Weekend away planned fri-sun. Special event.
Short flight.
Covid positive since Sunday. Symptoms started Saturday.
Over the worst of the symptoms (not coughing or sneezing)
Likely still testing positive on day of travel but it will be 5 full days since symptoms started.
No test required for destination.
WWYD?

I would go

JanglyBeads · 23/06/2022 23:38

Test using LFT

Timwith2noses · 23/06/2022 23:38

I would claim on my insurance and stay at home.

catfunk · 23/06/2022 23:43

@JanglyBeads assuming still positive using LFT

Depends whether you prioritise yourself or others.

UmbilicusProfundus · 23/06/2022 23:53

I would go. Anyone going on a flight knows they are taking some level of risk. And you will have aleday completed the 5 days suggested (but not even mandatory) isolation

Mariposista · 23/06/2022 23:55

Go

if I was still testing positive, no I wouldn't go.

ScottishStar · 23/06/2022 23:55

I would go 100%.

Forestdweller11 · 23/06/2022 23:58

No temperature, cough or sneeze, I'd go, use a proper mask on flight

NewYorkLassie · 23/06/2022 23:59

I wouldn’t have tested in the first place so I’d definitely be going.

Thanks for the replies everyone - appreciate your thoughts

I would go.
covid is everywhere and anyone that’s bothered about to still, has had their 50000000th booster by now anyway.

Threetulips · 24/06/2022 07:36

Why haven’t you got insurance? It’s pennies compared to the holiday cost.

ShirleyPhallus · 24/06/2022 07:38

I’d go

BUT it’s very silly to travel without travel insurance so also get that for next time!

Actually, those in vaccination group 6 (not extremely vulnerable but "at-risk" so vaccinated ahead of other 16-65 year olds) will have had their last booster in about October.

Perfectlystill · 24/06/2022 07:47

I would not go. The worst bit of covid is the post viral exhaustion and that'll be worse if you rush about now.

I also tested positive on Sunday and wouldn't go, no way.

Grumpybutfunny · 24/06/2022 07:47

I would go even if it was day one, we are looking at around 1:50 positive say 195 people on board (737) that's a minimum of 4 positive anyway.

ClocksGoingBackwards · 24/06/2022 07:47

I would go. I didn’t have three injections I didn’t really want just to cancel holidays at the end of a mild illness.

Timeforabiscuit · 24/06/2022 07:48

No requirement to test, can be infectious for up to 10 days, but isolate for the first 5 days, so I'd go, but wear a mask on transport and be scrupulous with hand hygiene.

Cancel if you have a temperature or feel unwell.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 24/06/2022 07:48

Personally, if I was (were?) still testing positive, I wouldn’t go. And I’m generally someone who has been relatively relaxed about covid.

If I tested negative this morning though, I’d be throwing myself into a cab to the airport!

Only if they all ignore it. Many people with COVID feel unwell, so they tend to stay home for starters. Your stats are oversimplistic.

SellFridges · 24/06/2022 07:50

I had covid a couple of weeks ago and the insurance I had for an event was in line with government guidelines. Therefore I went, because it’s not my place to add additional rules.

ClearestBlue · 24/06/2022 07:51

What’s the ‘special event’?

I don’t think I would go if I was still testing positive. Covid was nasty when I had it a few months back & knowingly being sat on a plane with it would make me feel terrible.
