To think child benefit should be paid today!

It’s Friday, the weekend looms and I know today would be early to pay but why pay it late?? I really though it would be in today and I could take my kids out for a small treat tomorrow. Unfortunately I am totally broke at the moment due to clearing bills etc etc. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s disappointed. 😥

Doesn't it usually get paid on a Mon or Tues? Why did you think it would come on a Friday? There's no bank holiday next week (although I had to check, I've been surprised by bank holidays before!).

Cocoabutterkim · 13/05/2022 09:44

Isn’t it always paid on a Monday?

TheChippendenSpook · 13/05/2022 09:47

I think people get it on different days.

Pinksalty · 13/05/2022 09:48

I’m sure mine is every 4th Monday. It’s not a set date so wouldn’t end up on a weekend. The only time it comes Early is if it’s a BH.

Comefromaway · 13/05/2022 09:48

It's paid on a Monday or Tuesday. The website also lists the alternative payment dates when there is a bank holiday which is always earlier.

Giraffe888 · 13/05/2022 09:48

Are you saying because it’s 4 weeks since last paid? My last payment was paid early due to Easter bank holidays but I knew it wouldn’t be paid early this month

Isitcake · 13/05/2022 09:48

Got mine last Monday.

Tothepoint99 · 13/05/2022 09:49

It's paid every 4 weeks on a Monday or a Tuesday

Coldilox · 13/05/2022 09:49

Mine is usually paid every 28 days on a Monday. It’s paid on a Friday before a bank holiday if due then. But there’s no bank holiday this weekend so no reason for it to be paid early

Workwork21 · 13/05/2022 09:49

It's Monday or Tuesdays. I don't get how it's late

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 13/05/2022 09:50

Mine come every 4 weeks on a Tuesday. Why would the weekend make it late?

Ispini · 13/05/2022 09:53

I’ve had it paid early in the past if the 14th fell on a weekend. I’m obviously in the minority.

OP posts:
Giraffe888 · 13/05/2022 09:55

It’s not a set payday of 14th though. It’s just every 4 weeks on a mon or Tues depending on your payday

Tombero · 13/05/2022 09:56

But it’s paid every 28 days, not on a certain date? The date varies.

AngeloMysterioso · 13/05/2022 09:57

What’s the 14th got to do with it? I get it every 4th Monday regardless of what the actual date is.

HalloHello · 13/05/2022 09:58

Yeah every 4th Monday here too, got ours on Monday 9th

Ispini · 13/05/2022 10:01

I usually get it on the 14th, I was just asking, some comments are unnecessarily negative. It really doesn’t affect anyone else but me today, flipping hell.

I get mine every 4 weeks in a Monday. But weirdly got it in the 14th on a Thursday last month? Maybe that's where the confusion has come from op if you've had the same thing. Sorry it's ruined your weekend plans!
It should arrive Monday

PartyGoose · 13/05/2022 10:02

You don't "usually get it on the 14th" - that's impossible. It's paid 4 weekly so there will not be any set date.

NoSquirrels · 13/05/2022 10:05

It’s not paid on a set date e.g. 14th, it is paid every 4 weeks.

That might be your confusion, OP.

It makes it easy to check exactly when you’ll be paid because you just count forward 4 weeks from the last pay date.

When were you paid in April?

Tombero · 13/05/2022 10:05

I’ve no idea of your circumstances OP, but if you’re a single parent or on income support the child benefit website says you can arrange to receive it weekly.

NoSquirrels · 13/05/2022 10:06

You definitely mean child benefit? Not other benefits?

BarbaraofSeville · 13/05/2022 10:10

If it's paid early this time, it will only mean that you're short next time.

Maybe if you've 'cleared some bills' you'll be in a better position after payday or when the next lot of CB comes though and you'll have some left for treats then?

The weather's good at the moment so you could do something free with DC and can you manage something like ice creams from the supermarket as much cheaper than the ice cream van?

Isthatarealname · 13/05/2022 10:12

It is paid every 4 week but you would have got it on the 14th the last 3 months because of Easter weekend then just how the days fell in Feb and March
