To be annoyed that DH eats his food as if he’s in a TV advert.

An El Paso advert.

All exaggerated movements. Eyebrows raised and eyes rolled. Fork pulled from mouth with a smack and with gusto.

I know he’s trying to show his appreciation.

But we’re not on TV.

That would drive me insane. Have you mentioned it to him? Has he always done it?

AllPlayedOut · 05/06/2022 21:40

How have you resisted skewering his jugular with a fork?

Hyvsvaar · 05/06/2022 21:42

Uggh

tell the dingbat to pack it in…not everything is an amuse bouchée

Shrimpseyelashes · 05/06/2022 21:47

Dear god. That would be a deal breaker for me I’m afraid.

My dh always add salt and pepper like he’s a TV chef- with a flourish and from a height. I thought that was bad enough.

lightisnotwhite · 05/06/2022 21:49

Oh gods mine does exactly this.
Also of lots head nodding at how delicious it is too (especially when he’s cooked)
I have pointed out that this makes him look like a knob and he’ll stop. Until the next meal.

Thepossibility · 05/06/2022 22:09

Of course you need to respond with far more over the top noises and gestures. "Mmmmm, yummy...in my tummy tummy" rub stomach in huge exaggerated circles.

Onwards22 · 05/06/2022 22:10

I’d much rather this then someone scoffing away and not appreciating it!

Easilystartled · 05/06/2022 22:11

Obviously you need to divorce him.

ilkleymoorbartat · 05/06/2022 22:12

My mother in law does this, alongside appreciative "mmmmmmm" noises. Throughout the whole meal.

Sumtimesiamgreen · 05/06/2022 22:12

Lol 😂. Record him and play it back to him . That’ll prob be the end of the it.

This was my first thought too!

AbsoluteShambles · 05/06/2022 22:25

😂😂😂

LTB. No question.

achara · 05/06/2022 22:30

Yes DP is a performance eater as well drives me nuts.🙄👀😳😂😂

InPraiseOfBacchus · 05/06/2022 22:34

Oh eww. This would be a relationship deal breaker for me, and I'm not exaggerating or being funny. I really find it intolerable.

My ex MIL couldn't eat without moaning "mmmmm" into her first bite of food. Every time. There's something very gross about someone needing to communicate non-verbally that they're having a pleasurable sensory experience that I find, I don't know, overly intimate, I think? It makes me want to run.

Tothepoint99 · 05/06/2022 23:13

Does he also scrape his teeth the length of the fork when eating. This drives me INSANE!! 🤣

12weekstoloseweight · 05/06/2022 23:18

Mine is one of the ones that tried to look ‘cheffy’ when he chops an onion or sprinkles some salt. Sounds like between them they could have quite the cookery show going on!

tiktokontheclock · 05/06/2022 23:22

That would massively annoy me - I don't think I would be able to eat with him.

Once DH and I were in a chain cafe for breakfast. It serves v basic food - omelettes and sweet potato chips, etc. woman was there with her other half practically orgasming over the food, I kid you not. The tables are close together, so we were sitting right next to her while she smacked her lips and kept telling her OH how amazing it was. She even texted a friend at one point to tell her. "Yep yep I told her, fego is the name, amazing!". I will never forget her. And not in a good way.

MindYourHeadDoggy · 05/06/2022 23:25

Make him eat in front of a mirror so he can see how much of a stupid cuntox he looks.

PinkScrunchie · 05/06/2022 23:27

Tell him he’s not on Gogglebox and to behave while eating. If he can’t do that I’d eat on my own. FFS this is worse than performance parenting, it’s performance eating 🙄😂

I didn’t see this comment before I posted but it’s definitely performance eating.

CandyLeBonBon · 05/06/2022 23:32

Nuke him from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

TheresaLeafy · 05/06/2022 23:34

Well, I thought I was BU there but clearly not. He also tries to catch my eye before he embarks on a manoeuvre. I can’t tell him he’s being a twunt as he would be offended and get defensive. And then everything would be my fault. Obviously.

Yes mine does that. Uses all the saucepans, a jug, a mixing bowl, the griddle and 5 little bowls (one to hold each ingredient in the style of a tv chef) to make something simple like pesto pasta.
