Aibu to be a bit miffed at DH?

I have been ill in bed all day. Embarrassing but I think I have some inflammation in my bowels accompanied with constipation. I've been in a lot of pain since yesterday eve and all today. DH was great, did drop off and pick up of DS to school, made me hot drinks and brought snacks/lunch. He then took DS for an after school activity.

Here's the aibu: I usually attend a class on Thurs eves. DH saw the teacher when taking my DS to his class earlier, she teaches both mine and DS's classes. And he told her I wouldn't make it, then arranged that he would attend in my place. He has an interest in this field but not particularly this discipline, for example he doesn't have the specific footwear. I am quite annoyed that he's decided to attend this class, I find it quite odd really and he has form for making things about himself. He's left me home with DS to put him to bed etc. He's 8 so not that hard but still, I have literally struggled to get out of bed myself today. AIBU?

I was trying to maintain a modicum of privacy but what the hey - it's ballet shoes.

Are you fucking serious? 🤦

He's going to make a total tit of himself. I couldn't stay married to a twat like that. How embarrassing.

KindlyKanga · 03/03/2022 19:35

Has he ever done ballet before?

DoubleGauze · 03/03/2022 19:36

Maybe he's going to pop your ballet shoes on and perform for you when he gets back.

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:37

@GLB1980 that is a kind sentiment but I'm not sure his thinking is really about me at all!

@monroeagogo - Is his name Billy? Good one!

That is hilarious because it's so bizarre! But I would only find this funny, if it was my DH, if it had been my idea and he was going under duress from me. Who's idea was it? Your DHs or the teacher?

One can but hope...

Definitely my DHs idea. He has expressed an interest before, but I really think its because I'm doing something he's not.

Been feeling really shit tonight and this made me laugh

ArtOfTheImpossible · 03/03/2022 19:42

This has to be one of the most bizarre OH behaviour threads I've read on MN

fibrecruncher · 03/03/2022 19:42

@KindlyKanga

Has he ever done ballet before?
When he was a kid only briefly. He does dance other styles though

Glad to be of service. I also feel really ill and will probably find his behaviour amusing at some point...

I hope you are feeling better.

Personally I think anyone who gets half a day in bed without being needed for something is fortunate.
When I fell and had bad concussion no one thought to as much as to make me a cup of tea.

What an odd post! If DH is at work, DS is at school, and OP is ill, why SHOULDN'T she have a day in bed?? I'm sorry you didn't have anyone to make you a cup of tea but I'm struggling to see the correlation Confused

OP you DH is going to make a twat of himself, it's a really weird thing to do!!

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/03/2022 20:01

The image of your size 10 footed partner leaping around your ballet class is very funny. Insist he comes up and shows you what he did.

He is being unreasonable to leave you to childcare when you are ill. So I’d say that (well I’d have told him not to go in the first place), rather than focus on him making things about him as that’s a bit nebulous.

Just make your illness last a bit longer, so he does penance.

If you're ill you do spend the day in bed! OP wasn't "needed" for anything so she had every right to stay in bed!!

@fibrecruncher I think I came across wrong, it wasn't a pop at you just WTF was HE thinking! Sorry x hope you feel better soon, I've had similar issues and know how that can really drag you down xx

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 03/03/2022 20:05

That’s nuts! He doesn’t need to be going to ballet this week, when you’re ill. Surely if he’s got a burning desire to do ballet he can do it another day (ie not when your class is) when you’re better?

Itsthejourney · 03/03/2022 20:15

Is it that odd if he does other dance styles though?

needingpeace · 03/03/2022 20:19

How attractive and slim is the ballet teacher?

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 03/03/2022 20:19

I don’t think it’s that odd if he does other dance styles. If he didn’t then yes I would say it was odd.

Sharrowgirl · 03/03/2022 20:19

What other dance styles does he do? If goes to other dance classes, then it’s much less weird.

SmallChange11 · 03/03/2022 20:19

More importantly what's he going to wear on his feet then op?!

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 03/03/2022 20:23

@needingpeace

This was my thought.
Nightlystroll · 03/03/2022 20:26

He's left you on your own for a couple of hours with an 8yo. I can't see why this is a problem. Can't your son put his pj's on and get into bed by himself?

Some people's bars are so low you couldn't limbo under them.
