwac · 02/07/2022 22:21

Why do you care what Heather Mills says about anything?

This is what I was going to say.

listening to your body and going to the toilet when you need to is clearly the best thing to do.

All that food sitting there is fermenting and poisoning our system.”

Is it? Or are we just digesting it? I don't think she knows how the digestive system works. I can't believe I actually read the article though. Grin

nocoolnamesleft · 02/07/2022 22:23

Normal range is 3 times a day to once every 3 days. There is the gastrocolic reflex, which means that you are more likely to open your bowels about 30 minutes after a meal, but it's not a given.

we don't shit out food we've eaten though? its dead cells surely?

Imissmoominmama · 02/07/2022 22:25

I poo about 6 times a day!

BotterMon · 02/07/2022 22:25

Ah yes Heather Mills - that renowned gastroenterologist.

ivykaty44 · 02/07/2022 22:27

Water makes up about 75 percent of your stool. The rest is an often-stinky combination of fiber, dead and live bacteria, other cells, and mucus. Soluble fiber found in foods like beans and nuts is broken down during digestion and forms a gel-like substance that becomes part of your poop.

this was what I got when I looked it up

Antarcticant · 02/07/2022 22:27

I don't see how people can poo to order like that. Either you need to go or you don't.

Sparklingbrook · 02/07/2022 22:32

She must be fun to go out for dinner with, or to invite to your dinner party. 'Where's Heather?' On the loo again.

WeAreTheHeroes · 02/07/2022 22:35

Sounds as though she has no idea what the liver and kidneys do so I wouldn't pay her ramblings any attention.

Sparklingbrook · 02/07/2022 22:38

TBF the article is 4 years old so maybe she's come to her senses now.

Ah yes Heather Mills - that renowned gastroenterologist.

Yes indeed

her specialist knowledge is evident. Maybe she’s pals with the Gillian McKeith that other expert in gastrointestinal health and faecal matter

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 02/07/2022 22:48

Stupid advice. Hmm You can only go when you NEED to. Is she saying you should force yourself?

antelopevalley · 02/07/2022 22:48

I agree this sounds like anorexia tips.

Sunshine10012 · 02/07/2022 22:49

The only time I’ve ever pooped to that extent is when my stomach is off and I’ve consumed too much crap!
