To attempt to buy Easter eggs, or am I way too late?

I need a couple of large Easter eggs. Local supermarket yesterday had sold out.

Have I left it too late and its the same everywhere? Or are there any shops with loads left?...

I live close to a very religious area - not Christian - and the Tesco there always has so many that they can’t sell, so loads go on discount the following week. Whereas my actual neighbourhood is always out of Easter eggs at this point.

Can you visit any religious (non Christian) neighbourhoods’ local supermarket chain??

MurmuratingStarling · 16/04/2022 09:28

100s of them yesterday evening in

Morrisons
Aldi
Asda

Also, I just never get it why people leave getting Easter eggs til Easter Saturday? Confused

Also, yet ANOTHER thread posted by a poster who posted one post and then no more. Hmm

M&S food had lots this morning

TheLadyDIdGood · 16/04/2022 09:34

Loads in the sainsbury's, Morrisons and Tesco where I am. Check local shops, newsagents & petrol stations.

Dickopf · 16/04/2022 09:34

Loads in my local big Tesco last night. I'm hoping to get some half price today Grin

Wotrewelookinat · 16/04/2022 09:53

Loads in our local big Tesco yesterday.

Namechangehobby · 16/04/2022 09:55

Asda had ZERO last night. I was raging 🤣🤣🤣

Furrbabymama87 · 16/04/2022 09:57

They've been in the shops for the last 2 months, why wait till now?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/04/2022 09:57

usually the expensive ones are left.
try your local newsagent/garage

starfishmummy · 16/04/2022 09:57

Given that there always seem to be leftover ones sold off at a reduced price , there must be some somewhere!!

Some people forget, it's hardly a crime. Maybe they have other things to think about.
AHungryCaterpillar · 16/04/2022 10:10

All the shops I went into yesterday still had some, it was Asda, Poundland and Sainsbury’s

dottydodah · 16/04/2022 10:20

SC here large Tesco lots of Aero Mint!(my favourite) Also SB lots left.Hope you get some .One tip if you dont get lucky .Plastic egg moulds (lakeland ) melt a couple of bars of choc over a low heat , pour into moulds ,leave to set ON .Used to pipe name on each egg with ready made icing.

NotQuiteUsual · 16/04/2022 10:27

I'm one of those hyper organised, anxious folk and can I just say. I absolutely envy those of you who left it till today to buy eggs. It sounds so much more exciting and fun going out checking multiple shops, being at the mercy of what's left. Far more eggciting(lol) than buying a few a week as soon as the shops stock them like I do.

Good luck last minute preppers! May you find more than Bounty eggs on your travels Grin

MrsLargeEmbodied · 16/04/2022 10:32

you very own easter egg hunt ! Grin

try some of the less popular shops?

Chely · 16/04/2022 10:33

The expensive ones are still on shelves, mostly lindt ones left in our local supermarket yesterday.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 16/04/2022 10:34

Was just in my local Sainsbury's twenty minutes ago and they were clearing the few that they had left off the shelves.

AHungryCaterpillar · 16/04/2022 10:38

when I was a child my mum use to wait till after Easter to buy them as they would all be half price, And there would be loads left, now they sell out before!

Moody123 · 16/04/2022 11:21

We had loads in our local Morrisons yesterday

DoorLion · 16/04/2022 11:36

Why buy something two months before you need it? I don't buy mince pies in October, or suncream in March, or Halloween costumes in August, and I resent being forced to by shops that decide to clear their shelves of topical things before the season itself has finished.
LakieLady · 16/04/2022 11:58

I've got to go and get some. I wouldn't bother, but the in-laws are big on egg exchange, so I feel obliged to.

I think they're such a rip off, the amount you pay for not much chocolate just because it's egg shaped is outrageous imo.

Youngest niece is 20 now, so I may just buy boxes of chocs instead.

Alwayspaintyournails · 16/04/2022 12:00
