To stop entering competitions because no one wins anything?

Just that really. Not even about the lottery or lucky dips or anything like that.
It’s Vodafone rewards; sky VIP, win a weekend for 2 etc etc. Has anyone ever actually won anything from random online competitions? I keep entering but never win and don’t know anyone in real life that has ever won.

My son got to be mascot at the Ashes because I randomly entered an online competition.

Wilma55 · 03/03/2022 21:10

I won a holiday on Gransnet!

Salmonpinkcords · 03/03/2022 21:12

Won a couple of low cost items on Sky VIP

JamMakingWannaBe · 03/03/2022 21:13

My work colleagues met Will Smith through a Sky VIP competition. Not sure he was that bothered TBH.

Someone has to win?

TracyMosby · 03/03/2022 21:14

I won a few competitions in a bridal magazine when I was getting married.

ShaneTwane · 03/03/2022 21:14

I hear of people winning competitions all the time. I never win ever. I know someone who won tickets to a famous pop stars concert. My parents won a stay at the Hilton. I know someone who won a holiday and a relative who won 5k on a scratch card.

ShirleyPhallus · 03/03/2022 21:15

My grandparents had a neighbour who spent her whole day applying for these free competitions. It was a great hobby for her and she won so much stuff, lots of random small stuff like china cats but a few big items including a jet ski. She was about 80 and so sold it and went on a cruise instead!

Maxifly · 03/03/2022 21:15

Won a holiday to Barcelona plus spending money and a personal shopper for one of the days!

Viviennemary · 03/03/2022 21:16

No I never win. But I don't enter. I think about it but never do.

backaftera2yearbreak · 03/03/2022 21:16

My friend wins loads of stuff!

MangoSeason · 03/03/2022 21:17

I won a a prize through a coffee chain for a family trip to a show in my capital city. Airfares, accommodation, show tickets and a back stage pass! Then Covid hit, the show got cancelled and so did the trip. No-one’s fault but the prize was completely null and void- I had thought I would get a coffee voucher or something at least for goodwill. So that’s the only thing I have ever won.

MangoSeason · 03/03/2022 21:18

And the only other thing I have won was some Tupperware in a school raffle when I was 8. Not exciting for me, although mum was thrilled and still uses in 35 years later.

Jazzcafecoffee · 03/03/2022 21:19

About 20 years ago I won a trip on the Orient Express from London to Bath. I sold it to my parents as I was going to Florida and needed spending money lol! Entered endless competitions since then a not won a sausage.

MayBeeMee · 03/03/2022 21:20

I’ve won a couple of MN competitions, JL vouchers.

Lemoncurd · 03/03/2022 21:23

My 16 yr old won a big screen tv this week, I won a £50 voucher last week. We don't tend to enter much but have won some great prizes. Had a lot of luck at school fairs too - one son won two iPads within a year and the other £200 cash!

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 03/03/2022 21:24

We won the price of our new telly back this Xmas from Currys!

TAKESNOSHITSHIRLEY · 03/03/2022 21:30

im a serial comper been doing it for years now

ive won a fair bit and win quiet often

theres websites where the prize link is all there for you and even the answers

women's magazine competitions where theres 10+ prizes, all the answers provided

if anyone's interested i use these regularly(and won from 3 sites) but theres hundreds more on goggle

its just a few clicks of a mouse and i use a form filler so its so easy
i have a email just for competitions, i dont provide a phone number so no spam just name address and email.(if they do insist on a phone number i use my house phone which is still active i just dont have a handset)

99%of my winnings have just turned up through the post. i dont always get contacted.
these websites do up to 6 months ahead so hald of my winnings i cant remember entering as i could have done it months
i do closing today then new today. I do hundreds per day a few hours through out a 24 hour period.im not on the computer all day every day
i have kids that dont sleep so i spend my time doing competitions instead of scrolling on a phone

www.theprizefinder.com/
www.competitions-time.co.uk
but theres many more

Yep, I’ve won several holidays abroad over the years, including one I’m going on in the summer which has been postponed for 2 years because of covid. Won lots of other things too. I’ve been very lucky. The trouble is now there are so many people doing competitions, it’s almost like winning the lottery. In the past, there were fewer people doing it and you had to fill in entry forms, sometimes buying products to enter and having to send paper entry forms in the post. Now it’s 99% online and free, so the numbers doing competitions are absolutely enormous, but real people do win!

Professionallytorn · 03/03/2022 21:40

I used to comp a lot, and about 6 years ago, best prize I won was a car and a fortnight in Mauritius. Stopped comping soon after this though as took a lot of my time, even using a form filler.

hauntedbillybass · 03/03/2022 21:41

I do a lot of comping on MSE, I've won holidays, money, vouchers, a TV, a console.

You have to put the time in to do the entering, but people do win!

SkiRun0077 · 03/03/2022 21:44

I won the “guess how many mini eggs in the huge jar” at school fete my DD was SO excited. My maths skills won it Grin

Saffy321 · 03/03/2022 21:47

Over twenty years ago I read something about needing to enter a lot of competitions in order to win something, shortly afterwards I came down with chicken pox - and decided to enter as many as I could in the two weeks I was off work, I won a trip to New York, so as a PP said - its a numbers game, enter enough comps and eventually you will win something.

Pedallleur · 03/03/2022 22:09

Used to work with someone who entered competitions. Buy this pan and win a trip to France etc. So he did and he did. He had a few foreign hols and did one for pasta where he won a trip to an Italian cookery school. Whilst there with other winners the pasta company had a competition to win a Ferrari. He won it. Kept it a year, sold it for 50k (back in late eighties, early 90s), paid a big chunk off his mortgage. He targeted competitions which involved a purchase as the odds were lower.
