.....to wash soiled dog bedding in washing machine?

lockdownlady871 · 07/04/2022 15:33

Puppy did a poo in her cage last night, I cleaned and rinsed it off then washed on a hot wash. DH lost his shit and says we need a new washing machine. I have done another cycle with disinfectant and figure that is fine. Have always washed dog beds in there.
He says we have vastly different levels of hygiene....

I would have done the same as you.

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 07/04/2022 15:36

Your husband is nuts. Run it on a hot wash with antibacterial stuff in it.

QOD · 07/04/2022 15:36

He’s nuts

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/04/2022 15:36

What does he think people do with re useable nappies?

As long as you did a hot wash / disenfectant it'll be fine and what I would have done too.

LOL@ new washing machine Grin

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 07/04/2022 15:36

It's a washing machine. He's mad.

Frlrlrubert · 07/04/2022 15:37

Where else would you wash it?

Kanaloa · 07/04/2022 15:37

Where are you supposed to wash it? In the second dirty washing machine?

It’s a washing machine. It washes things, that’s its job. If you threw up on the carpet by mistake do you just get a new one?

Partypoooooper · 07/04/2022 15:38

Provided the solid was wiped off and it was followed with a cleaning cycle - as you have done I don't understand his problem

moonbedazzled · 07/04/2022 15:38

The washing machine can cure your dirt problem. Unfortunately there's no cure for your idiot problem. 🙄

FOJN · 07/04/2022 15:39

He knows the water in a washing machine isn't recycled, right? If you'd not cleaned the poo up first I might agree with him but you did so he's being ridiculous.

Where does he think you should wash the dog bedding? In the kitchen sink? Bath? Bucket out in the garden?

I'm also wondering if you have children yet? Does he think nappies will always contain all poo?

Next time the dog bedding needs washing I'd leave it to him and tell him that's what you plan to do.

Iamkmackered1979 · 07/04/2022 15:39

Nonsense. Ive got an autistic incontinent child I wash his things in hot washing machine then make sure it’s clean and I’ll do a clean cycle with some antibacterial stuff in just to be sure. He wets every night. I don’t put in solid waste but as long as it’s wiped off what does it matter. It’s a washing machine not a steriliser it’s mean to get things clean it doesn’t wash the next load with the same dirty water. Your husband is daft

SomePosters · 07/04/2022 15:39

No worries.

He can buy a new machine and take on the washing if he wants it done his way

yorkshireteaspoonie · 07/04/2022 15:39

A new machine? Good lord. What does he think millions of people washing shitty baby clothes or suffering from both kinds of incontinence every day do?

After I wash dog beds I put a packet of 'vamoosh' in the washer on the longest hottest wash. That will suffice

Tlollj · 07/04/2022 15:45

While I think he’s over reacting I think children’s poo is different from dog’s. Not sure why tbh.
But where else could you wash it?

Blossomtoes · 07/04/2022 15:47

I think children’s poo is different from dog’s

Nope, shit’s shit. He’s bonkers. Where did he think you should wash it?

CrystalCoco · 07/04/2022 15:52

Oh lol I'm on your husband's side (although a new washing machine is a bit extreme)
my cat once did a runny poo (I can't spell 'the d word'!) and I just chucked the cat bed out, I didn't want that anywhere near my washing machine
(not great for the environment I know, but it was a one off and the bed was fairly old)

Bagelsandbrie · 07/04/2022 15:52

Logically it’s fine but I have to admit I’d be a bit Envy (not envy!) about that too. But then I don’t have dogs / cats etc for these kind of reasons, I hate the idea of animal poop and mess.

Herja · 07/04/2022 15:59

When I fell over on dog shit, I washed my clothes. When my babies poo exploded, I washed theirs too. When my cat shat in my slippers, they also went in the .

I mean, I'd not wash an actual turd, but what's the bloody point of a washing machine if not to wash disgusting things FOR you, rather than hand washing it?!

We had a wash board and a baby bath/river to do the washing when I was wee: hand washing shit is horrid! I do not recomend it!

gingerbiscuits · 07/04/2022 16:00

He's nuts! As long as any 'solid matter' has been disposed of, then where else would you wash it?? A hot wash followed by a cleaning cycle is what everyone does, surely? When you have kids, there's pee, poo, puke, blood & snot to contend with.... in vast quantities....that ALL goes in the washing machine!! 😆 As do muddy trainers, doormats, cleaning cloths, etc. How are they any different, too?? 🤷‍♀️

Bagelsandbrie · 07/04/2022 16:00

Grin @ washing “actual turd”

Chihuahuapower · 07/04/2022 16:02

Run your machine on the hottest setting it will go to- mine is 90 degrees.

Actually, do this every month or so is great to cleanse your machine in general Star

HELLITHURT · 07/04/2022 16:05

Not sure your DH is cut out for dog ownership!

GeneLovesJezebel · 07/04/2022 16:07

He’s mad. Sounds like you need a new DH, not a new washing machine 🤣

Blossomtoes · 07/04/2022 16:07

Your cat shat in your slippers @Herja? What the hell did you do to it for it to inflict such a horrible punishment?

Tlollj · 07/04/2022 16:09

Well I don’t know if shit is shit whoever shit it is. ( there’s a sentence to be going in with) I’ve changed hundreds of shitty nappies in my time, but I wouldn’t wipe a dog’s arse.
