Anyone applied for a new children's passport recently?

I left 12 weeks between application and travel but am now feeling a bit stressed out.

How long did it take for you to receive them?

And also on the tracking website, what's the next step after documents received?

Thank you.

Our two child passports arrived today within 2 weeks of application! I was pleasantly surprised! 😅

TheVanguardSix · 28/04/2022 22:32

Applied online- all renewals
DC1 just got his yesterday after about 9 weeks.

DC2… still waiting… 7 weeks and counting.
DC3’s took about two weeks. Applied for his last (early) September. And it arrived quickly.
I hope this isn’t how it’s going to be from now on.

Ugh dds was sent to Peterborough. Looks like they are the slowest. It's annoying tho that I live 15 mins from the Glasgow office yet have to send it away to there!

I think you're right!

Two child passports sent to different offices were approved, printed and delivered within 2 weeks.

Dh's is in Peterborough and they have apparently only just received his passport, despite them all being sent at the same time!

bellsbuss · 28/04/2022 22:39

@GrandTheftWalrus I did 3 renewals on the 16th March , 1 to Peterborough , 1 to Bootle and 1 to Newport. I had the ones from Peterborough and Bootle back nearly 3 weeks ago , Newport one is still saying being processed.

GrandTheftWalrus · 28/04/2022 22:43

Hmm. Different experiences then. We don't go away until September so plenty of time buy after how long it took for mine I don't have much faith. Dh has already said if the passport doesn't come he'll stay home with dd and I'll go on holiday as my parents and older dd are coming as well.

AnythingConsidered · 28/04/2022 22:46

I'm starting to panic about my DD16 renewal.

We fly on 26 May. So far!, the timeliness have been:

Submitted - 24 March
Docs Received - 5 April
Being Processed - 13 April

No updates since then 🙏

Loudhousefun · 28/04/2022 23:02

AnythingConsidered we have very similar time lines, We are booked for the 25th May. Starting to feel very anxious. Do you know which office it is at? Mine is at Durham

Parentcarerandcrazy · 28/04/2022 23:04

I'm also having a nightmare with mine. Applied for all my kids first passports at the same time, two went to Bootle and one to Peterborough. My two youngest were approved fairly quickly but my eldest, one of the Bootle ones, we are still waiting for. We had to get his ID verified again and someone else on MN said that they won't accept the same person verifying for more than one child from the same family (assuming they had looked at DS and DD together). So its 9 working days since that was submitted again and still no news other than another 'documents received' email. We travel in 5 weeks and I'm panicking.

AuspiciousKat · 29/04/2022 07:04

My dc had identification verified on 14th April, application approved on 21st April and it arrived on 28th April. Hopefully yours won't be too much longer.

Bubblepanda · 29/04/2022 07:30

Another restless night stressing about this blinking passport. From experience are the tracking updates real time or are there delays with that. Has anyone managed to get a reply from the online query form?

Oh no, I hope that's not the rule re the same person. You'd think that make that clear when you apply!

It's documents received, application approved, printed and then should be dispatched.
However mine never went to dispatched after printing on March 24th. I called up after I had received my documents back but not the passport (almost always passport arrives first) but got no info/call back as promised from passport office.

It was only after googling a few weeks later I found out you can track directly on the TNT website with your application info (the PEX 123456789 reference).
Turns out TNT had "attempted" delivery and failed, and was waiting for me to reschedule, but I'd received zero notification from anyone! No email, text, card etc. I had a few more failed delivery attempts because for some reason the driver CBA getting out the van. Eventually a call to TNT customer service got them to actually post it through my door. Otherwise I was about to go to the depot because I worried it would get returned and lost.

So applied 3rd March for a first passport, printed 24th March, received 21st April.

I had this at Xmas. About 3 days of failed deliveries even though they had been no where near my house (I have a ring!)

UsernameIsAlreadyTaken · 29/04/2022 07:35

Another sleepless night because of passport worries too.

I can't believe the stress this is causing and the thought of all that money we've spent being lost.

We are due to fly out to a wedding so it's not like i can just move the booking and all would be well.

cigarettesNalcohol · 29/04/2022 07:35

Applied early April and received text yesterday to say it's been approved. Just waiting to hear when it's ready to dispatch. New passport for baby.

Gufo · 29/04/2022 07:36

About 2 weeks for a child renewal recently.

Chrestomanci3 · 29/04/2022 07:36

Sent two child renewals and one adult renewal off on 13 April. Both children's new passports have been approved, printed and arrived back home this week. Adult passport has been received (at same office, on same day as the children's) but no further updates.

Yorkshireswithallroasts · 29/04/2022 08:35

Child’s first passport. Applied on 25 March, received text this morning to say passport would be delivered today. It took a good week or so to update the tracker to show they’d received the documents and then another fortnight for them to approve the application.

Child's new passport started 14/3 arrived 21/4.

cigarettesNalcohol · 29/04/2022 10:12

@obsessedwithsleep sent to office Redgrave Court, Bootle.

Just had a text this morning saying "it's printed and it will be transferred to their delivery supplier in the next few days. When it's ready for delivery, they will contact me with a tracking reference."

plsbekind · 29/04/2022 10:14

Just called the 0300 number and their systems have crashed 😭

So I've requested yet another call back. The last I spoke to was really nice tbf, and said that my application was approved on 1st April and that you can actually request fastrack to receive original documents back.

Update pending on system - I'll update if I get any more positive news.

Thank you all for sharing experience and OP for starting this great thread

cigarettesNalcohol · 29/04/2022 10:16

I read a 'horrendous' article in The Telegraph on Tuesday about millions of passports delays and how a mother had been waiting for over 5 months for her child's passport... others had been told it was ready but the courrier company wasn't delivering for weeks on end.

It's a lot of scaremongering/click bait. Like usual from the media. They know the summer holidays are around the corner and that a lot of people haven't been away in a while because of the pandemic.

Yes it's true there are longer wait times for the passports at the moment but it's not all doom and gloom like the papers want to make out.

lyra12 · 29/04/2022 10:17

New - took 7 weeks. Received it yesterday
