Would you live in a house number 13?

Lots of debate in my home. I’m not really bothered the house in number 13 but older relatives including both sets of parents really against us putting an offer in for a home that’s numbered 13!

what would you do? Not to drip feed but my culture and DH Culture (different culture from mine) are very superstitious

Yes

PurpleButterflyWings · 21/06/2022 21:51

100% yes.

IsDaveThere · 21/06/2022 21:51

Yes of course I would.

NewMe5452 · 21/06/2022 21:51

Also how easy is it to change the house number? Can’t find much info on online other than contact local council

MarthanotMarfa · 21/06/2022 21:52

Most new build estates don’t have a 13 now as it’s hard to sell!

NewMe5452 · 21/06/2022 21:52

Thanks for responses. How can I not dismiss DH and older relatives opinions?

Tell them to stop being ridiculous

Tell them it's not their house or their money

RaspberryChouxBuns · 21/06/2022 21:54

Just rename it to "Lucky Lodge"

RitaFires · 21/06/2022 21:54

I would, you might be able to get a better deal because of other people's superstitions.

Is this easy to do? Must cost lots

I changed the name of my house op, it was free.

Ivecomeoutoflurking · 21/06/2022 21:55

I would because I do!!! However, 13 is my lucky number so it wasn't an issue for me!! I found it more strange that I'd found a street that actually had a number 13 😂

XelaM · 21/06/2022 21:55

Yes!!! Have lived in several houses/flats no.13 since birth. It's my lucky number :)

mellicauli · 21/06/2022 21:56

Yes I did. It was fine. You can give a house a name instead to keep them happy (eg The Laurels or whatever). There's a bit of associated paperwork.

Thanks Cheshire. Is it difficult getting post or deliveries?

I'm not superstitious enough to care about the number of my house. My road doesn't have a number 13 though so whoever was building and numbering them in the 60s decided people probably wouldn't want to live in a number 13.

SaintJavelin · 21/06/2022 21:58

I live at a number 13, doesn't bother me.

ShowOfHands · 21/06/2022 21:58

I would. It's meaningless. In fact, I deliberately sat in seat 13 for all of my exams for my degree as people were so funny about it.

OytheBumbler · 21/06/2022 21:59

I'd agree with a pp and tell your family to stop being so ridiculous and then think no more about it.

Crimeismymiddlename · 21/06/2022 21:59

I live in number 13. It never bothered me, it’s my home.

Clevs · 21/06/2022 22:00

There's no number 13 in my street, the houses were built in 1981.

Starlightstarbright1 · 21/06/2022 22:03

It wouldn't bother me but would consider resale.. lots of people wouldn't.

MsOllie · 21/06/2022 22:04

I live in a number 13 at the minute
Surprised actually as it was built in 2006 ish and they usually skip number 13

Basilbrushgotfat · 21/06/2022 22:06

Definitely. Might think twice about moving into No. 9 though...
