To attempt to buy Easter eggs, or am I way too late?

I need a couple of large Easter eggs. Local supermarket yesterday had sold out.

Have I left it too late and its the same everywhere? Or are there any shops with loads left?...

Try co op they have a good deal on too

ShowOfHands · 16/04/2022 08:33

I find that by this point, there are usually very few left. None in our local Tesco or Waitrose yesterday (I was looking for something else but people were a bit frantic in both).

Reckon you'll find something somewhere but perhaps without the selection you'd have had mid week.

Stuffin · 16/04/2022 08:34

It's going to vary locally but I was surprised to see lots still in Morrisons yesterday.

LadyMacduff · 16/04/2022 08:34

You mught get lucky but you'll struggle for the classic Cadburys Creme Egg, Galaxy etc ones. I went on Thursday, kicking myself for leaving it late and it was looking low then.

Plumbear2 · 16/04/2022 08:34

Went shopping on Thursday most had gone. Thankfully got mine 2 weeks ago because this usually happens

somethinghere · 16/04/2022 08:34

I hope so, I'm out to buy mine today Grin

MrsBlondie · 16/04/2022 08:34

Lots in my morrisons yesterday

TheGirlInTheGreenDress · 16/04/2022 08:35

There were lots in my local massive sainsburys yesterday lunchtime

Babyvenusplant · 16/04/2022 08:35

I went out yesterday to two supermarkets and both seemed to have a lot of eggs left, morrisons had the most

Cockenspiel · 16/04/2022 08:36

Go to a petrol station with attached shop like M&S or similar, there were loads last night at our M&S one.

Aliceforgot · 16/04/2022 08:36

Buying mine this morning, probably from C-op which had lots two days ago.

crackingreward · 16/04/2022 08:37

Tesco had loads yesterday. I was really surprised as I remember struggling this time last year to replace the ones I had eaten get a couple last minute!

Pegasussnail · 16/04/2022 08:38

Lidl had some last night - not a massive selection. But also local spar type shops are likely to have them too.

ListenLinda · 16/04/2022 08:39

Depends where you are I guess, the Morrisons near me had barely any yesterday. Infact, they were getting ready to change the displays over. Aldi had very few on Thursday.
But the Sainsburys near me has been really well stocked for weeks.

PrincessPaws · 16/04/2022 08:40

Went to sainsburys yesterday and there were loads, but it is going to depend where you are.

Maybe try a local Co Op or somewhere?

ZenNudist · 16/04/2022 08:40

Urrrgh MIL has been ill, messages me yesterday that she wants more eggs for the egg hunt. At 5pm on good Friday we found ourselves asking at B&M and asda for easter eggs. All out. Humiliation.

I managed to get little ones (all we wanted) in tesco extra. Try there we got loads at a good price. Don't know if they have big ones.

Between what I bought and extras for MIL we now have more chocolate than anyone can eat!

DoorLion · 16/04/2022 08:41

It enrages me when shops actually withdraw them before Easter, although I can understand them running out.

There actually seem more about this year than previous years though, I bought mine from our local Tesco Express yesterday and there were still plenty of Wispa, Creme Egg, Twirl, Dairy Milk and Lindt.

Confusedandanxiety · 16/04/2022 08:42

@Cockenspiel

Go to a petrol station with attached shop like M&S or similar, there were loads last night at our M&S one.
Second this. There were loads in Sainsbury's petrol station yesterday. Popular ones as well like Cadbury Creme Egg, Mini Eggs. And at same prices as in-store, so some were red ticket £4 instead of £6. Loads of people go to petrol stations just to fuel up only.
Funkyslippers · 16/04/2022 08:43

Absolutely loads of all kinds in our big Sainsbury's yesterday!

Frazzled2207 · 16/04/2022 08:43

Sainsburys at 8pm last night had quite a lot albeit limited choice. But 5/6 kinds.

neverbeenskiing · 16/04/2022 08:43

There were loads of large eggs in our local tesco yesterday, but no little ones for an egg hunt which was what we needed. Ended up getting them from Amazon.

ToastandJamandTea · 16/04/2022 08:43

Local garden centre. Went to Dobbies yesterday and they had loads heavily reduced. Some really lovely unusual ones too.

ukborn · 16/04/2022 08:44

Plenty in our local Sainsburys. You may have luck in local corner shop if bigger stores are out near you

Dougieowner · 16/04/2022 08:44

Must be a local thing.
Went to our local Tesco's to do the weekly shop yesterday evening (6pm) and they had them stacked high.

Ohmnomnom · 16/04/2022 08:45

Wilko had loads yesterday
