To ask what time your DCs go to bed and their age?

Been living in a temporary house for a few weeks now - we’re here until our new house is ready. Have always lived in semi-detached where none of our main living space has adjoining walls with next door (lounge/bedrooms etc).
In this current house our lounge has an adjoining wall with the neighbour, as does our bedroom so for the first time I’m very aware of the noise from next door.

Really lovely family around the same age as DH and I. They have 2 children - ages 7y and 15m. Both of their children seem to go to bed around 10.30/11pm each night! It struck me as being pretty late but whatever works for their family I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ Tonight I can hear the kids singing and laughing and it sounds like they’re watching a kids TV show of some kind 🤷🏻‍♀️ One with lots of songs lol

We just have 1 DS at 1.5years and he’s usually asleep by 7/7.30pm on a good night. Usually 8ish on a bad night.

Just curious really - what age are your DC and what time is “bedtime” in your house? 😊

My 7yo goes around 8.30pm and 10yo at 9pm. The teens go when they like.

Hellocatshome · 17/05/2022 22:16

CandyCaneLane0 · 17/05/2022 22:17

My 6yo goes to bed at 8pm

nirvanauk · 17/05/2022 22:17

3 year old and 1 year old, we aim for bedtime 7-7.30pm. On weekends they are very occasionally up until 8pm if we've been busy

44PumpLane · 17/05/2022 22:18

5.5 year old twins about 7.30

When they were a little younger they went to be for 7

BigYellowElephant · 17/05/2022 22:18

1 and 3 year olds 7/7.30
13 year old supposed to be lights out at 10.30/11 at the latest but I regularly hear her crashing around in the early hours raiding the cupboards

lioncitygirl · 17/05/2022 22:18

8 and 5 years - bed by 7pm.

Haudyourwheesht · 17/05/2022 22:19

underneaththeash · 17/05/2022 22:19

My 11yo goes up at 8.30 and asleep by 9, 13yo up at 9 and asleep by 9.30. They both need to be up 6.30/6.45.
16yo usually gets poked to go up at 10.30.
it’s later at the weekend.

Fridafever · 17/05/2022 22:20

7 year old about 7.30

He’s very tired by then!

MissChanandlerBong80 · 17/05/2022 22:20

Nearly 3 year old, 8pm (well into bed around 7.45, asleep by 8).

I really wish he had a 7/7.30pm bedtime tbh but 8 seems to be when he’s ready for sleep.

noblegreenk · 17/05/2022 22:20

Nearly 4yo goes to bed 7.30pm. Can be any time up to 8.30pm on a bad night of she's playing up.

CoodleMoodle · 17/05/2022 22:21

3yo is in bed for about 7:20pm and we leave the room at 7:30pm after two stories in bed. He usually falls asleep fairly quickly. We do PJs downstairs and then upstairs for teeth and story.

8yo is in bed by 8ish and can read until 8:30pm. She reads downstairs with one of us and then on her own upstairs after brushing her teeth and getting into her PJs.

Both get up at 7:30am. Every day, without fail!

Youdoyoutoday · 17/05/2022 22:22

Everyone on here thinks iabu but mine have always gone to bed early.
5.30-6pm until year 3,
6.00-6.30 year 4,5.
6.30-7.00 y 5,6
7.30 y7
8.00 y8,
9.00 y9,
By 10.00 y10
By 11.00 y11
After GCSEs they can choose but still tend to go early

Notdoingthis · 17/05/2022 22:25

4yo 8pm
6yo 8.30pm
8yo 9pm
That's when they fall asleep. They all go upstairs at about 7.30pm

Ohbother · 17/05/2022 22:26

9 yr old in bed around 8-8.15, lights out 8.30, 10 yr old bed at 8.30 lights out at 9. They were both in bed by 8 until fairly recently though. I think we're quite strict about getting lots of sleep.

Profanasaurusrex · 17/05/2022 22:26

3 year old goes up at 6.30 and usually fast asleep by 7.
7 year old goes up at 7.30 and usually asleep by 8.

they may have the very occasional later night for a special event but we certainly know about it from their grumpiness the next day.

maybein2022 · 17/05/2022 22:28

13 year old- no set bedtime. Trust her to go to bed at a sensible time. Usually 10.30 latest.

9 year old- by 9.30 pm usually but we’re not strict about it.

Both my kids have never needed as much sleep as average and now they’re older we all eat dinner together around 7.00/7.30.

LifeInsideMyhead · 17/05/2022 22:28

I think the corresponding morning times are important here too. Those saying eg "7.30 without fail" mine have to be up ealier than that. We have to leave for school at 8 so that would be way to late. So our bedtime to compare would need to be an hour earlier thatn that poster to be comparable amount of sleep.

10 and 13 here - 10yo sleep by 8.15, 13 yr old 9ish.

InChocolateWeTrust · 17/05/2022 22:31

5 & 2. 7.30pm. On a rare occasion youngest up til 8 if they've snuck in a nap (nearly 3). Sometimes both tired and asleep by 6.45 :D
