Why are duvets so thin?

Im trying to find a new duvet and they are all so thin. Even the ones that claim to be super full or bouncy.

am I missing something here? Do any of you mumsnetters have any tips or recommendations of where I can buy a full duvet from?

hotel duvets always seem to be full and bouncy, I wonder where they buy their duvets from?

This is interesting, because as a member of the EU that is not permitted. I understood that only cheap (Chinese etc), down was still produced in this way.
