To think child benefit should be paid today!

It’s Friday, the weekend looms and I know today would be early to pay but why pay it late?? I really though it would be in today and I could take my kids out for a small treat tomorrow. Unfortunately I am totally broke at the moment due to clearing bills etc etc. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s disappointed. 😥

You got it on the 14th as that was Easter weekend so they always pay it the last working day before a bank holiday. (You were due to receive it on Monday 18th)

Comefromaway · 13/05/2022 10:18

Yes, because there are 28 days in February then the date would be exactly the same the last 3 months.

I just chekced my last 6 months and I was paid every 4 weeks on as Monday except I was paid early 29th April as 2nd May was a bank holiday

Hallyup89 · 13/05/2022 10:18

If you got your last payment on the 14th it was due on the 18th and was paid early because if Easter. That means your next payment isn't due until the 16th.

There's no way you always get it on the 14th because it's a 4-weekly payment on a Monday or Tuesday.

Manekinek0 · 13/05/2022 10:35

Why do some people receive theirs every four weeks and others weekly?

Meklk · 13/05/2022 10:37

I believe it depends which bank you use.
Barclays- statement always shows Monday as a day it's paid, but money in my account every Saturday morning (I believe it's sent Friday night).

MyCommentWasDeleted · 13/05/2022 10:37

Makes sense to pay at the beginning of the week so food and necessities can be prioritised and people don’t spend on non-essential luxuries over a weekend.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 13/05/2022 10:44

Why do some people receive theirs every four weeks and others weekly?
You always used to be able to get it weekly if you received tax credits, not sure if that is still correct.

You used to be able to request weekly payments if you were on certain benefits. Not sure you can now.

I’ve had it paid early in the past if the 14th fell on a weekend. I’m obviously in the minority.

You don't always want it paid on the 14th or it would be monthly - every 28 days as it is means you get a 13th payment every year. I'm not sure why you'd get it on the same date each month

RoyKent · 13/05/2022 10:56

I receive mine weekly?

Hiphopopotamus · 13/05/2022 10:58

You need to get a Monzo account! You can access payments including my paycheque and child benefit from 4pm the working day before. My child benefit is due on Monday but because the payment is pending in my account I can access it from 4pm today.

I know that’s not helpful to you this month but might be worth setting up an account for the future. It’s really useful when it comes to bank holidays and things as if you have a payment due the day after a weekend or bank holiday you can get it before.

Catrice · 13/05/2022 11:01

Mine's due on Tuesday next week. As others have said, I get it every 4 weeks and always on a Tuesday. I would have loved it earlier though as have had to go nearly 2 weeks on just £56. Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day so might make up a picnic and take ds to the park/on a walk as a cheap treat! Think of something your dc could do for free maybe OP. Obviously it depends on age. My ds is only just 5 so is easily entertained!

iklboo · 13/05/2022 11:02

Tuesdays for me. It's only been paid early when it's a bank holiday.

DarkFuckeryoftheHumanHeart · 13/05/2022 11:03

Mine sometimes gets paid on a Saturday now

PBJTime · 13/05/2022 11:12

It gets paid every 4 weeks so count 4 weeks from your last payment. It's never been a set date of the 14th. Confused

Itsmyturn2222 · 13/05/2022 11:46

I'd take my kids out for the treat and either use my over draft or credit card then pay it back when your payment comes in next week?

Not everyone has an overdraft or credit card .

Andromachehadabadday · 13/05/2022 12:08

It gets paid weekly or every 4 weeks.

I don’t think you mean child benefit.

BattenburgDonkey · 13/05/2022 12:09

Mine gets paid 4 weekly on a Monday. If you got paid just on the 14th of every month you’d be missing out on a payment a year so maybe you’ve misunderstood when it’s due?

Andromachehadabadday · 13/05/2022 12:11

GirlCrushxxx · 13/05/2022 11:55

Is this a begging post?

Possibly. By someone who has no clue how CB is paid.

BattenburgDonkey · 13/05/2022 12:12

See, it’s not being paid late, it’s just not due yet. Unless you’ve got mixed up and mean a different benefit.

To think child benefit should be paid today!
Douzy · 13/05/2022 12:20

OP, I hear your disappointment and I'm sorry you've had a bunch of crappy replies (and some civilised, helpful ones). I'm hope you and your kids still have a nice weekend.

Referring to a 'begging post' is unpleasant and unkind. The OP did not do that.

Hullabaloo31 · 13/05/2022 12:26

Isthatarealname · 13/05/2022 10:12

It is paid every 4 week but you would have got it on the 14th the last 3 months because of Easter weekend then just how the days fell in Feb and March

This, it's not late at all.
