To stop entering competitions because no one wins anything?

Just that really. Not even about the lottery or lucky dips or anything like that.
It’s Vodafone rewards; sky VIP, win a weekend for 2 etc etc. Has anyone ever actually won anything from random online competitions? I keep entering but never win and don’t know anyone in real life that has ever won.

I went through a 3 month phase last year of entering every competition I could find and from that DD has won 2 prizes, a personalised sequin cushion and books from Pony magazine (subscriber anyway) and a big bundle of Pusheen toys and stationery. I've won a book. So not bad. In my teen years, I entered a few competitions and won quite a lot of prizes from a massive chocolate hamper to Radix sets. There's always a chance of winning.

I would really love to hear from anyone who has won one of those Omaze million pound houses.Grin

TheChippendenSpook · 04/03/2022 12:28

I won a competition on Netmums. It was very a nice prize too, just for answering a question.

TacoCats · 04/03/2022 12:32

I've won loads of things, from a iPad to a grand. But it was like 6-7 years ago now, you have to enter loads for it to be worth while.

Isis1981uk · 04/03/2022 12:33

I've been comping for 22 years & win on average 3 prizes a week. I've won a £22,000 car, numerous holidays (St Lucia, Vancouver, French Alps, & Cornwall), laptops, tablets, phones, £1000's of toys & books, beauty products, theatre weekends in London etc

The people who say they don't win anything:
a) Don't enter enough (I enter 200 a day easily) AND/OR
b) Don't follow the entry rules correctly.

My mum only enters 10-20 a day and has still won a weekend in Paris in a 5* hotel, tickets to see Sam Smith, & a £500 KitchenAid.

Chouetted · 04/03/2022 12:36

I won £100 in a crossword competition.

The victory was made much sweeter by the fact I'd only entered because my mum had told me "noone ever wins those".

I enter a lot of competitions regularly and have been very very lucky my biggest win was a brand new car from the women's mags when they did them years ago. I have won vouchers, mini breaks, cash etc.

The mantra is - you have to be in it to win it, (in other words enter as much as possible and you will eventually win) good luck 🤞🍀

AKAanothername · 04/03/2022 13:15

I won a flat in London, it was an Evening Standard competition.

DaisyDreaming · 04/03/2022 13:55

I’ve won before. They used to be easier to win but now competition entering is a lot more popular. Someone legally has to win and companies will be fined if they don’t give out the prize and are reported. If you think most competitions have hundreds of thousands of entries, some even over a million entries then the chances of winning are small but someone does win legit competitions

Renovationstation · 04/03/2022 14:32

I won a Vodafone Rewards competition for a £5 Argos voucher Grin

I enter everything I come across but other the Argos voucher I've only otherwise won bus tickets for our local bus company (day rover type ones worth about £10) and a Funday Times game as a kid in the 1980's.

Fingers crossed by big lottery payout is coming soon Halo

crowsfeet57 · 04/03/2022 14:36

New kitchen, trip to New York, family trip to Disneyland Paris, TV's. cash vouchers, olympics tickets, shows....

You have to be committed to win regularly.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 04/03/2022 15:12

My mum won 2 x £1000 watches plus a diamond necklace in a competition at a local jewellers when I was a kid.

Really interested in this. Do you have a job or just a few hours spare each day to do this? Where do you find the competitions?

I do have a full-time job (36 hours), and 2 primary-age kids, but my partner is at sea 4 months at a time so when he's away I spend a few hours every evening (+ weekend time) entering rather than watching TV. It's very much a serious hobby for me, whereas most people aren't prepared to spend the time doing it.

F to come back later once my pest
Of a dd is a sleep

MoniJitchell · 04/03/2022 15:51

I won a holiday to Dublin at a bingo rave club night a couple of months ago 🤣 also had a few things from sky vip, mostly tickets for things eg Disney on Ice, ballet, football.

KitchenDancefloor · 04/03/2022 16:21

I won a book on MN.
First draw I've ever won so I was chuffed, even though it is a book about the menopause (which I'd rather wasn't relevant to my life).

I'll carry on with free competitions but won't pay to enter any.

linnyb71 · 04/03/2022 17:45

I do a lot of online competitions. I enter loads everyday and i do the ones in the magazines.Over the last few years ive won adidas trainers, make up,kids toys toys.etc etc.One of my best wins was a a cash prize from take a break magazine a few years ago and i won a lovely kids jigsaw puzzle just tbis week.so it is possible.i do a lot of daily ones too where you enter every day for chances to win vouchers etc.its a lot of fun.😃

MNCar · 04/03/2022 17:48

I won a car on here!

And a laptop!

DockOTheBay · 04/03/2022 17:49

Someone always wins, companies wouldn't get away with running competitions which didn't actually have a winner - they would get found out and there is legislation around raffles/competitions/draws.

People who win a lot are usually people who enter a LOT. My MIL has won (over the years), a years supply of teabags, a trip to disneyland, free ferry travel to Jersey, and various smaller prizes. But she enters hundreds of competition - about 10 a week I think

linnyb71 · 04/03/2022 17:50

Forgot to say im signed up to a competitions website which posts new ones every day.theres hundreds of great competitions on the one i use.give it a go.

speakout · 04/03/2022 17:51

Isis1981uk8 well done.
I agree it can be done, it is numbers game.

Entering hundreds of competitions a week will give rewards.
My biggest wins have been

  1. Two week full board island hopping holiday in the Seychelles ( worth £18K)
  2. A week for 4 at the London Savoy hotel.
  3. £5000 cash.
samsalmon · 04/03/2022 17:54

@poolblue

I once won a radio in the shape of an orange. The straw was an ariel. Loved it.
Brilliant!
