Would you live in a house number 13?

Lots of debate in my home. I’m not really bothered the house in number 13 but older relatives including both sets of parents really against us putting an offer in for a home that’s numbered 13!

what would you do? Not to drip feed but my culture and DH Culture (different culture from mine) are very superstitious

I had to find a number 69 house once for work, I went back and forth many times until I rang the residents, they explained where it was, it was between 12 and 14 😆

I live in a number 13 and love how the negative superstitions are so wrong! Been here 14 years and love it 😁

Different countries have different superstitions. In japan the numbers 4 and 9 are bad luck. Show your relatives the different superstitions from other parts of the world.

Live in definitely. If I was looking at two otherwise equal properties I might not buy just because of resale. If it met all my needs I’d buy.

Tbf I like to think I'm not superstitious in any way, I'll walk under ladders or pass people on stairs to my hearts content.

But I always salute a lone magpie - that just seems good manners!

I have lived in a number 13. No issues.

We also sold before we put it on the market as there was so much interest and there were buyers who were equally not superstitious.

I grew up in a Victorian house - the 13th in the row - but it was numbered 12a. We didn't change it it already was 12a. I'm assuming it was because of superstition but I wouldn't have a problem buying a number 13 house.

My neighbour lives at no.13 and refuses to have it on her door. She got a local blacksmith to make her "12 + 1 =?" to go on the front door.

My last house was number 13. My current house is the 13th one but they've skipped the number so it's 14. I'm thinking of changing it.

I grew up in a no.13 house. It was a beautiful house, never any feelings of bad luck etc.. It never even occurred to me that it would be an issue for some.

I look be at 13 and have for 20 years. It's never crossed my mind, ever!

How on Earth can a number put someone off a house?

I consider it a lucky number. DD was born on the 13th and so was my black cat. 😁
