Anyone applied for a new children's passport recently?

I left 12 weeks between application and travel but am now feeling a bit stressed out.

How long did it take for you to receive them?

And also on the tracking website, what's the next step after documents received?

Thank you.

New new or replacement new.

nearlyspringyay · 28/04/2022 16:06

New or renew? My renewals have just taken 8 days

Moorlander · 28/04/2022 16:08

We've just got a replacement (renewed) child's passport through the door today. It was a really fast process I thought, less than 2 weeks! Was expecting far worse

SouthOfFrance · 28/04/2022 16:08

Someone has a current thread going on the holiday board which sounds like they are taking ages. Hope yours comes soon.

Singlebutmarried · 28/04/2022 16:09

6/3 Applied
7/3 sent old
11/3 old received
16/3 application approved
20/3 printed
24/3 despatched
25/3 received

this was for a child renewal.

longtimelurkerfirsttimeposter · 28/04/2022 16:10

Brand new passport took just over a month.
2 Weeks between documents received to printed, then further week for posting.

Something like that. It seemed to take ages but upon reflection was under the 8 weeks lead time they said on their website

curlycat · 28/04/2022 16:15

Think it really depends what passport office it ends up with

obsessedwithsleep · 28/04/2022 16:18

New new! Thanks everyone

I just sent the documents away yesterday for my daughters 1st passport. We don't go away until September though so it'll hopefully be back by then.

CheeryTreeBlossom · 28/04/2022 16:50

It's documents received, application approved, printed and then should be dispatched.
However mine never went to dispatched after printing on March 24th. I called up after I had received my documents back but not the passport (almost always passport arrives first) but got no info/call back as promised from passport office.

It was only after googling a few weeks later I found out you can track directly on the TNT website with your application info (the PEX 123456789 reference).
Turns out TNT had "attempted" delivery and failed, and was waiting for me to reschedule, but I'd received zero notification from anyone! No email, text, card etc. I had a few more failed delivery attempts because for some reason the driver CBA getting out the van. Eventually a call to TNT customer service got them to actually post it through my door. Otherwise I was about to go to the depot because I worried it would get returned and lost.

So applied 3rd March for a first passport, printed 24th March, received 21st April.

DD renewal has been stuck in processing since 22nd March. We are 6 weeks today since applying I am beginning to lose hope. Luckily I have managed to speak to two different people, I know some people can't actually get through, regarding upgrading both saying different things and the last one advising me to cancel and apply for fast track. However no fast track appointments and they have her previous passport.

TeddyisMydog · 28/04/2022 16:56

Applied 1st of March for new passport, still waiting (child's first)
Sent my application for a renewal, on the 10th of March and still not heard

GimmeUrCoffee · 28/04/2022 16:56

I just requested a first child's passport this year. It took about 10 weeks from sending off the application online to receiving the passport.

obsessedwithsleep · 28/04/2022 17:15

Did those who are applying for a new new passport send it to Bootle? Does anyone know when the 10 week period starts ticking? Gaaaar this is stressful!

OP posts:
Bubblepanda · 28/04/2022 17:19

I believe it's 10 weeks from the documents received, I could be wrong though. Our documents went to Newport. No one could explain what was taking the time at the processing stage. It is unbelievably stressful

Mugcupmug · 28/04/2022 17:21

I applied 10 days ago for 2 children's renewals, one of them I've just had a text to say it's been printed (went to glasgow), the other (went to Peterborough) haven't even acknowledged receipt of documents yet.
My colleague got her new passport last week, she sent that to Bootle and from application to delivery was 20 days for her.

I also applied 12 weeks before holiday and now keep seeing things about delays and am panicking already about the 2nd passport not coming.
What makes it stressful is it doesn't seem like you can get hold of the passport office to ask questions or check up on the application.

I'm assuming the 10 weeks starts from documents being received. I saw someone ask hmpo on twitter and they told them to call and ask 🙄

ElphabaFlies · 28/04/2022 17:22

Two first children's passports. About a month, from start of March. The documents went to two different addresses and only one set are back so far.

UsernameIsAlreadyTaken · 28/04/2022 17:27

Applied on 27 Feb for child's first passport and still haven't got it. Bootle office.

Docs signed for 3 March

Still showing as documents not received.

My MP is now involved.

Holiday in June is looking highly unlikely.

Bells3032 · 28/04/2022 17:28

Sent my daughters first passport off mid feb and got it back about 5 weeks later. 12 weeks should be fine.

crazeekat · 28/04/2022 17:32

Mine took two weeks 1 day, got it thins morning. Applied online not the paper application.

RedRobyn2021 · 28/04/2022 17:33

It took about 8 weeks for me to get my daughters passport, we received ours in March and it was her first. It was a bit of a faff but to be honest the turn around was fine

crazeekat · 28/04/2022 17:33

Meant today both mines went to bootle, daughter I got today mine I got txt today to say it's been processed. So shouldn't be that long either. Don't panic too much

alicewasahorse · 28/04/2022 17:34

5 weeks for a first passport and got it a couple of weeks ago. It went to Liverpool, all went very smoothly.

obsessedwithsleep · 28/04/2022 17:41

Our documents were received on 4 April but the website wasn't updated until 14 April. I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see but I'll be gutted and angry if we can't go.

My children’s came within about 2weeks after I sent all the documents. It was so quick I was amazed. This was March time
