To update about The Family Sex Show

There are active two threads on this in Feminism but I feel I just have to update here for traffic. Although protests appear to have, for now, stopped the theatre production going ahead, new and highly disturbing material has today appeared on their webpage, clearly aimed at children. It (cheerily and breezily) suggests, among other things, that children search for images of masturbating animals on the internet and then draw what they see. I am not going to Google that term, I really don't want that in my history, but first, can you imagine what children will be exposed to if they search that, and second, this is pure and simple grooming of children into being abused. Masturbating animals? What larks! Lets have an arts and crafts session about it! Next steps: Masturbating with Uncle Jim? Why not? Masturbating Uncle Jim? Of course!

I have now made a complaint to CEOP. Others may wish to as well.

@Yeeq

Extremist views 🤪 Words mean nothing anymore. Dont be inappropriate around children is now an extremist view. Hmm.
Like... what actually is the extremist view that they're claiming? That this kind of sex education for five year olds might not be age appropriate? They are the extremists, not the rest of society!
DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 15:59

'small group of people with extremist views' - keeping on saying it doesn't make it true, TFSS.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 20/04/2022 16:11

Has any evidence been found of the alleged threats by extremists?

Bloodybridget · 20/04/2022 16:14

I just emailed the i newspaper asking if they would do a better report on this than the BBC, Guardian and Independent. Not holding my breath.

No-one would object for this ‘show’ to be aimed at teenagers and above, it’s the 5 year olds that people have a problem with, but the theatre company do not seem to have taken that on-board. I’m sure if they had just upped the age limit to 13 or whatever they could still have gone ahead and not wasted all the time and money that has gone into it so far. The fact that they do not wish to do so speaks volumes about who they actually wanted their main audience to be - infant school aged children, and now they are not going to get them they have called the whole thing off. So chilling that they are not even trying to hide this.

I would object to it for a 13 year old or young teen.

ScreamingMeMe · 20/04/2022 16:30

What's with all the private messages people are receiving? Dodgy as hell and shows no respect for boundaries. Funnily enough...

Organictangerine · 20/04/2022 16:33

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 20/04/2022 16:11

Because the ‘threats’ are questions about why they are encouraging children to search for masturbating animals on the internet and the ‘extremists’ are generally middle aged mums 😆

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 16:34

There is another problem in teens being exposed to this ideology. Teens can be child abusers too.

I like the video, @DomesticatedZombie !

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 16:39

@ScreamingMeMe if it is the same person who messaged me, they stopped dead when I pointed out that being a "primary school teacher" who "knows nothing about sexual abuse" (which is what they claimed) would be actionable by their employer and the regulator, and potentially illegal. They waffled on about children needing to masturbate, I didn't respond to that.

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 16:39

I liked the video too, actually raised a smile in this whole grim affair

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 16:44

That video also did a good job of highlighting that the problems with the ideology of this group raise even wider concerns than the grooming of chidren for abuse. Something about female erasure while simultaneously objectifying and fetishising the female body. I hadn't really picked that up as clearly, and he put it well.

Animal masturbation is indeed gone. I wonder why...

They've removed it? This is why everyone should get in the habit of archiving before sharing info, esp when making threads. When they first started trending on Mumsnet, I checked and no one had saved any webpages. We could have easily lost all evidence if they had decided to nuke the site. So make sure to keep on top of it everyone, they are obviously reading.
You want to archive the whole page ideally, in case we overlook something. Can always screenshot specific bits for sharing afterwards.

I noticed they edited some minor stuff when comparing pages. I can't remember exactly what was written, but they removed a sentence about the show being an 'alternative to porn' and changed some phrasing about the show being for families, it's now 'for young people' or something.
Anyway, these are the sites to use:

archive.ph
web.archive.org

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 16:50

I sent the link to the animal mastubation section to CEOP yesterday. Since they have not got back to me I do not know if they looked at it before it was taken down.

OmIndeed · 20/04/2022 16:51

*Actually, someone archived the glossary and maybe one of the show pages the day before it began trending, if I remember correctly. Anyway, 99% of it hadn't been snapped, which is my point. I'd archive anything related to them tbh. You don't know what might turn out to be significant.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 16:56

I've archived a fair amount of it.

DomesticatedZombie · 20/04/2022 16:57

Definitely teh animal masturbation and the glossary, and I think some of the podcast transcripts.

OmIndeed · 20/04/2022 17:12

Brill, ty.

They still haven't typed up the podcast transcripts for 'Bodies: A Conservation' and 'Relationships: A Conversation' they just say 'We're currently typing this podcast episode up as quickly as we can - check back tomorrow (fingers crossed!)'

So, those are pages to watch.

OmIndeed · 20/04/2022 17:16

www.thisegg.co.uk/thefamilysexshow I don't think the archive link I posted in an earlier comment worked. So that's the link needed to paste into wayback to find snapshots. I tried saving it on archive.ph but it didn't work very well, so I wouldn't bother looking there, half of the content is missing. Egg have taken that page down now, that's the 404 we were discussing.

iklboo · 20/04/2022 17:18

@ScreamingMeMe - I reported & blocked mine. If they're unwilling to engage in public on here, or think I'll be intimidated on here (ha,ha) then I'm not entertaining them.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 20/04/2022 17:38

Are you kidding? Are people here sending DMs about children, masturbating animals and wanting to chat about children and masturbation? Are they getting off on that themselves? 🤮

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 18:15

I put this on the thread in Feminism as well:
OK I have now had it with waiting for CEOP. I have made a report to Avon and Somerset Police, as ThisEgg Ltd is registered with Companies House at an address in Bristol. I suppose they will probably see this and I don't care, as we have screenshots and archived material. (And they didn't shut up shop wheh I mentioned CEOP very prominently on this thread yesterday).

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 18:20

@Doubletoilandtrouble Correct, and in my case I got a person pretending to be a primary school teacher (dear God I hope they were pretending) who does "not know anything about sexual abuse" but believes it to be important that chidren are educated on how to masturbate. He/she/they did not get back to me after I called out the potential illegality of their supposed position.

Haven’t read all 14 pages of this thread but there’s a petition regarding this, you can sign here:
citizengo.org/en/node/207302?utm_source=link&utm_medium=social&utm_content=tyflow&utm_campaign=

This is the petition which was cited in The Guardian article today. The statement from the family sex show said there’s a ‘small’ number of people who are opposing the show… there’s 39,000 signatures!!!! I wouldn’t call that small! X

Signed

theDudesmummy · 20/04/2022 18:50

Yup, if anyone has not signed the peition please do so. Calling all "extremists".
