Weekend away planned fri-sun. Special event.
Short flight.
Covid positive since Sunday. Symptoms started Saturday.
Over the worst of the symptoms (not coughing or sneezing)
Likely still testing positive on day of travel but it will be 5 full days since symptoms started.
No test required for destination.
WWYD?

If it's been 5 days I'd go.

Topgub · 24/06/2022 21:38

@1dayatatime

Yup.

“I would go, I can’t believe people are buying tests.”

on the other hand, some care about other people.

@1dayatatime

Yup.

I don't disagree with you but this is too depressing to comprehend.

Yes I’m sure you are quoting VTam
but flu is not a few days then on with your life,
that is why we have had a comprehensive flu jab programme for a long time !!!

you are confusing colds and flu and therefore minimising what VTam
is actually saying to fit with your narrative !

He did say flu/a few days

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-61923316

And I have to say, what I've just had was most definitely not mild cold, I effectively lost two days, was in a lot of pain and barely able to look after myself, the worst of it did only last 2 days, not 2 weeks like flu does.

Doris86 · 24/06/2022 23:01

@ForBestResults @Schmz

Glad I wasn’t making that up. So it was Van Tam confusing colds with flu then, rather than me. What does he know eh? 😉

Liesovertheocean · 24/06/2022 23:33

I’ve had flu. At least 3 times in my life. Over it in two weeks. Covid left me with heart & breathing trouble for 6 months. 9 months on I’ve regained my fitness but my smell and taste are still off. So would I travel with Covid? Probably not.

SmartCarDriver · 25/06/2022 09:02

Even if OP had insurance, I very much doubt voluntarily chosing not to travel in the absence of any legal restriction on travel would be something that could be claimed on travel insurance

Exactly!

As has repeatedly been said, it can be.

ApplesandBunions · 25/06/2022 09:12

I had insurance for an earlier trip this year that would refund all costs if a member of the household had tested positive within a certain number of days of departure, forget exactly how many. It was purchased when the pandemic was raging and we were still in lockdown, so I really wanted a comprehensive policy. So it has existed anyway, I don't know if it still does but it was previously a thing (admittedly I didn't have to try and claim on it...)

That being said, insurance only covers the financial costs. It doesn't mean the claimant is necessarily going to be able to go on holiday again: could be things like annual leave, getting cover for any caring responsibilities, school terms etc. This does inevitably mean that even people with insurance may still choose to travel rather than claim on it.

GylesBrandrethNewJumper · 24/06/2022 09:22

Yes it does.

WHAT?!! Insurance that pays out because a bunch of Mumsnetters say ‘don’t travel’?! 🤣

Don't try and interrupt an angry self righteous batshit covid wank with logic.

Daily Mail doesn’t give a shit about covid and OP’s decent morality would not fit with its ‘covid is over’ agenda
