Aibu to be a bit miffed at DH?

I have been ill in bed all day. Embarrassing but I think I have some inflammation in my bowels accompanied with constipation. I've been in a lot of pain since yesterday eve and all today. DH was great, did drop off and pick up of DS to school, made me hot drinks and brought snacks/lunch. He then took DS for an after school activity.

Here's the aibu: I usually attend a class on Thurs eves. DH saw the teacher when taking my DS to his class earlier, she teaches both mine and DS's classes. And he told her I wouldn't make it, then arranged that he would attend in my place. He has an interest in this field but not particularly this discipline, for example he doesn't have the specific footwear. I am quite annoyed that he's decided to attend this class, I find it quite odd really and he has form for making things about himself. He's left me home with DS to put him to bed etc. He's 8 so not that hard but still, I have literally struggled to get out of bed myself today. AIBU?

Yeah that’s quite weird…

KitKattaktik · 03/03/2022 19:23

So you can't go to your dance class and he's arranged to go in your place? On what planet is that ever going to happen? Hmm

TillyTopper · 03/03/2022 19:24

But you weren't going to go to class I assume... and he's been looking after you and DS from what you say. So I'd say it's quite sensible to use your place (that I guess is paid for) in order to try it out.

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:24

My planet apparently. Confused

I need to know what the specific footwear is??

PonyPatter44 · 03/03/2022 19:26

What? How strange! It sounds like one of those adverts for McDonald's about getting your moneys-worth.

Presumably if he's doing something like turning up for a tap class without tap shoes, he is just going to make a complete idiot of himself. It won't reflect badly on you, but everyone might feel a bit sorry for you as the lady married to the weirdo

floppybit · 03/03/2022 19:27

Skis? Flippers? Steel toe cap boots? Ballet shoes?

PonyPatter44 · 03/03/2022 19:27

PS I hope you feel better soon Flowers

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:27

Tillytopper, I'm doing pay as you go. My aibu is more I am in pain, so why could he not stay home as he usually does on a Thurs eve and look after DS

What an absolutely weird and totally inappropriate thing to do. I'm flabbergasted by this, honestly. Who would even think to do such a thing?

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:28

PonyPatter44 - thank you!

Do your ballet shoes not fit him ...
Sorry

No it's odd
He should be looking after you !!!

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:30

floppybit - ha ha. I was trying to maintain a modicum of privacy but what the hey - it's ballet shoes.

I’d assume climbing/bouldering. It’s completely weird dickhead behaviour and your teacher will think so too.

Sexnotgender · 03/03/2022 19:31

That is quite odd 😂

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:32

Lulu1919 - ha, no! Funnily enough I'm a size 4 and he's a 10.

It is odd isn't it!

You what now?

You're ill so DH has taken your spot at ballet?

Eh?

AnxiousHeffalump · 03/03/2022 19:32

He’s going to a ballet class instead of you? That’s so weird. Maybe he liked the look of the teacher…

Kite22 · 03/03/2022 19:32

Well, I'm not sure he needs to stay at home.
Your ds is old enough to come to you if there were an emergency and leave you alone if not, and after all there isn't much he can do for you particularly for that hour and a half or however long he will be out

However

It is very weird that he wants to 'take up your place' at your class for a week.

GLB1980 · 03/03/2022 19:32

Maybe he's trying to show interest
A misjudged attempt to better understand your hobby/class? It's a lot easier talking about groups of you have met people.

MiddleParking · 03/03/2022 19:32

Cross posted - he’s going to try and just pick up a place in your ballet class? When you’re at least advanced enough to own adult shoes? Wow. That’s actually really funny if it wasn’t such dickhead behaviour.

Sharrowgirl · 03/03/2022 19:33

He’s going to your ballet class?! Erm…

In terms of your pain, I don’t know. I’m presuming it’s not much more than an hour and an 8 year old doesn’t need much looking after so I don’t think that’s the unreasonable part, no.

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:34

I'm glad I am not the only one to think it's odd. He does have an interest in dance but hasn't done a ballet class since he was about 7 so why the burning need to do one this evening is just bizarre!

Is his name Billy?

Was his dad a miner?
