Gardener moved in!

Mom757855 · 10/06/2022 05:59

About a month ago our gardener turned up on our doorstep with all his stuff in bin bags. His partner had thrown him out. He had no where to go, so we let him stay with us. We are not friends and have a professional relationship but we have enough room for him and he would have slept in his car otherwise. He says he will start to look for a rental this week but he’s been understandably quite low and hasn’t started yet but I trust he will.
The problem is he likes to go to the gym at 5.15 am and it wakes us all up. Is it unreasonable to ask him to go at a later time? We have two small kids and my husband has a very demanding job.
thanks

Is this the plot of a dodgy horror film ?

AnyFucker · 10/06/2022 07:03

Or a Carry on Gardening” type scenario ? 😀

Given how long daylight is at this time of year, reasonable to ask him to get up later, as he can fulfil his work into the evening if needs be.

Thats good an all asking him to get up later but its also making him feel like it's hus home, what will the op do when she goes on holiday will she bring him with her

dudsville · 10/06/2022 07:05

Welcome to today's story on Bizarre Things! On today's show we have a kind family who took in someone off the street, her only complaint is the time he goes to the gym. Is she being unreasonable? You decide!

FabFitFifties · 10/06/2022 07:08

Do you live in a massive house with huge gardens,, and have a full time gardener? It would seem less weird than your Gardner who mows the lawn for 30 mins every week. YANBU, and you sound lovely.

ElenaSt · 10/06/2022 07:08

I can't understand the reluctance to tell someone in YOUR own home that you have kindly rescued from being homeless that their getting up early is disturbing the household!

Next time you see him, 'When you get up early it disturbs us all. You'll have go to the gym at a later time whilst you're staying here.'

FlibbertyGibbitt · 10/06/2022 07:09

Can we have a photo of his bod so we can advise you please?

maras2 · 10/06/2022 07:10

Is his name Mellors

For now dudsville for now

When he is still there is six months time I think a lot more will be pissing OP off

LissyBooks · 10/06/2022 07:13

2/10

I yearn for the days people tried. Remember “my husband keeps making pirate noises during sex” - what happened to the good old days

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/06/2022 07:13

Is he very handsome and offering additional benefits?
Is your name Constance?

Beat me to it Grin
I'm hoping OP's pulling our legs, but otherwise the answer's quite simple ... get him out

Hollywolly1 · 10/06/2022 07:21

I think a lot of people on here will never answer there doors again😂,when you get him out be sure to let us know so we could be expecting him😆😂😅seriously this has me in absolute stitches

I'm getting Pacific Heights vibes although that's more thriller than horror Grin

pushingpoppies · 10/06/2022 07:23

At least you'll have some tidy bushes

Octomore · 10/06/2022 07:29

Most people would approach their friends and family for assistance/ a sofa to sleep on if they had nowhere to stay.

None of this sounds very realistic!

VestaTilley · 10/06/2022 07:30

I think you’ve been generous enough- give him a fortnight’s deadline and then tell him he needs to have found somewhere else to live. And waking you all up at 5am is not ok!

newnamethanks · 10/06/2022 07:35

Regardless of looks, a good gardener is a find. Better keep him in case you can't find another.

RosesAndHellebores · 10/06/2022 07:36

Can't you move him to an outbuilding?

Yes

Also make sure he is looking for rentals and not just saying he is.

snigger

Fidodidit · 10/06/2022 07:41

Pacific Heights - that’s it! Was bugging me I couldn’t remember- the one with the cockroaches I think?

Why does he go to the gym every daub when he already has such a physical job?

Sidge · 10/06/2022 07:42

He needs to leaf.

You need to cut him off before he puts down roots in your home.

Tell him today he needs to dig deep and find another place to stay as his early mornings are not helping you to blossom.

seaUrchinOne · 10/06/2022 07:44

He's been there a month, surely it shouldn't take that long to secure somewhere, even a room to rent, I think he's taking the piss, carrying on with the gym when he has other priorities. I'd be asking everyday.

diddl · 10/06/2022 07:45

It's quite sad that he had nowhere else to go.

Or maybe he did but they'd all already said no as they knew he'd be up early/stay too long?

Got it in one.

He needs to go yesterday.
