DH wants to start a Morris dancing troupe. I must say that I don't think it is something that will go down particularly well in our part of Fulham (the expression lead balloon comes to mind).

AIBU to say NO! Help please!

Why do you get to say yes or no?

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 04/03/2022 20:34

Can be Morris dance?
Personally I love watching men Morris dancing.

ParalysisByAnalysis · 04/03/2022 20:34

Does he need your permission?

ShirleyPhallus · 04/03/2022 20:34

It’s a lost art, fabulously retro.

Does he have a beard, love of real ale and some twinkly bells?

I’d say yes, go for it!

NightshiftNancy · 04/03/2022 20:35

Is he not an adult?? Surely your opinion is absolutely irrelevant.

Isthisjustnormal · 04/03/2022 20:35

Ha: I can see that mix of eccentricity and drinking going down quite well in Fulham tbh! Is he planning male or mixed troop?!

DrSbaitso · 04/03/2022 20:35

What's the problem?

pastypirate · 04/03/2022 20:36

Yanbu. We can't possibly judge without a video.

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/03/2022 20:36

He’s not making you do it. Don’t be so daft. It’s better than bloody cycling or a gaming obsession. Leave him alone.

BendingSpoons · 04/03/2022 20:36

I can imagine it being quite cool in a retro way.

Susu49 · 04/03/2022 20:36

Yabu

How could you deny us accounts of such a treat??

malificent7 · 04/03/2022 20:37

My dp does it....he loves it so I encourage him and sometimes I join in too. It's postively cool in certain circles ( don't kbow about Fulham though!....we are in the sticks).

PutYourBackIntoit · 04/03/2022 20:37

There was this exact thread a few weeks back

Lookingforphev · 04/03/2022 20:37

If its not popular, it's not popular and it doesn't work.

Why are you so against this?

Please tell its not because you believe all lorries dancers paint their faces.

hagsrus0 · 04/03/2022 20:37

Would they do the stick-and-bucket dance?

Lookingforphev · 04/03/2022 20:37

Myvauto correct keeps changing morris to lorries 🤣

RobinBlackbird · 04/03/2022 20:38

Finally an actual (possibly) outing hobby.

One of my good friends is a Morris dancer… i thought it was proper weird and my thought were confirmed when I went to a wasail in the local village.

It is proper weird… but in a fun and good way. They were all soo cheery and friendly.

MartinMartinMarti · 04/03/2022 20:39

The Hammersmith Morris Men used to have an excellent following on boat race day. Your Fulham lads would be a great addition.

MiniDaffodils · 04/03/2022 20:39

Do you control everything he does OP? What ever is wrong with a man dancing?

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/03/2022 20:39

Hammersmith Morris has being going since the 70s. Not a million miles from Fulham.

PonyPatter44 · 04/03/2022 20:40

You are completely and utterly unreasonable. Morris is part of the spirit of England. It may not be a "thing" in Fulham yet, but it could be...Dont let him black up.

My friend dances Morris. I think it is mostly an excuse to go and drink beer with his mates, and wave sticks around. He enjoys it though.

MsWalterMitty · 04/03/2022 20:40

Lots of drinking involved too
