Lots of debate in my home. I’m not really bothered the house in number 13 but older relatives including both sets of parents really against us putting an offer in for a home that’s numbered 13!

what would you do? Not to drip feed but my culture and DH Culture (different culture from mine) are very superstitious

It wouldn’t even cross my mind to avoid a number 13. Just tell your relatives that you’re not superstitious. I bet they can’t even give a reason as to why they think 13 is bad luck. At least some superstitions make sense - like
don't walk under a ladder because something could fall on you. Avoiding a number is just nonsense.

I would.
Daft superstition.

Where there's no 13, 14 is the 13. Like a hotel with 'no' thirteenth floor.

There is.
It's called 14.

It's still the 13th.

So if there's bad luck associated with something being the 13 of something then the fake 14 would become unlucky. Then you can't have 14 because 14 is 13 and 13 is unlucky so 14 becomes 15 but...

So it can't be something being the physical 13th of something because not calling it the 13th doesn't change the fact it is the 13th.

Which means drawing a vertical line next to boobs on their side summons the devil or some such shit.

The whole thing is nuts

I know a couple who moved into a house numbered 13. Someone had lived in it before but it was a new build so maybe a year old at most. They changed it to 12A.

Not sure what the occupant of No 12 thought about it. The neighbour on the other side who they were attached to was No 14.

Not on Fridays!!

ViscountessBridgerton · 22/06/2022 11:35

Ha. Yes I would! But we got married on the 13th which a few people were shocked about.

We live at 13...only the Victorian builders originally obviously planned to make our street longer, the first house is number 9, so really we are house 5. Does that make us not really unlucky as we aren't really #13? Either way, it's a very happy home with a lovely atmosphere.

Just spoke to my mum and she keeps saying it will always be on their mind that we live in 13!

Say 'oh that's good, at least you won't forget where we live' then ignore it!!

I would, and have done in the past. Just superstitious nonsense.
