There are active two threads on this in Feminism but I feel I just have to update here for traffic. Although protests appear to have, for now, stopped the theatre production going ahead, new and highly disturbing material has today appeared on their webpage, clearly aimed at children. It (cheerily and breezily) suggests, among other things, that children search for images of masturbating animals on the internet and then draw what they see. I am not going to Google that term, I really don't want that in my history, but first, can you imagine what children will be exposed to if they search that, and second, this is pure and simple grooming of children into being abused. Masturbating animals? What larks! Lets have an arts and crafts session about it! Next steps: Masturbating with Uncle Jim? Why not? Masturbating Uncle Jim? Of course!

I have now made a complaint to CEOP. Others may wish to as well.

Already an extremist, but I found a couple of non-Mnetters who also share extreme views to sign... people who are HCPs and actual school staff, who understand safeguarding.

Gosh. Extremist. And here I thought 'radical' feminist was the highest level I would achieve.

Julie Bindel says that when she's subject to unsolicited commentary by protesters and hecklers,

it’s always Hitler, never Pol Pot. None of your mid-range dictators ever get a look in

womansplaceuk.org/2019/05/30/3697/

The 'extremist' part of the spectrum is getting to be very crowded with all of these latest additions from people who sign petitions because they have understandable concerns about safeguarding.

This cartoon was done by Colin Wright to capture the US political scene but it approximately works for the UK if viewed as a crude binary of how a number of left-leaning or centrist people have come to find themselves denounced as (right wing) extremists.

*it’s always Hitler, never Pol Pot. None of your mid-range dictators ever get a look in *

I dunno, we got an 'Al-Qeada' the other day. And there was a 'militant' earlier today, as well as the usual 'hysterical' 'strident' 'fascist' 'pearl clutching' 'vipers'.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 21:01

It's almost like the more reasonable women and women's concerns are shown to be, the wilder the insults get.

Shortpoet · 20/04/2022 22:26

I tried to archive the site but like PP got failure messages.

CompassPoint · 20/04/2022 22:45

Are you kidding? Are people here sending DMs about children, masturbating animals and wanting to chat about children and masturbation? Are they getting off on that themselves?

That is absolutely revolting, anyone defending this bullshit needs investigating.

EsmaCannonball · 20/04/2022 23:59

Did this iffy theatre group take any measures to prevent adults unaccompanied by children from buying tickets to this or from taking part in one of their workshops? The whole thing seems like it was created for sinister adults, with the innocently attending children not realising that they've been laid on as the entertainment.

I really hate this insidious queer theory/MAP culture, framing safeguarding as bigoted and uptight, while really it's the same old men's sexual rights' movement masquerading as progress.

@littledrummergirl Unfortunately (and necessarily) mainstream daytime media cannot engage with the frank and explicit level of conversation required to give this proper attention or journalism. Too much middle-class constraint within media is often why we can't get real things dealt with. The degenerate nature of this cultural issue requires real leadership and straight-talking and it's almost impossible for mainstream media to do this. Their fear of saying or doing something wrong and upsetting the unicorn brigade is also a huge part of the issue.

Not sure why, after all if it's suitable for five year old?
Or are they saying it's not?

Not a peep from CEOP yet. I will be optimistic and think they may have been overwhelmed on this issue?

Or maybe they don’t think it’s a problem

I see the Arts Council have tweeted to confirm they are investigating. I’m also going to contact Shoreditchtownhall and Lottery funding, both referenced on the website. This whole debacle makes me feel physically sick. In plain sight indeed.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2022 05:21

Please, please report this to MNHQ.

Also, is it true that the 'performers' were recruited va Twitter? Does anyone have a link please?

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2022 05:23

Sorry, can't get to grips with the new site - I meant report the creepy PMs to MNHQ

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2022 05:30

I think I will do that bore.

I am trying to find the recruiting tweet, I have definitely seen it. Meanwhile I came across this one, which I had not seen before. I wish I hadn't really, its even more sickening.

Omg the twitter advert is making me feel ill

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2022 07:22

I have heard nothing yet from CEOP or Avon and Somerset police. Is there anyone who lives in Bristol who could contact the MP? TheEgg Ltd is registered with Companies House at a Bristol address.

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2022 07:27

But I really really believe this is a police matter. This has crossed well into criminal activity, not just preparation for criminal activity, which is how I viewed it initially. There are lots of people on Twitter saying "they need their hard drives examined". They really really do. Everyone involved.

KittenKong · 21/04/2022 07:29

Now who was it on twitter who stated that this was the definition of non contact grooming? Must dig it out.

Shame the NSPCC won’t be interested in challenging them in court.

theDudesmummy · 21/04/2022 07:37

When I contacted the NSPCC two days ago (about the show) their reply was completely lame, they just said they hadn't been aware of the show, didn't know what the content was and they seemed pretty uninterested. I am going to contact them again today posting out the stuff on the website and that it in facts meets the definition of abuse.

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 21/04/2022 07:39

Here is the government definition of CSA in England

Involves forcing or enticing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities, not necessarily involving a high level of violence, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening.”
“The activities may involve physical contact, including assault by penetration (for example, rape or oral sex) or non-penetrative acts such as masturbation, kissing, rubbing and touching outside of clothing. They may also include non-contact activities, such as involving children in looking at, or in the production of, sexual images, watching sexual activities, encouraging children to behave in sexually inappropriate ways, or grooming a child in preparation for abuse (including via the internet).”

I suspect because their parents (mostly) have bought to keys and taken them among they can say it wasn’t coercion.

mrshoho · 21/04/2022 07:56

Maybe parents who bought in to this show should also be reported and investigated. Anyone of sound mind would see this show goes against child Safeguarding guidelines.

This one! Blimey!

'What can I do to make it hurt less?'

PrelateChuckles · 21/04/2022 08:02

There was an article on my Facebook feed about it and the Facebook comments were very depressing. Most people were stating how it was against safeguarding but the arguments from the mostly male idiots saying the usual nonsense about pearl clutching and how they read The Body Book and they turned out fine Hmm
