AIBU to think nearly everyone has stopped wearing them?

At the weekend we visited a local tourist attráction, went swimming, went to the pub, went for a meal out, and went shopping. During this I saw no more than a handful of people wearing a mask?

Masks for life for me 😷

Rosebel · 28/02/2022 16:08

Lots of customers still wear them where I work. Staff about 59/50.
I actually think a lot of people are still wearing them where I am. Even nursery drop off, where we wait outside quite a few parents still wear them.
Having said that everyone in my family apart from my dad who still wears one ditched them ASAP.
They aren't exactly comfortable

MissMaple82 · 28/02/2022 16:11

It's no concern of you what choose to do. Get a life!

countbackfromten · 28/02/2022 16:11

I’m a doctor and still wearing mine on public transport and in enclosed poorly ventilated spaces. And will do for the foreseeable future. Not a hardship and frankly I want to stay well and be able to go to work (where I am still wearing a mask all day every day). Some of the comments about those of us choosing to wear them are just rude.

Lou98 · 28/02/2022 16:21

I'm in Scotland and it's still a legal requirement here. There's definitely less people wearing them but I'd still say about 85% of the people I've seen out and about are wearing masks.

It stops being a legal requirement here on the 21st of March so curious to see how quickly they get dropped.

I'm still wearing mine for hospital appointments (I'm pregnant) and if I remember to take one going to shops etc but will be glad when they're no longer required. I'll still wear it for hospital appointments if needed but I won't be wearing it anywhere else

AngelinaFibres · 28/02/2022 16:22

Went to an art fair in Bath yesterday. No one was wearing a mask. Very little mask wearing in shops.

Mydogisagentleman · 28/02/2022 16:24

I loathe the bloody things but am required to wear one at work.
I’m buggered if I will put one on to go to Asda. Freedom

Mariposista · 28/02/2022 16:25

I would only wear them now where I actually have to, in the doctors or on a plane. Don’t give a stuff about the virtue signaling lot who refuse to move on - I respect their choice to wear them but they have to respect mine.

Epli · 28/02/2022 16:28

I wear mine since I am 33w pregnant and I am trying to avoid getting sick, but I am more than ready to get rid of them as soon as I deliver.

hangrylady · 28/02/2022 16:29

I still wear them at work as I have to go into people's homes but not anywhere else unless the specific shop asks for it.

Florelei · 28/02/2022 16:29

I really only wear them in pharmacies and doctors surgery now. I don’t know why but these places i just feel like I should!

Squirrelblanket · 28/02/2022 16:29

So you've stopped wearing one because you don't have to. But you are shocked that other people, who also don't have to wear them, have also stopped wearing them. 😂😂😂

Chely · 28/02/2022 16:31

Folk stopped wearing in our local supermarket before the rules changed. I was glad to be rid, only wear in medical settings if they are still requesting it.

dreammattemousse · 28/02/2022 16:34

I only wear one so I can be ugly in peace

BirdOnTheWire · 28/02/2022 16:35

Why does it bother the non- mask wearers that others choose to wear one? My wearing a mask doesn't hurt anyone so why does it upset so many people?
I am extremely vulnerable to covid and choose to add the tiniest bit of protection when I am in a confined space.

LoopyDream · 28/02/2022 16:37

After two years you would think we would be over mask shaming others

SexyLittleNosferatu · 28/02/2022 16:38

Are doctors and nurses virtue signalling?

Are they wasting their time wearing masks?

I spent most of today at hospital appointments with my husband. We saw 4 different consultants. Not one of them wore a mask. 🤷‍♀️

Crunched · 28/02/2022 16:39

Grin And I can mutter under my breath about how annoying everyone is without them being aware of it.
LauraChant · 28/02/2022 16:41

People get very snitty about masks, don't they, judging by this thread. The OP is something I might remark upon to DH when getting back from town. "Darling husband, last week I would say around half of the people in M and S were wearing masks and today hardly anyone was." "You hypocrite!" he wouldn't say. "Why are you shocked at people not wearing masks when you are not wearing them yourself? Why the concern? Don't you know masks are not legal anymore?! Are you pretending to not understand why people are not wearing masks for some weird reason?!"

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 28/02/2022 16:42

The vast majority don't give a crap. I don't. Doesn't bother me in the slightest as long as they don't try to shame me for not wearing one.
ukborn · 28/02/2022 16:44

No I live in London and in shops plenty of people are still wearing them (including me) and I still see a fair amount wearing them just walking down the street. On the tube my daughter (uses it to get to school) always wears one and she says plenty others still do too, though those restrictions just ended last week so it may be habit for some.

We have to at work. I do occasionally outside that if I remember/can bring myself to be minus glasses for a bit.

I'll still wear one in hospitals/drs surgeries I think, I've always thought they were a good idea in places like that anyway.

Lou98 · 28/02/2022 16:52

Not all "non mask wearers" are the same just as not all mask wearers are the same. The majority of people couldn't care less what others do.

I wear a mask to hospital appointments and try wear ones at other times but I have HG and struggle with feeling more sick with a mask on so I often don't wear one in shops - the amount of looks or eye rolls I get from "mask wearers" is ridiculous but I still know it's the minority of people that judge others for what they choose

I'm in Scotland so most people are still wearing masks. It's a legal requirement here until the 21st of March but everyone should be able to choose for themselves what they prefer without feeling judged by others

AndAsIfByMagic · 28/02/2022 16:53

Plenty people wearing them around here.

Many shops asking people to, so it would be rude not to.

National Trust houses still ask that they are worn. Small price to pay to keep others safe.
