To think that there's nowhere cheap and cheerful to eat in London , near Hyde Park?

Been looking for some
Ideas where to eat when we travel to the UK from Ireland next month.
We'll be staying near Hyde Park but I'm
Stumped when it comes to finding cheap ish eats ???
Are there any??
We aren't too choosy but like the odd burger and are open to all cuisines but gosh, the prices are nuts from what I can see, online.

The Swann Inn, just round the corner from Lancaster Gate station is quite nice and reasonable too.

Odoreida · 28/02/2022 22:14

Which side of Hyde Park? And do you have to eat very near where you're staying? You can get to other areas easily

WorraLiberty · 28/02/2022 22:15

link here with menu

I don't know London at all!!
All I know is that we seem to be one mile from every attraction worth visiting !
We will be walking everywhere so open to all suggestions thanks . Not interested in fine dining though. Thanks

Which side? Kensington Creperie is very nice and not extortionate. There are also some good Lebanese/ Middle Eastern places on the Edgware Road.

WorraLiberty · 28/02/2022 22:18

Also, if you're looking for a nice fairly cheap lunch, the place next to the Lido in Hyde Park is nice. They do lovely chicken wings and rosemary and sea salt fries amongst other things.

PermanentTemporary · 28/02/2022 22:18

In general why not look around Paddington rather than Hyde Park itself? About 2 minutes' walk away from the park, but lots of places eg Ask Italian in Spring Street- not thrilling but a nice room - or Paramount Lebanese Kitchen on London Street?

RhodaDendron · 28/02/2022 22:20

Which side of the park are you? Brasserie Zedel in Picadilly is lovely and does a Prix Fixe two courses for about £12 I think.

NewPapaGuinea · 28/02/2022 22:23

London Lockhouse on Paddington Basin for burgers. Amazing! Paddington is about 10 minutes from Hyde Park.

foobio · 28/02/2022 22:25

Lots of nice chain restaurants near Victoria; Franco Manca, Bills, Wagamama, Nandos, itsu, Zizzi, Leon. Easy bus ride if you're not on the right side of the park.

cheninblanc · 28/02/2022 22:25

Fouberts on Kensington High Street is lovely and very well priced

cheapeats · 28/02/2022 22:25

Thanks so much for all suggestions ! Saving all of these. I'm
So excited now !

I would check out Time Out magazine for cheap eats - they do a digital version. London is massive so you would be best to stay out and plot a few places near to the attractions you intend to see rather than returning to your hotel and then looking for restaurants around there.

Edgware road for great shawarma

wurlycurly · 28/02/2022 22:27

And Queensway... Lots of Chinese restaurants and other stuff

MovinOnUp · 28/02/2022 22:28

The Swan on Bayswater Road was pretty reasonable when I was last there.

cheapeats · 28/02/2022 22:29

Close to Bayswater and Queensway tube station s is where we are staying?

You won't be too far from Chinatown if you're up for a bit of a walk. I'm not up to date with prices and where's good but I'd be surprised if there weren't some decent reasonable places there.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/02/2022 22:32

Ah, that's a little bit further from Hyde Park than I was thinking, but still a good central spot.

WorraLiberty · 28/02/2022 22:32

@cheapeats

Close to Bayswater and Queensway tube station s is where we are staying?
It's literally a 2 minute walk from Lancaster Gate station
WorraLiberty · 28/02/2022 22:33

Sorry, OP. I thought you were asking where the Swan is Blush

cheapeats · 28/02/2022 22:37

Great menu thanks!!!!

There's a Chinese supermarket with a bakery on Queensway, near the park. My kids really loved the sausage rolls out of there, if you're looking for a picnic.

cheapeats · 28/02/2022 22:44

So what do I wear around London during
The day to evening ? I'm a midi dress, vejas and Denim jacket kinda gal! Will that allow me into galleries / museums and these puns/ restaurants ?
Can You guess we haven't left the island in
