Product/service idea: Salad rental.

You phone the salad rental depot nearest you and they pop round with a lovely bowl of salad for your party. The guests see the healthy vegetables and rainbow of pretty colours sitting among your tasty beige buffet and judge you to be a good and worthwhile person. Then after the party has finished the salad rental van comes back and packs up the uneaten salad so it can be taken to the next party.

Could maybe rent out pineapples as well for when you have visitors.

Any investors?

Errr yes to this! ALSO have another strand which rents out salad to put on your child’s plate, which is ignored and then taken to the next family.

Scorchedterf · 26/03/2022 20:48

Your going to make millions

StripeyDeckchair · 26/03/2022 20:50

Thats gross, who would want salad that'd been to multiple other parties!!!

floppybit · 26/03/2022 20:50

Hahaha I love this!

duvetdayforeveryone · 26/03/2022 20:50

YABU. You don't win friends with salad.

If you want your guests to eat healthy, the food must seem appealing.

  • Mini corn on the cob on a skewer (similar to KFC but made at home)
  • Vegetables worth dipping in dip, such as cucumber sticks, sugar snap peas.
  • Sushi is always a hit Grin
MermaidEyes · 26/03/2022 20:53

As long as I can pick out the sweet peppers from the salad, they're the tasty bit. You can send the rest back.

declutteringmymind · 26/03/2022 20:57

A stunt salad?? Lol

A local cafe near us has fake your own dinner party. You take your pie dish and they put whatever you want in it - lasagne, shepherds pie etc. it's bloody genius.

ShirleyBadass · 26/03/2022 20:58

😂

Gazelda · 26/03/2022 20:58

You could do a sideline in tomato juice.
It sits on the 'bar' looking exotic and interesting. But no one drinks it so it can be crated up at the end of the night.
Pop some sticks of celery in a tall glass next to the Tom juice too.

I think lots of people would like a salad with experience.

This is my favourite ever ‘totally misses the point’ post 😅😅

Great idea OP. Imagine the franchise opportunities.

Is it real or plastic?
Mysterian · 26/03/2022 21:19

Real of course. Who on earth would serve their guests rented plastic food?

OP posts:
EinsteinaGogo · 26/03/2022 21:19

YES, OP!!!

Genius idea.

Can you add on a fruit salad for dessert, too?

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 26/03/2022 21:22

Do you pay more the more experienced the stunt salad is? There's going to be a fine line, there, before it's so experienced it goes slimy.

LabelMaker · 26/03/2022 21:24

I'm in then.
Mysterian · 26/03/2022 21:30

Couldn't do fruit salad. People eat that.

Salad getting more expensive the more experience it has? People might prefer a shy young novice salad. Needs research. That's why I'm here.

Does this include the stunt tray of cucumber and carrot sticks served at all children's parties? I'm in!!!!!

Cheeseandlobster · 26/03/2022 21:43

I genuinely love salad as do a lot of my friends. We also love cake and biscuits so not a stealth boast. You are assuming no one would eat the salad but we would demolish it which would leave no salad for the next party. Out of a party of say 20, you could guarantee at least 5 people would have a bit of salad so why would the next party want a salad that has been partially eaten?

declutteringmymind · 26/03/2022 21:49

I reckon you need to get the recipe right, things that are quite hardy so to speak. Mozzarella pearls, and such like, and instead of a dressing, dry seasoning such as sumac or truffle shavings.

I'm sure mumsnet will help you with your Dragon's den pitch.

SpaghettiNotCourgetti · 26/03/2022 21:50

God knows why. It's awful. All that juice swilling about, always tasting of orange and infecting everything else.

Perhaps salad rentals could be charged on a sliding scale, to cover losses? Presumably it would be tweaked between customers anyway, just for aesthetics/wilting.

Was just about to post that there would be kids' only option of carrot and cucumber sticks for parties.

OP, you need to call the business Nessa and Gwen's Salad Rental.

EinsteinaGogo · 26/03/2022 21:58

PAH.

Who eats fruit salad? Odd balls!
