To feel a bit "off" about the retailer posting this meme?

It's from a well known clothing shop. I have no idea if I'm allowed to put the name.

They shared this on their Facebook page and captioned it with the first line in the picture. There's something about it that I don't like. Red flags shouldn't be ignored just because of how someone looks or how tall they are. It's almost as if they are making light of abusive traits in a partner.

AIBU to think it's irresponsible and in bad taste for a reputable company to be posting something like this?

Fully willing to be told that I'm being too uptight or overthinking it too much and need to wind my neck in!

Well you only have to glance at MN threads about men who are of normal average height to know that any man under 6' is apparently considered un-dateable.

Might be close to the bone but I think there's an uncomfortable truth in it.

I think that the point is what @Lockheart is getting at, women need to stop seeing short men as undateable it’s and start actually noticing red flags

Possibly! But it's their caption that implies that they should be overlooked because he's tall. Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding completely!

Ugh, posted too soon. I read it the same way but I don't think it's implying that that's a good thing. I think we're supposed to think that that's ridiculous.

Pretty much. I posted on the last height-based thread in Relationships to talk about a truly lovely ex of mine who happened to be 5'7", and said that height was no indication of how good a man someone is.

I was rounded on and told that didn't matter, they would never consider someone like my ex and wanted someone at least XXX height.

So for at least some women, it seems height IS more important than bastard-rating.

It's not saying the red flags should be ignored, it's saying that many women might drop their guard if someone is particularly attractive. It is sadly true.

I'm more concerned about the "red flags are starting to look pink" line at the top. Unless I don't understand what they're trying to say?

It's the way they've written "red flags starting to turn pink" that's making me feel "off' about it I think.
