Mumsnet is "like Al-Qaeda for women", apparently.

Saw it on Twitter. Well here's a shout out to all my fellow "extremists". And all because we say no to bullshit and won't suffer fools gladly 😉

I'd say mumsnet is more like Corrie, Eastenders and WWE Wrestling all rolled into one.

livyaz · 18/04/2022 14:28

Maybe we should have a flag 😃

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 18/04/2022 14:28

Was it said by a man by any chance?!

PonyPatter44 · 18/04/2022 14:30

Excellent, I've always wanted to be part of something bigger than me.

Trudij123 · 18/04/2022 14:31

Twitter should have penguin bollards….

FourTeaFallOut · 18/04/2022 14:34

Yup, thread titles all over the place like, 'What radical and extreme things are happening in your house today?'

Isn't it funny how much some men get pissed off when women can talk freely?

VeniVidiWeeWee · 18/04/2022 14:37

How do you know everyone' here's a woman?
OhamIreally · 18/04/2022 14:41

We don't but we can tell which ones are the men.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/04/2022 14:42

How do you know everyone' here's a woman?

And where did I say everyone speaking here was a woman?

RobertsRadio · 18/04/2022 14:43

Yeah, what are the chances?😀
Abitofalark · 18/04/2022 14:47

I wouldn't want to amplify a slur that some antagonist made on twitter.

RoyKentsChestHair · 18/04/2022 14:49

We all KNOW that not everyone here is a woman. Some posters tell us straight up “man here” and some mansplain so it speaks for itself.

What we do know is that - unlike elsewhere on the internet - this site is populated by mainly women, taking freely ish about the issues that affect women, mums, families and occasionally men too. It’s very clear that - coming from Twitter, and the comparison to Al Qaeda - this comment refers to the radical feminist elements of MN which funnily enough are almost entirely populated by women. So bore off with your “not all women” crap.

IncompleteSenten · 18/04/2022 14:50

Oh they just get more and more ridiculous don't they?

PonyPatter44 · 18/04/2022 14:51

If we are like al Qaeda for women, does that mean we won't be getting any more psycheques from.the religious right? I am so confused (and still skint).

VestofAbsurdity · 18/04/2022 14:57

It's the sum total of their argument/rebuttal - abuse and name calling. Pathetic.

Helleofabore · 18/04/2022 14:59

That sentiment does get pushed by extreme activists yes. Usually ones who can only argue with emotionally manipulative points and not actually anything fact or scientifically based.

LaWench · 18/04/2022 15:01

At what time are we beheading the Men?

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 18/04/2022 15:01

Difficult to comment without the context. I can't find that phrase on Twitter so I don't know if the originator is being ironic, deploring the way in women are described as extremists for behaving other than as a doormat etc.

dworky · 18/04/2022 15:01

Praise be to Justine.

C25kBecky · 18/04/2022 15:02

😂😂😂

babyjellyfish · 18/04/2022 15:04

On the basis that Al-Qaeda is an organisation which seeks to terrorise those who don't share their beliefs in something not proven to exist, and which believes that female people are inferior to male people and shouldn't have equal rights including the right to speak freely, I'm willing to bet the person who made that comment has more in common with Al-Qaeda than most Mumsnet users.
