To think tomorrow should be father's day

March is shit, clocks changing is even shitterer (note hospitality is mainly run by women) we don't even get a full 24 hours as mothers day.

I propose swapping with June father's day, football and rugby are over, weather is better and they get the full fucking 24 hours.

I was expected to be outraged, but actually I agree.

I will take this thanks.

I'm sure some will say its traditional but fuck me why should mothers day have less hours. Less hours in a crap month. All those women having to get up an hour earlier to serve others.

Couldn't agree more.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 26/03/2022 20:44

Nope. One less hour to parent tomorrow as clocks go forward tomorrow. It’s like an extra present!

sophienelisse · 26/03/2022 20:45

I bet a man decided on the dates.

June has better weather.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 26/03/2022 20:46

Sounds like a plan

AgnesNaismith · 26/03/2022 20:47

Wellll I hate this time of year pre-summer so no - I’ll take the lie in and presents now please. In June it’s much easier to do something we all enjoy.

😂😂 love this perspective!
TheBigDilemma · 26/03/2022 20:49

To start with I agreed with you, then I thought about the longer day entertaining a much bigger group of people around the barbecue on the excuse of Mothers day… no thanks, I much rather have a pub lunch and send everyone home before they get too comfortable under the warmth of the day.

Figmentofimagination · 26/03/2022 20:52

My issue is that I feel I can't have a full lie in. Because if I sleep till what was 10am it's actually the new 11am and I feel mean that I've spent so long in bed. But I deserve my lie in!

Also there may technically be an hour less parenting, but no way will my child go to sleep at the "correct" time.

BanjoKnockers · 26/03/2022 20:52

Well done for flagging this up, @WashedupTroll. Some might think it's trivial. But it's annoyingly typical of men to do this and then to play the whole thing down and laugh it off.

Trinacham · 26/03/2022 20:53

I hadn't really thought about it but good points😒YANBU

RishiRich · 26/03/2022 20:55

We could just have the same (later) Mother's Day as the rest of the world.

homeappliances · 26/03/2022 20:58

Totally agree with you OP.

It's just luck that the weather is going to be sunny tomorrow. Typically the weather isn't as pleasant on Mother's Day .

MermaidEyes · 26/03/2022 21:02

How about we keep tomorrow and then as an extra bonus have the 8th May as well, along with the US?

DementedPanda · 26/03/2022 21:02

I'm taking ds to his football match tomorrow,.Nice early start 🙈

DivIsMyFavouriteSubject · 26/03/2022 21:03

I agree with the hours but not with the football, summer months are boring without the beautiful game

BeHappy91818 · 26/03/2022 21:11

I don’t think it makes any difference if it’s in March or June.

Tulipvase · 26/03/2022 21:13

They aren’t always the same date though? Are they?

WisherWood · 26/03/2022 21:13

But mother's day doesn't always coincide with the clocks changing. It's mothering Sunday, the day you returned to your mother parish and it's the fourth Sunday of lent. Next year it will be the 19th March and so won't coincide with clock change.

LondonQueen · 26/03/2022 21:14

How about we celebrate 8th May like the rest of the world? Better weather and no clock changing!

WashedupTroll · 26/03/2022 21:16

Well in June you at least get 24 hours. Think I'm more depressed than empowered by the replies that say an hour less means less parenting

I know it isn't always, but being in hospitality I know it often coincides.

Father’s Day is too near my birthday. Thinking about it I would swop to have 2 special days inJune instead of often having my birthday on a shit day in the week then fathers day at the weekend when it should really still be all about me. I vote yes.

VyeBrator · 26/03/2022 21:19

On the plus side, one hour less moaning about Mother's Day on Mumsnet Grin
